  1. We do love our slips of paper it seems. At least I got to vote, and I chose Design #6 as it would be like a motif to the previous BioShock games. A small female character alongside a behemoth who is designed as her sole guardian. It happens to be the cover for the art book too, but it seems that Design #4 is leading as of now. I would like that one too, but the logo stands out too much for such a finely illustrated piece. Design #5 is the one we were previously talking about as the cover, but as I thought, Booker's arm is cut off and it looks like he's simply a torso.
  2. I swear, after I get into my new job/career, I'll save up for a desktop because getting Metro 2033 for free was great, but on "Low," it still lags on my laptop.

Cyri is indeed just a guidelines (and pretty useless for laprops since mobile versions are different). Also this would be second person on here to get a free game n decide to upgrade PC.

I find it useful sometimes for telling me whether a specific component (usually my CPU) is better than something in the requirements when it's not immediately obvious from their model names, but that's about it.

Yeah graphics card is basically the only thing it can't really tell you it just compares based on known standards. But I'll eventually have to get a strong computer or the future steambox to run games like these and Farcry 3 without it being a powerpoint presentation

  3. if you're getting the Premium or Songbird Edition of the game, I think the cover is that last thing you would worry about looking at on your shelf.
  4. My mother has The Snowman on VHS, so I've seen it a few times. She shows it to her kindergarten class, but I'll have to let her know about the new one! She has a projector in the classroom, so she could definitely show it to her kids. Decorations whenever we get around to it, and one year I remember we put up the tree about five days before Christmas. When you're the only kid left in the house and at 18 years old, there wasn't much of a "deck the halls" incentive. Otherwise, I feel like my family's Christmases are rather tame. We don't have such a large family, and we rarely ever had an entire family get-together Christmas. Still, I think all the usual stuff is what I enjoy like Mickey's Christmas Carol and some of the Santa Claus stop-motion origin movies. (That fantasy one though, DAFUQ?!) Oh, and... (Personally I prefer Snow Miser's tempo, but that Heat Miser trombone!)
  5. Doing some Christmas shoppin', getting delicious eggnog, when I notice blood dripping from my left hand. It is officially "cold" this winter, SO GRAB THE LOTION!!!

Yeah, when it gets really cold out, all the moisture crystallizes and falls out of the air. Relative humidity is literally 0. Rev's right - I haven't tried a lot of Burt's Bees stuff, but their lip balm is a cut above the rest. It sticks and seals really well and doesn't just smear off in a minute.

  6. The second isn't a continuation of the first BioShock. It has entirely different characters (with the exception of Brigid Tenenbaum) set 10 years after, though you do get some scattered references to what happened in the first game, mainly summarizing what the protagonist did and how Andrew Ryan was a self-centered dick.
  7. If you look at the new trailer, I doubt any shooter fan is going to deny that Infinite looks to have great "gunplay." You're going to be doing a lot of insane stuff, and not just summoning ravenous crows and setting people on fire either. Ethan, while BioShock 2 didn't have as engaging and strong of a story/narrative as the first BioShock, it most definitely improved combat. If you ever get PS+, the game is FREE to subscribers. The first game I would unintentionally forget I even had weapons and went throughout most of it using powers instead. You dual wield in the sequel, which adds so much to the gameplay.
  8. About Mass Effect: No, not necessarily a major title, but EA does tend to spread their properties wide. Given how much praise (minus ending backlash) ME3 received, I'm sure it was a no-brainer to put the title on the Wii U the same year. Maybe it wouldn't make sense, but then again making a profit doesn't always have to, but if enough people bit down on ME3, we could see the trilogy ported to the Wii U. If they were concerned about a lack of interest given consumers already have the third game, but a unique two-game pack like we've seen on the PS3. Then again, I don't speak for EA. On Monster Cable: NO. I still remember the day my father spent $90 on an HDMI cable. When I kept trying to convince him there were cheaper options, NOPE! He's very much convenience over price at times when it comes to new technology. He does have the finance for it, but it pains me to see him spend that much. Sure, it's a great cable, but I would never had paid $90 for it.
  9. I say we forget this box/cover art business and watch the VGA premiere trailer a few more times. MMM, SO GOOD! 1. Elizabeth has 9.5 fingers. 2. HANDYMAN!
  10. Agreed. The interview explained it well enough. We're in a different mindset, we see it from a completely different perspective and therefore the cover is "generic" for a game that will have an outstanding world and mythos. It's not that it's competing against Call of Duty, but it's making itself familiar to that type of consumer. After all, if this frat guy only buys three games a year, Call of Duty is already taking one slot. Now it's a competition between your game and another. Those type of consumers are like how we might've been decades ago when resources were slim and without the vast pages of the Internet. People do still look at the back of a game case to read what a game is about if gaming isn't that big of a deal. They don't want to blow that $60 on something that's a bit sketchy to them, but if it's like "so-and-so," but a little more grander, then you can get a sale. It would be like selling Dishonored because it's similar to Assassin's Creed. Not entirely obviously, but to those "dudes," you're an assassin with blades and tools going off seeking truth by slitting throats.
  11. Not to mention EA has Mass Effect, which was being advertised at the Wii U kiosk I was playing. I don't believe the trilogy set is available, but given that the PS3 now has the first Mass Effect, I wouldn't doubt the trilogy making its way within half a year or so.
  12. Alright, I'm somewhat interested in this game, but I have to ask. Are the antagonists, especially "Vaas," even that good of villains? I mean, that guy is the poster child for the game, and I swear it's like Ubisoft wanted to make a Handsome Jack for their game. I understand though that he's not the main baddy, but still, you have to get invested if your character is suppose to go on a wild rampage,
  13. Not false advertising. No matter how much ends up getting used in the formatting process, whether it be 0.9GB or a significant 4GB, the drive itself is designed to 8GB capacity. Not like you could even download a majority of modern retail games with a full 8GB. There's an article somewhere out there, I think debating digital and disc, but all an 8GB model is good for is the Virtual Console where games range in the megabytes and not the gigabytes. Even a 32GB model wouldn't last you that long if you plan on going digital with your games. Software like Netflix though are a dozen or so megabytes, so if you want to keep your Wii U "casual," it's still possible to maintain relatively "free" disk space. EDIT: Oh, but yeah, I got to try a Wii U demo kiosk, but the only game they had was Rayman Legends. It was a very good game still, just wanted to try the actual current titles. I was surprised at how light the Wii U Game Pad was, but I think I would need some time to get use to the width of the pad.
  14. It's a good time to be getting back into Borderlands 2, what with the Facebook crew handing out SHiFT codes for winning tons of VGA awards.

  15. I absolutely HATE the fire alarms in my apartment complex. They are, without a doubt, excessively TOO LOUD! I'm going to request/demand that certain alarms be turned down because even plugging my ears wasn't enough when using the stair well. I think the assholes didn't factor in ambient noise!

FYI, I'm not going to actually demand any change because I'm aware they wouldn't do anything because more than likely it's to standard for the building type, but I will request they fix the exit doors that have to be slammed open when they constantly jam.

If you have an iPhone, you could grab an SPL meter like "Decibel 10th" and test the volume. If it goes off all the time, you may have a case for occupational health and safety violations or somesuch that would apply to apartments.

  17. Watching Game Grumps Nintendoland, and is it just me, or are people coming out and proclaiming their hatred for Skyward Sword? Or maybe they just want to agree with Jon and Arin, though in my opinion it seems like they just sucked at Skyward Sword.

I noticed that. But I'd say that's just fans following the bandwagon. I love their stuff but they literally have fanboys that will attack anyone who makes a joke against them or disagrees with them. As to SS, I think their main complaint was on the motion controls not being responsive. Probably also the repeating areas having different dungeons

      TheMightyEthan

I liked that the above-ground areas in SS had more to them than just being open areas for you to run through.

  18. Always caught a few episodes of Archer, but now that I'm on Netflix again, in three days I've finished the first two seasons. On a side note, I wouldn't doubt it that someone out there has used a candy bar wrapper as a condom.

  19. Results from my sleep study indicate that I have complex/mixed sleep apnea. Basically, it's a combination of both obstructive and central sleep apnea. One where you snore because of a physical obstrcution, and the other where you stop breathing for 10 - 30 seconds.

As Vecha said, I'm glad to hear that you did a sleep study and are taking care of this. My boss has really bad sleep apnea and did a sleep study as well. He had to wait a few months before they finally sent him the equipment he needed for sleeping. He was barely getting any sleep during that stretch, but now he says that he's getting some of the best sleep he's ever had. Hopefully you get the gear you need and things turn out well for you!

  20. I'll give you giant, but armored humaniods are not exactly uncommon. Assuming what could have been going through whoever's head, I'd guess they wanted to focus on Booker because the last two BioShock games had a silent protagonist. This time around your character has a mouth and uses it to interact with the other characters rather than stricktly with his firearms and/or powers. Still, I really couldn't care enough now. I forgot Booker's name, and Googling the title I came to this article which I think covers this well. Even if we get a revised cover, we're going to put it on our shevles and focus on the actual game.
  21. Even though I was prematurely stopped in Borderlands 2, I've began Dishonored instead. I'm trying not to kill people, but the game gives you so many ways to kill people!

    1. toxicitizen

      toxicitizen

Yeah, morality in Dishonored basically boils down to "Look at all these awesome powers! Are you a good enough person to not use them?!"

  22. I too agree the video thumbnail should have been the cover. But also, Dean, it's just following the common trend of box art this generation. Take a gander at the first Bioshock cover and you'll see it's positioned tilted left primarily featuring a Big Daddy. Yeah, Big Daddies are cool characters, and that pose (Xbox 360) is very imposing, but that's about it. It's not like I'm really trying to defend it, but it's nothing out of the ordinary at this point. Going through my collection, there's really only a handful that break the mold and make something more unique. i.e. Catherine, Portal 2, Rayman Origins, and Valkyria Chronicles.
  23. I got Internet back, but only through Ethernet. Well, the one lone cable I'm allowed to use that was suppose to be for my PS3. Timing has been my mortal enemy lately.

  24. Have to agree with Strange here. As much as we would like to have box art always be works of art, they're basically advertising, "Hey, this is your protagonist/anti-hero, he's tough and/or gets into dangerous/insane scenarios with bad dudes!"
  25. How I wish I could be playing my new PS3 instead of cleaning the collective flith of four adult men.
