  1. According to reports, you have no choice but to get a piece of junk ship that's not really upgradeable.
  2. Shouldn't Pokemon be in the cross-platform sub forum now?
  3. Holy shit is Stranger Things a fun love letter to 70's and 80's Spielberg, Cameron, Carpenter, and King. Maybe even Lynch and Cronenburg and Hughes, too. Just watched the first two episodes and I am really enjoying it, although I cannot be sure how much of that is due to the nostalgia overload. It's not nostalgia for my youth, but for the movies and books in pop culture from my youth, if that makes sense. It's really weird but also really good for what it is.
  4. Well, I suppose if there's any gaming machine Nintendo would want to compete with, it's the nVidia Shield tablet that very few people bought.
  5. But the NX is both a handheld *and* a home console with at least two separate controller configurations; local multiplayer games will, presumably, have to support the weird pulled-away configuration while single-player or online-only MP games need only support the NX in its unified configuration. I would be very surprised if AAA games are ported to the NX from the Xbone or PS4; the Tegra is nowhere near good enough to support modern AAA games. I bet Ninty is hoping lots of smaller and indies games will be ported, which they probably will, but I doubt many people will be buying the NX to play indies. It's confusing to me that Nintendo appears to be pushing a major AAA open world game for this thing's launch; the new Zelda does not seem like it would be very tiny-screen friendly.
  6. The Terra x1 is more powerful than the Wii U hardware? I guess that's not saying much, though.
  7. Games by Nintendo for Nintendo won't be enough to sustain the platform. Never has been. The Ninty platforms with the highest ratios of Ninty games to third party games have been the failures. Nintendo is kinda right to focus its limited resources on one platform, I guess. But they're caught between a rock and a hard place because the choice is between competing with Sony and MS in the home console market and competing with every smartphone and tablet in the mobile market. "When they try to push online or open world gaming it's always clumsy." Good thing the flagship NX title isn't an open-world Zelda game, then, huh?
  8. I think we all (well, except maybe Gerbil) can agree that, if this report is accurate, the NX is an insane gambit on Nintendo's part. I look forward to buying Nintendo games on Steam by 2020.
  9. You think it will be 3DS sized? Phone-sized? I really am not that confident about my assumption a to the the size of the NX. I was just going by the fact that the controllers are built in and that any decent controller will itself be about the size of a classic iPhone, at least. Ninty could be ragingly stupid and make the screen the size of a smart phone and have either two tiny controllers built into it or two controllers that dwarf the main unit. I think it's much more likely it will be the size of an iPad mini or thereabouts. I mean, it's a dumb idea no matter the size; why the FUCK would you spend billions building a nonsense proprietary phone/tablet when you could instead develop software for phones/tablets (and CONSOLES) that people already have?
  10. I would be surprised if it's much smaller than the Wii U second screen controller. If it's the size of a phone, I doubt the removable controllers will be big enough to be comfortable.
  11. That seems small if it's meant for local multiplayer. I thought the thing is supposed to have two controllers built in.
  12. Eh, lots of people carry iPads with them. But an iPad has a lot more utility than just gaming.
  13. It will be hilarious if the Wii U ends up being more powerful than the NX.
  14. It's amazing how many hotheaded judges with poor judgment are out there. I used to be amazed, but then I became a litigator.
  15. It takes balls to compete with iPads and the 3DS. I guess Ninty hopes folks with smartphones and/or tablets will want to lug around the NX instead. Seems like a bad bet to me. It's not a good sign that Nintendo has ceded the TV gaming market to MS and Sony, either. And of course this was always going to be underpowered. We're talking Nintendo, here. It would be foolish to buy this thing at launch.
  16. I started watching Rick and Morty last night. Ended up marathoning the first season. It's magnificent.
  17. Really? Huh. I like the art style. The quality of the art and animation gets many shout-outs in reviews, too, so I'm not alone in my opinion. Anyway, you're missing out.
  18. If you're not watching BoJack, you should be watching BoJack.
  19. Watched the extended version of Batman v Superman this past weekend. IT is worse than the theatrical cut because it is longer.

    1. TCP

      TCP

So what you're saying is more garbage does not = better?

    2. Strangelove

      Strangelove

I judge a person who likes that movie very harshly. Taste is subjective and all, but it just isn't a good movie in any way. It's not so bad it's good. It's just bad.

  20. The way I see it, this will make a great game to buy when it's inevitably discounted for the Steam holiday sale.
  21. X-Com 2. I mean, it's like XCOM, but even better. Doom. This is the perfect modern Doom game in every way, aside from MP, apparently, but I don't play MP shooters, so I don't mind. Total War: Warhammer. Love how this game really shakes up the Total War formula with radically different faction armies and strategic objectives for each faction. The battles are fast and fun (for the most part), and the over-the-top Warhammer mythos and style are both completely ludicrous and really fun camp.
  22. So the villain in Wonder Woman is World War I?
  23. Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD seems like shark jumping to me. I wonder if Luke Cage and Iron Fist can keep the quality up for the Marvel Netflix stuff.
  24. Twilight Struggle. Fucking awesome game based on what I can only assume is a fucking awesome board game about the Cold War. would make a great play by email team game for forumites, too.
  25. Batman: Arkham Knight. I liked it a lot. Way better than Origins and better than City. The ending was dumb, though. It did not feel like the last chapter in a series. I did not 100% it; I completed everything except collecting the Riddler trophies/bomb rioters/pictures. I think I got about 60% of the trophies before Ir ealzied I'd have to go back through a bunch of the large interior levels to get 100%. Fuck that and fuck you, Riddler.
