  1. I think that touches a deeper concern on whether the price they ask for a game is too much. But that's another argument for another thread. But as Masterdex has already honestly admitted, even $1 is too much for him....
  2. If you've noticed though, companies are moving away from demos and trials. Why? because people aren't generally more likely to buy a game after demoing it. @Ethan: I understand what you're saying about paying and not enjoying yourself but now you're just trying to guarantee enjoyment or pleasure. The biggest problem with this is that you actually now have a vested interest in not enjoying the game you're playing because if you enjoy it you have to pay for it. In the end the only thing you're actually going to accomplish is enjoying games less methinks.
  3. That's still 2 hours isn't it?
  4. Because if you're spending hours of your life on something that's not even worth $1 to you then you clearly have no concept of the value of time or money or both.
  5. See, this is what's telling. The rest of your argument is simply to justify this statement. You have to contrive a justification for the fact that you're unwilling to part with any money lest you find that you wasted it on a game you didn't like.
  6. Whether or not your would play it is irrelevant. You clearly have interest in the game enough to download it. If you remove the option of piracy then it simply becomes a question of price. How much would you be willing to pay to try the game in order to see if you like it? $20? $10? $1? Someone who is bothering to pirate a game that wouldn't be worth even $1 to them is a fool wasting his own time.
  7. The fallacy is that you can never actually make the assumption that they wouldn't have bought it. It's a caveat that makes the statement meaningless.
  8. Ha, that's my alma mater. Woot UTD.
  9. Rangers to the ALCS. Baseball time in Arlington!

haha, that's what I thought when I bought it... Why can't I see statuses on the home screen anymore?

  10. Yeah, sadly for the Philies the best team usually doesn't win.
  11. Yeah, I was polite. I'll upload a pic if the guy who took it ever emails it to me. I should have asked him for Ranger tickets.

  12. 90% since when? 1980? Since the Invention of the internet? The number is meaningless by itself. Additionally we're still talking % of legal copies which is not equal to "lost sales". Besides, has there ever been a form of DRM which isn't cracked eventually? You can't prevent content from reaching pirates eventually so are those people really so impatient as to spend $60 now rather than wait 2-3 weeks?
  13. Okay people, Game 3 starts in less than an hour. Go Rangers! anyone? anyone? Hello?
  14. Yes, everything you just said is yes. I can't believe they made a game only about crash mode and managed to make it suck.
  15. Got to shake hands with G.W. Bush today. That was cool.

Did you shake his hand politely and offer some words along the lines of "nice to meet you Mr President"? You should have.

  16. 'Cause they're watching the Net, man! And if they do find out about the data, it's not so easy to just hack a brain, duuuude! Yeah, the brain is a way safer place to keep your stuff. It's also important to only be able to get that data out of your brain using pictures of looney tunes.
  17. the box looks a little too fruity for me. Not nearly as cool as this.
  18. Why do people get 5 rockets too? Seems a bit OP to me. I was taking cover hoping to get away and the rockets just keep coming and coming.
  19. from wiki, the three endings to the original Deus Ex. Pretty obvious that the only one that happens is the third.
  20. So... All in all it's a good game but I feel like its ties to the original story were very very loose. Then again I still can't keep everything straight in my head from the first game. The other problem with 4 endings is that the sequel is going to have to assume one of them so it really loses the point. Oh, also, the muscle boss guy, I couldn't kill him with my laser gun or my machine gun. I finally just pulled out my pistol and since it had the armor piercing upgrade and some damage upgrades it took only a couple of shots to the face and he was dead. I was pretty confused by how this game does the damage after that.
  21. I finally finished Deus Ex HR. I've beaten all 3 of the Deus Ex games now and I still am really confused by the story.
  22. Alright, one hour until game one of Texas vs. TB. GO RANGERS!

well that didn't go well at all.

  23. Here it was, I actually thought it was in this thread. I suppose this thread and the RPGification thread really aren't much different. Not sure if you read that thread though. http://forum.pressxordie.com/index.php?showtopic=1380&view=findpost&p=63034
  24. Thanks for quoting that nightmaremode bit there. I posted that in another thread in here and I think it's amazing how many people have completely glossed over that bit of Oblivion.
