Everything posted by Mr. GOH!

  1. Days Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut. I liked it a lot. Felt very Days Ex-y. The DLC kinda broke the flow of things and made the levels afterwards seem too easy.
  2. Private state prisons are very deeply entrenched in state politics. Votes and money; law-and-order voters like them and the prison companies donate a lot to campaigns. Some have given kickbacks to judges for sentencing people (often teens) to specific private programs and prisons. Closing prisons or converting them to government-run costs money and jobs, too, and a lot of states are struggling with their budgets in this era of heavy GOP control of most states. California's system is probably the biggest and among the worst, even though it is a very Democratic state. however.
  3. The reviews do not surprise me. It's too bad the main narrative is not better, though. Just got my key. I will be ready on the 23rd.
  4. Reigns is my favorite phone app game.

Must be really good to post twice!

Reigns is no Rim World, that's for sure.

  5. Reigns is my favorite phone app game.

  6. The problem is that the endpoint of the conspiracy was given away in the original two games. It's just not that interesting any more. I kinda hope they do a reimagining of the original game as a sequel to this or the next Deus Ex game.
  7. cdkeys always waits until the last minute to send Steam keys. Good thing my Internet is obscenely fast. Edit: the reviews are in and it's apparently a pretty good game. Better than No Man's Sky!
  8. It's the right thing to do. But, yeah, state-level private prisons are more corrupt and corrupting and should be outlawed.
  9. I didn't realize I even had the choice!
  10. I love Rim World so much.

Don't knock it if you until you've tried it.

Haven't tried it yet but wouldn't mind.

  11. I got it for $36.95 on cdkeys. So not even $2 more expensive. I remember a time when I assume 1 pound was about 4 or 5 dollars. Can't wait until the pound drops lower than a dollar; I'll plan my trip to Scotland then! Of course, that assumes Scotland hasn't done the right thing and seceded the UK and joined the EU.
  12. Malik definitely didn't survive my game.
  13. The extra $2 isn't worth the hassle of canceling and reordering. GMG usually offers deep discounts shortly before release, though, so I guess I should have waited. Oh well.
  14. I loved Battlestar as well. The ending was utter garbage, however.
  15. Apparently it's a really late Early Access title; the word on the street is that it was released to Early Access only once it was a fully playable game rather than a glorified tech demo. Seems pretty full-featured to me.
  16. I can't believe I only found out about this game this past week. It's like a sci-fi Dwarf Fortress that's much much much much easy to learn and play. It even has graphics!
  17. It's true, season 4 had the last really watchable episodes in the series. But nothing lived up to the promise of Season 1. I am flashing back to internet forum debates of the 00's. Anyone want to cape the last season of Battlestar Galactica while we're defending the indefensible?
  18. The first season of Lost was great TV. Season 2 was okay. After that, it went way off the rails and continued to get more and more stupid until the terrible final half season.
  19. It's a good idea to do a clean OS install every so often anyway, so might as well take this opportunity.
  20. Tharsis. After a dozen or so attempts, I made it to Mars with my full crew intact and without resorting to cannibalism! I was not sure how the endgame worked, so I only sent my captain to the surface when I could have sent everybody. Oh well.
  21. I think the verdict on the PC version is to wait. I've also heard talk the core game will be updated with more options and features over the next six or so months, so it might be worthwhile to wait for that reason, too.
  22. Double post apologies. Actually ordered Dwys Ex and threw in Dark Souls 3 because I'll never finish DS2
  23. I know it's a few days old, but you're right; MM2 is objectively the best mega man game.
  24. That tears it, I'm waiting for many patches and a Steam sale.
  25. FLD: Your take on how to approach Jim's reviews is good. I've been reading his reviews for years and have found them to be mostly fair. I understand his subjective approach. But I also realize NMS is a big game and that there have been a few times when Jim's reviews have not at all matched up to the game I ended up playing. But he focuses his negative attention on elements that I feel would make me abandon the game. The Eurogamer review is good, too, but I'm not sure I have the time to give NMS to let it percolate and get enjoyable; I'd probably give up after a dozen or so same-y alien worlds with same-y minimally interactive life forms.
