  1. I really like exploration games. I really don't like ones where all the differences are superficial and everything blends together after a short while. I am also hesitant because of the heavy focus on resource collection. I'm afraid it will get tedious before too long.
  2. They're not in the new EU books? Good point Ethan. When I was a kid, I thought it denoted some elite unit, like SEAL.
  3. I mean, Jesus Christ, it's a Mon Mothma line and she's not in the damn series until RotJ! Are Bothans cute furry snouty aliens (who are also apparently top-notch spies and politicians) in the Disney Expanded Universe, too, or has the term been retconned to mean something else?
  4. Is the Jimquisition review fair? Because he makes it sound like a game I wouldn't spend $20 on, let alone $60. I wonder if the pop-in is any better on PC. It was ugly and jarring even on the post-patch streams I've watched.
  5. Yeah, It's time for me to upgrade my mobo and CPU and RAM. Then get a new GPU next year. It's nice staggering GPU and mobo upgrades.
  6. If you sign into GMG with your account, Deus Ex is 25% off, or 44 bucks and change. cdkeys has it for 39 and change.
  7. Me three. Edit: Hmm.. cdkeys has it for $5 less, but the key probably won't be released until the 23rd. Sometimes GMG releases the keys in time to preload. What's a cheapskate to do?
  8. Hmmm. I might need to clean some stuff of my SSD, but I think I can make 45GB work. Once I finish and remove Human Revolution and Doom, I think I'll be set. I've decided I'm going to try mostly stealth and non-lethal combat for my first run. Human Revolution ahs been fun to play that way, though I have occasionally had to straight shoot a fool in the face on occasion.
  9. TLG looks like a less-fun Seaman crosses with a less-fun Black & White with a sprinkle of Ico on top. But back to No Man's Sky. I'm interested in it, but concerned that the gameplay loop, as they say, will get tedious before too long. I'm not really big on survival and crafting games these days, but I like the idea of exploration. From what I've heard of the game post-patch, I'll still likely wait for a significant discount before taking the plunge. My new game this month will be Mankind Divided, I suppose.
  10. Civ VI, son. Although it's onyl been 6 years that we've been waiting, I guess.
  11. Looney Tunes cartoons were waaaay better than Disney mostly due to the genius voice actors and the brilliant Chuck Jones. That said, it does not surprise WB has announced movies featuring a racist caricature and a rapist caricature for their first Looney Tunes movies because WB is run by a bunch of raving lunatic morons. See: WB's handling of the DCU.
  12. No Man's Sky? More like, uh, One Man's Lies. Or Spore 2.
  13. The Killing Joke is pure awfulness. I was just surprised they were able to make a new extremely shitty Batman TAS episode and tack it on as a prologue. I mean, the Killing Joke comic was dumb enough already and completely unworthy of an animated film treatment. Edit: Anyone know why Joel Kinnamen keeps getting work? He's terrible and miscast in everything I've ever seen him in.
  14. Star Trek Beyond. It was forgettable and boring. I guess I didn't have an emotional connection to the nu-Trek Enterprise enough that its destruction had any emotional effect on me. It was better than Into Darkness, but it seemed like a long, FX-heavy episode of TNG or DS9 more than an epic movie. I thought the space station was stupid and that it neither fit into the Trek space station aesthetic nor made a lick of sense.
  15. Don't Think Twice. It's a funny little movie about a NY improv troupe coming apart after one of its members gets place on the movie's version of Saturday Night Live.
  16. Hey Brits, does the pun "the tuppence ticket" for Trump and Pence scan? Does it read as a joke about how trifling the two are?
  17. Fargo is the shit. Can't wait for season 3.
  18. They're not looking to boot Trump, they're afraid he'll drop out on his own so they're starting to make contigency plans. The thinking is that trump is both unstable and prone to walking away from failures (see his many bankruptcies). It's all madness, to be sure.
  19. It will be a death by 1,000 cuts, each one of which would have been enough to sink any other candidate.
  20. I want a modern Ogre Battle game.

I maintain that the character creation in March of the Black Queen is the best 5 minutes on the SNES.

Huh, I thought you were talking of the Steve Jackson thing. We've a copy in our living room. It's massive.

  21. Marvel's A-List, as in known by non-comic book-readers, 10-15 years ago were Spider Man, the X-Men, Hulk, and the Fantastic Four, more or less. I think the non-Hulk Avengers were the bottom of the A-list for Marvel comic book fans, but not very well known by pop culture at large. It is frankly amazing how quickly Disney made the Avengers household names.
  22. Well, at least DC has made sure the DCAU is just as fucked as the DC movie universe. The Killing Joke is terrible in so many ways. Did anyone think Suicide Squad was going to be any good? I mean, it has the anti-charismatic Joel Kinnaman as the audience surrogate lead and it's clear from the trailers that Margot Robbie's ass as the female lead. Also it's in the fucked-from-jump Snyderverse.
  23. I may be wrong, but I think he wasn't able to change to a different ship and he almost never was able to upgrade his ship.
  24. Uh huh. "Accidentally ordered." Sure. Totally.
