  1. Zelda nostalgia > Grim Fandango nostalgia. This is because people have nostalgia for dumb things.
  2. TWOW is supposed to drop in 2015, perhaps before the next season airs. At least, that was last time I checked a month or so ago. There have already been several things in the show that go beyond the books; Jojen's death, and the Night's King reveal. I just hope next season doesn't turn into AFFC, the TV show.
  3. Nintendo definitely had the best E3 show, but that's only because the other shows were so godawful and failed to have anything new or interesting at all. Nintendo skated by on the Zelda semi-reveal, because of nostalgia. This was one of the least exciting E3's in recent memory. I consistently feel embarrassed for game journos when I read their impressions of it, as if the whole exercise were anything other than a cynical marketing extravaganza.
  4. Updating my GPU. Should I go with a GTX 770 or an AMD r80x?

Personally, I run into way more issues than I did when I was on Nvidia. There's even a few games that are downright unplayable because the drivers inevitably crash my entire PC, usually within 20-30 mins. I've pretty much given up on ever playing Resident Evil 6 on this GPU.

Even if both were on par in stability, for myself Nvidia wins out due to CUDA, and even more so lately with the GeForce Experience stuff. AMD's solution atm for that is the Raptr client and Steam, not as elegant and not sure many are up for installing both of those.

What GeForce Experience stuff? The bloat they throw in with their drivers? Fuck that. I also don't see what advantage CUDA offers as someone who is using a 650 right now.

Lastly, are these driver issues mainly concerns when games are freshly released? Because that would explain why I never see any problems. I rarely buy new games.

  5. Nintendo's job is to make the Wii U a valuable platform. Why should Ubi shoulder so much of the cost if Nintendo isn't doing much to promote and sell the platform? Ubi is already making money on more promising and developer-friendly platforms anyway; it's more efficient to develop and market for those than to sink money into Wii U titles that will end up only forming back catalog if the Wii U ever takes off. It would be throwing good money after bad.
  6. Ubi is being smart. Everyone who says otherwise is a butthurt fanboy and does not understand the concept of throwing good money after bad. Ubi is making money with its releases on PC, PS4 and Xbone. Why should it lose money providing ineffectual support for the Wii U?
  7. I am very pleased.
  8. I believe that Iwata could not make it because of illness, but I believe it to be an illness of the soul. The sickness at the heart of modern Nintendo eats away at everyone involved.
  9. True fact: other gamers are idiots and they ruin my otherwise nice games. Down with mandatory or semi-mandatory co-op!
  10. Is it mandatory co-op? Because FUCK that noise.
  11. Remember, kiddos; Nintendo is just as cynical and anti-customer as Sony and Microsoft. Don't be fooled by their bright, friendly demeanor. It's all a ruse.
  12. No stutter on medium, and high requires 2GB of memory when my card is just 1.2GB. Seems like the video card is related to the issue. My completely uneducated guess is that the game streams high resolutions textures in more frequently than most open-world games, and that causes the stuttering. Maybe to reduce pop-in?
  13. I will say that Watch Dogs is the first game to really challenge the ol' GTX 570 1.2GB video card. If I set the texture quality to High, it sometimes stutters when I'm driving very fast between areas as the textures stream in. Makes me want to get a video card with 3GB of memory.
  14. Not as good as the hype, but not as bad as many say it is. I'd rate it as an above-average open world game.

  16. The word "fap." It sounds deliberately cutesy when used as a verb, which annoys me.
  17. Days of future past. The Quicksilver scenes were incredibly fun and may have been the most I've been entertained by a movie in a long time. The Avengers' Quicksilver will have a hard time being as memorable as X-Men's, and he's a main character in Avengers 2.
  18. Bought on the strength of reviews. Played a couple hours and it's pretty fun!
  19. Wolfenstein is actually a good game, surprisingly.

It's been 8 years since Call of Duty was about Nazis.

Yeah but they used to be THE nazi shooter. And I genuinely can't recall another successful nazi shooter since them.

FMW: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2014/140507e.pdf on page 3, they specifically mention adding DS games to the Wii U VC, and something vague about NFC on the gamepad.

      FMW

Yeah, but it isn't HAPPENING yet. In theory they're gonna release retail Wii U games too, but I don't give them credit for that until it happens either.

  21. Nintendo missed its goals for the 3DS and Wii U and post a yearly operating loss of $457 million. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-05-07/nintendo-profit-forecast-beats-estimates-as-iwata-seeks-growth http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/business/nintendo-expects-profit-this-financial-year-after-booking-46-4-billion-yen-loss/articleshow/34774137.cms Nintendo is fucked.
  22. I find Alien: Resurrection to be great cinema. It was even written by Joss Whedon!
  23. Amazing Spider-Man 2. It's a shockingly inept superhero movie without a single original plot point or character arc. The villains' plots make no sense; both start out as relatable characters who, during the course of the movie, have their morality switches suddenly flipped from good to chaotic evil. The movie half-asses the relationship between Peter and Harry and at no point does it ever really feel like they are best friends. Then again, they aren't best friends in the Sony Spiderverse; they were friends until they were ten years old, when Harry was sent off to boarding schools. So, a decade later during which it's made clear they had no contact, Peter just shows up at Harry's and they're buddies again. It's more awkward than intended and utterly undercuts Peter's internal conflict about being enemies with his best friend. It's also very sad to see poor Andrew Garfield get upstaged by Emma Stone in every scene they have together; she's obviously the real talent in that pair. I can understand why she got out of the Sony Spider-Man franchise after two movies.
  24. Suddenly got a pretty strong desire to play a Lego Game of Thrones game.

  25. Americans are generally a bloodthirsty bunch. Sadly, their thirst is aimed at poor criminals rather than the rich ones.
