  1. F2P is enough for me to never play, too.
  2. MOBAs. I mean, I guess one or two options is okay. But having a gazillion different MOBAs that feature essentially identical core gameplay is kinda dumb. The barrier to entry is so high that I suspect publishers will find their market exhausted very suddenly.
  3. A BioWare MOBA? That's some leveraging of their core competencies!
  4. The best Green Arrow is Hawkeye. The best Batman is Tony Stark.
  5. Take this discussion to the Lego Marvel thread, boys. This here's a citizen's mod post.
  6. I do not think it is mere coincidence that makes you recall Pynchon when reading Murakami.
  7. Kinda wrong, kinda right TCP; he left the forum!
  8. The new one is a full game and different. The browser game is more like a proof of concept; I don't think any of that stuff will be in the new game.
  9. How does it compare to other fantasy novels? Disclosure: I am a fan of sci-fi/fantasy genre books, but I can be picky.
  10. Have you read the other Dragon Age books, Ethan? Just how terrible are they?
  11. You've never met a person from Africa, Strangelove? Whoa.
  12. I like it a lot, although my early enthusiasm has been tempered. First, there are only two companions (aside from generic hirelings) in the game. there's talk that Larian will be adding a number of fleshed-out companions in an August patch, but I'm enjoying the game too much to put off playing it to wait. Second, there are not a whole lot of different enemy types, at least in the early game. It's not as bad as, say, Dragon Age 2, but it's noticeable. Other than that, I find that the game is great fun and a welcome throwback to old-school RPG design. I thought I would not like controlling both main characters' dialogue options, but it's actually very cool. Rather than shape a single Shepard or Hawke-type protagonist, you get to define two protagonists and their relationship to each other. Mine are opposed on a number of issues, which makes one of the companions quite critical of the protagonists. The lack of quest markers or obvious quest paths takes a bit to get used to, but I've adjusted just fine after a few hours of play.
  13. Preordered Civilization: Beyond Earth for 20% off on green man gaming a few days back.
  14. Good luck playing your PS4 and Xbone games when Sony and MS kill their online PS4 and Xbone online services in the future to get customers to migrate to the Xbox Next and PS6. At least if Steam dies, I'll most likely be able to buy cheap copies of the games I lost from GOG (assuming Steam doesn't allow folks to download and back up their games). I won't even have to wait for 'HD' versions compatible with the next-plus-one console generation. Anyway, I've never had to replace a digital game, and I've been buying digital for ten years. I have, however, had to replace a number of physical copies, including supposedly damage-proof blu rays for PS3, which I've used lightly and only had for two years. Anyway, that whole sense of ownership thing? That's just false consciousness.
  15. Digital distribution is the future. Affection for physical artifacts is a sickness of a late capitalism materialist culture. It's doubly troubling when one overvalues the physical manifestation of what is essentially an experience, a non-object. It's environmentally unfriendly and weighs down one's soul. I judge each DLC on its individual merits. I ignore stupid costume DLC and only consider buying expansion type DLC.
  16. And remember, the 360 didn't have any real competition in its generation at the time. Then again, console sales are only part of the picture; the costs of AAA game development (and marketing) are soaring. I think that what we'll see (and are already seeing) is higher-profile non-AAA games that do fairly well (enough for the devs to remain in business and put out more games). These include indie and kickstarter games. The huge AAA hits are not going anywhere; they're just getting riskier to make. II think we'll have recognizable video games for as long as we have civilization at the current level of technology.
  17. Consoles have a hard road ahead of them, true. Interactive digital entertainment (that is, video games) will be around for a long time.
  18. Fewer wars, but when big ones occur, they are really goddamn huge.
  19. Huell was not erased from reality by someone who claimed to love him and was not a major secondary character, awesome as he was.
  20. Heroes blew after season 1. The writers' strike fucked the season 2 storyline, which resulted in gaping plot holes and bizarre changes in character behavior. I am amused that Peter stranded his girlfriend in a terrible postapocalyptic timeline that he subsequently erased. Shows that just forget about major secondary characters are amazing in terrible ways.
  21. Half chips, half rice does not exist in lands with real and good food, like the USA. We pick our starches and STICK WITH THEM. Furthermore, chips, to us, are what you mistakenly call crisps in the UK. What you mistakenly call chips are actually French fries or just fries for short.
  22. Every Nintendo thread is a "Nintendo is fucked" thread.
  23. Divinity Original Sin is pretty rad, despite the stupid title.

    1. Vecha

      Vecha

      But I LOVE colons!

  24. Divinity Original SIn. I think I am in love.
