  1. Not really arguing, but since we're being specific here, just wanted to point out some things, because we aren't really giving continuity a fair shake. It's not just the features, it's how it's implemented and used. With ease of use being a thing to keep in mind. 1. Shared web browsing has been a thing in Safari too, pre-Yosemite. The new thing is being able to swipe up from your device and you're instantly there. Like, you're on your laptop browser, you stand up to make coffee, pick up your phone and swipe up. You're now on the page you were just browsing. No need to click to push a page. No need to go to a history page/some section of the mobile browser to pick the page you were just viewing. And it works the same the other way. Once you're back on your desk, click the icon on the leftmost of the dock and you're there. This is also basically how composing emails work in continuity. Gmail can do it as well as other web based emails, it saves the draft online after all, but there are fewer steps in continuity. It's just there at once. 2. I believe cloud documents were there pre-yosemite, too so I didn't think it was a continuity thing. Though GDocs is definitely better than iWork, but on this front, I'm on MS side with Word, etc. If only their services were as fast as Google's. 3. You can answer/reply on any device. I'm not sure if answering the call on another device other than the phone is a pushbullet thing (although you seemed to confirm it). One thing that Pushbullet did well I think is that it uses a Google sign-in, which reduces friction. It's easier to ask someone to adopt it since they don't need a new account. 4. Mobile hotspots are there pre-Yosemite too. The difference is, you don't even need it to be turned on your phone, or have it set up. Just pick the iPhone from the dropdown (which is there because of bluetooth), and it automatically turns on hotspot on your phone, and connects you, no need to enter a password either. In most of these things, there is far less friction on how iOS and OS X work together, compared to how Android and a Mac/PC does. Which, I think, does a lot in convincing disinterested users to use those features. It becomes so much easier convince someone to try them when you can tell them their computer already does these things, they just need to turn it on.
  2. Technically, no, as those aren't continuity things. Pushbullet is the only thing similar to Continuity, (I'm not sure if that handles answering calls on your tablet/mac/pc). But pushbullet is something you install on both your computer and phone. Anyway, Continuity does more than Pushbullet, but those other features are the power user ones, hence I didn't dwell and specified only the calls/text part, which is way easier to setup and use).
  3. I guess it's one of those things in the lore you only find in in-game books/texts. Nobody outside Neogaf bothered to write about the game's lore yet? Maybe they're trolling you since they know people haven't played the damn thing yet Also, mind linking the thread? I'm curious now...
  4. Umbrella terms are fine, IMO. They're a bigger classification that we need in order to easily group things and narrow things down from there, and they do the job well. I believe we had a topic by TC regarding this.
  5. Under today's classifications, what is a roguelike then? Shouldn't it have some generic genre name by now? Or maybe it's too specific a genre, that you can't dump it into "first person"/"third person" "action"/"shooter"/"puzzle" game? Are there other genres that are like this? Or maybe it's not really a genre, but kind of a gameplay mechanic or something?
  6. I can't imagine someone using an iPhone 5s, 6 or 6+ without using Touch ID. That seems crazy to me. Maybe those that don't even put passcodes or swipe patterns, but those are lost causes. The suggestions were due to how convenient they are. They're good features with low barrier to entry (including Continuity, at least the phone calls and text messages), as long as you're in the ecosystem already (i.e. using a Mac or an iPad). So even a disinterested customer can easily jump in.
  7. I did a search for both those things, because fuck spoilers, but nothing comes up that would back that up... They're never ever mentioned in the same article/page, in the way that would suggest that.
  8. I've been watching The 100. The first season. I feel like I've seen these things happen before. I guess there's really just a few ways things could go if you want to go in and inhabit a planet. This one's complete with mysterious inhabitants, plotting politicians, naive heroes and selfish human beings. The difference here is, humans are trying to re-inhabit Earth, not trying to inhabit a different planet. But I'm sure someone has tried that one before. That's not to say I'm not enjoying it. I like it. I think I remember this one being on the verge of cancellation, but as of January this year, it looks like it's been renewed up to a 3rd season. Which reminds me of my other sci-fi favorite, Continuum, which has been cancelled, really, but has been given a shortened 6 episode season to conclude it's story. And with how the last last season ended, I think this season's story is going to be somewhat rushed.
  9. Where is the PS4 thread? Suspend/Resume is finally coming in the next update. Woot! But I think the bigger news is being able to remap controls on the system level. That one could help those who don't want to use triangle to jump in Skyrim. http://www.engadget.com/2015/03/06/sonys-testing-a-ps4-update-that-lets-you-pick-up-your-game-wher/?utm_source=Feed_Classic_Full&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Engadget&?ncid=rss_full
  10. Basically linking and continuing your activities from your phone to the mac (and vice versa) like calls, text, writing emails, browsing.
  11. Continuity, Apple Pay, Touch ID, Apple care / tech support at stores. If you don't care for any of those, might as well go Android.
  12. Anyone here using a PS Vita grip, like this one? http://amzn.to/1BFtwPN I'm wondering if I should get this one (this one has an additional battery/charge), or one with good triggers.
  13. I'm starting to. Just finished Episode 1. Too much
  14. I'm on a vita kick. Lots of booby traps.
  15. Now that I've been working from home and not going out much, I find that my preference for the size of my phone's screen has changed. I've always thought my iPhone 5s' screen was ok (4"), and I may go larger but no more than maybe 4.5". I actually have a Moto G(?) that's 4.5", and using that, I can feel the difference (much better viewing videos), but now I still think I can go bigger. So I looked up a comparison size for the new iPhones and found this: Resized that to match my 5s exactly and see how I would feel about the bigger sizes. I have an Anker power bank and it matches the size of the 6 almost perfectly (though probably 3x heavier), and I can see myself using that. But holy crap is that 6 plus big (Samsung Notes have existed for a long long time but I've never really paid any attention to phones > 5"). I've given up on a tablet since, even at home, I don't want to be using two devices, I'd much rather have 1 I can use for everything. So I'm kinda leaning for the 6 plus (maybe the 6s plus or whatever it's better iteration is later this year), but I gotta figure out how to carry that around. Back pockets are not an option, and while I think a 6 might fit on my front pocket (would look bad though), a 6 plus would be impossible. I do lug around a bag when I go some place farther than grocery shopping (it's a Fallout BoS bag! I wanna use it! And I pack my Vita too even though I rarely use it. And earphones. And a battery pack... I like to be prepared.), so that's one option. Hmm... Maybe I'll try to get a feel next time I pass a store that has them on display.
  16. A lot of you may not agree, but I find reading gawker comments better than most. I actually like displaying only top rated comments and hiding a lot of posts that don't really add much to the discussion. On those sites, if something interests me I go through the trouble of clicking on things for the rest of the replies to appear. I think it's better than having a "no censorship" free for all with never ending threads of idiocy and rants. As for other news sites, I prepare myself and hope for the best as I navigate the section in search of things that add to the topic. I end up with a negative feeling though. So I do make a conscious effort to just not read comments at all to save myself from feeling bad.
  17. I end up reading years old posts that way , sometimes back to 2013 and I'm wondering why people are "guessing" features of the game when it was out months ago. All I really wanted to do was continue reading that last comment I found interesting. Although, I guess that way is better practically. I just don't bother reading some threads so that happens.
  18. Nest Protect: This alam WILL NOT BE SILENCED!

  19. Oh I'd be the first to say this game totally rocks when it comes to PS+! In fact, i'd put a google alert for it! In all seriousness, i'd jump on this game later when it does come to PS+. And everyone on the internet will rejoice, too. We're just not there yet.
  20. There was a sale I think at the bandai namco game store when it was $24.95 a few days ago. But I checked and It's now $29.99 (although still $39.99 on the PSN digital store). Not sure what the usual price is on that site.
  21. I'm pretty sure this conversation about ratings has all happened before. What was the last bad game? Games 1-5 don't even deserve to be differentiated, IMO. A 1 star or 2 star game is a game I'd skip over unless there is something very specific I would want in there. It doesn't really matter (and I'd say there's a good chance the majority of the gaming masses would agree). Judging games on 6-10 scale (or 3 to 5 stars) has been, in my experience, a great way of weeding out which games are worthy of my time and money. So, yeah, for me a 65 is a bad game, not an above average one. And Mr.GOH! was the only one really who called the game terrible. We all know he exaggerates, and if he'd give a score himself it'd probably be a 45 to him. He's on a different scale, like I myself am on a different scale (this game will probably be 2 stars to me). Although I think he forgot to include "or it's on PC" to his rule there.
  22. Frozen Synapse is free on the App Store. So I tried it out, and found out I had no idea how to play it (and have no interest in learning it). The soundtrack is pretty cool though.
  23. I don't have an Xbox One, but I can see myself getting one in the future. I was wondering though if I can sub to Xbox Live to get the free Games with Gold offers. Is there a way to subscribe to Gold without a console and just get the games? I don't mind dropping $60 now to just collect the free games (which I heard I can keep forever - or however long forever is in our digital world).
  24. You don't like Shay? I was pretty much Templar the whole way because of him. I like him more than Arno "i did it for love" Dorian. He doesn't have Arno's top notch parkour skills though. Shame.
