  1. Doubtful as deeming success in selling 100% of a couple hundred thousand units isn't akin to selling, say, 60% of your 1 million units. I have to imagine that even if investors aren't fully capable of understanding every detail, they have expectations from multiple investor meetings. I doubt Iwata could blow that much smoke up so many asses. If anything, it's hurting Nintendo as it indicates they're a business incapable of meeting demand and allowing third parties profit beyond major retailer pricing.
  2. Definitely and I said something similar earlier in the thread. It's like an arcane process that one could see as being acceptable in 2005, but not 10 years later where the technology is clearly present. I'm serious, Nintendo has the pieces present in the 3DS, from accounts, history, expandable storage, and tech support that has your Nintendo Network ID info for assistance.
  3. Nothing too bad, however it had the potential to be a real pain in my ass. Driving down my home street, about to park in the garage, when a truck drives by and all their trash blows off their bed and flies just behind my car. If I had been a bit slower (didn't help having a few Sunday drivers), giant cardboard boxes and all sorts of bags would be smack-dab on my hood and windshield. Word to the wise, if you're going to be hauling your garbage, tie it down and do so especially when the wind is noticeably fast and harsh. Oh, and when you're about to turn onto the freeway where there's more cars that can create an accident.
  4. Agreed on the back plate. I too nicked a bit of the red on the very corner when I thought I could pry it loose with just my finger. Nope, the stylus of all things is a tool to pry loose the back plate. I was worried why the screws were making a clicking sound, but in hindsight it's a nice design so people don't lose the tiny screws. As for the transfer, I had a moment of worry when it seemed like I had missed a step between which buttons to push on what device. Never had a problem going from 3DS to Old 3DS, or Wii to WiiU, but something felt off. It was me, though I did have to redownload Four Swords Anniversary from the eShop. The game had a limited time availability, so something restricted it from copying over to my New 3DS. I had to go into my eShop History to download it too since it's not listed for purchase in the eShop. Otherwise, the thing is gorgeous. The enhancements are definitely welcomed and I'm sure I'll get use to the C-Stick (or C-Nub). My only gripe is the Power button as I have accidentally turned on the handheld with where the button is placed now.
  5. Anyone interested in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate? It's not exclusive to the New 3DS and I was always tempted to jump into Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) years back.

Atomsk I'd be down to playing with you every now and again. Issue is that I need to do a system transfer to my N3DSXL and that's gonna take a while from Nintendo. Until that happens I can't do it

I got it but idk whether to wait to hear from Nintendo to see if they can help me recover my NNID or make a new one to play online...

@Sky: you basically just need to call them and do a system transfer but it takes like 5-7 days

  6. Dang, that's rough. That's been a trend the last couple months hasn't it; retailers cancelling pre-orders because of Nintendo's low supply. There was actually a small opening to get the Majora's Mask 3D Limited Edition (the game) on Amazon. Unfortunately it was 10 minutes after my lunch break and I'm not the type who does online shopping while at work. Even if I were the type, it was only available for 13 minutes before it was Out of Stock again. Scalpers are asking for at least $149.99 for an item that's MSRP $49.99
  7. You're welcome, Mister Jack. I got my Red New 3DS right when Best Buy opened. It was 1 of 2 unclaimed systems sitting on their shelves.

  8. I usually have my lunch break when everyone is eating breakfast. Point? I can go to work and run off to Best Buy when the store opens and see what the scalpers have leftover!

Don't you mean the Nintendo "NEW" 3DS XL Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Edition. Better known as the "N3WDs" XL.

  9. I was going to suggest that if you're still looking for the adapter, GameStop had their bundles a month and a half ago. Thing is, I took a look right now and even those are sold out. Probably because people were doing what I did with it; purchasing and returning the controllers in the bundle into a local store. You would be momentarily out $60 bucks, and shipping wasn't free, but it was the only way of getting a cheap adapter.
  10. Not to mention that you would have to first make a Club Nintendo account separately from the initial setup of your console/handheld. Once you have an account, you have to manually go into the eShop and add your Club Nintendo so it can keep track of your downloads. The above will soon be a moot point, so maybe (if we're lucky) the new system will actually be integrated into the Network ID.
  11. It has to be Peter only because he's a bigger name that essentially spells out Spider-Man to the common audience. However, seeing as how the Marvel Cinema Universe is largely about continuity, we could have one eventually in a later Phase introducing Miles after the death of a new Peter.
  12. It's ghetto in this day and age, but when I said copy-paste, it really is about using a PC to backup and transfer data between an old card and a new card. The System Transfer doesn't require that method exclusively because what it will do is erase the content on the receiving 3DS system and transfer all the data from the sending 3DS. You can choose to transfer by wireless, but to me that has the potential for disaster.
  13. By default I wouldn't bother putting a new microSD into the New 3DS first because you can always copy-paste onto the new memory card after the System Transfer. I don't know why they would ask you about the memory card as the current 3DS systems, as I recall, don't mention it when setting up a transfer. Not to mention who knows what the default card has held on it for the initial boot. You know this is sad when trading Pokemon has become more sophisticated than having modern accounts.
  14. I had a Wii, but the game was rare as a GameStop exclusive. I normally don't go for handheld ports, but I'm okay with paying normal retail over $100 for the original console version off eBay.
  15. John Wick Simple plot, excellently executed. Everything you need to know is introduced in the first 10 minutes and it all folds out into an exciting revenge fueled mission. The undertone is that there's a hitman society, but it's more so nice flavoring to the film rather than a central focus. All you need to know is that you don't piss off The Boogeyman.
  16. Cautiously optimistic, though I never thought I'd see anything like a series because, as I've said before, Nintendo has been paranoid about their IPs for decades. Though I guess given "the times," Nintendo is becoming more open to different venues. Back in 2007 an animated pitch for a computer animated Zelda series was produced by the studio behind the computer animated TMNT film of the same year. Nintendo turned it down and I suspect that it was never in their interest to ever have a series. Having one now and it being a live action take on The Legend of Zelda leaves me only hoping they take an indirect approach if this goes through.
  17. Meant to post this three days ago. Normally I wouldn't bug you guys with small purchases, but considering each new wave of Amiibo become even rarer, this felt lucky. I had Toon Link pre-ordered through Amazon months ago, but the estimated delivery date was March 3rd. I thought maybe the release date for the entire wave was pushed back and thought nothing else. I went into Best Buy to buy a few movies when I thought of going through the video games. Took quick glances and there I saw a lone Toon Link on the bottom shelf. I snatched it and looked up the release date: February 1st. No other Wave 3 Amiibo were in sight, and so what I've learned in this new year I think will carry on throughout my life: Scalpers are some of the worst people, ever.
  18. My used 3DS ended up giving me $100 on eBay. Considering all the different factors at work, I would consider myself lucky. Then again, I had everything saved from purchase, so that's probably why I got so much. I still have some holiday money left over, so it looks like I'm only paying $30 out of my own pocket!
  19. It's possible, but expect high demand still and scalpers claiming in-store inventory. At this point I'm okay with a simple red New 3DS. It happens to match the red color of my AmazonBasics case so that's an aesthetic plus. Now I'd like to get the Limited Edition of Majora's Mask because I'm a sucker for that Skull Kid statue. EDIT: If you actively want to keep track of online stock, nowinstock.net is a good resource. I didn't bother signing up because by the time you get the alerts, a couple thousand will have the same result.
  20. I'm trying to understand the arguments, so I hope you don't think I'm directly opposing you here. I'm still in agreement it's a foolish concept that a company would have something so unnecessary where the alternative is to do nothing and let the LPers do what they do with the website they publish their material on. The only catch for myself is that I've seen LPs request takedowns, very rarely mind you, where their content that heavily relies on an original content now becomes new original content. It's a weird practice is all I'm saying, not that they don't have any legal right. Like, we've gone from a form of individual commentary to brands and communities revolving around watching video games. As I type that, I get deja vu to the Abridged Series era of YouTube and how now some have converted over to LPs. Strange times I tell ya.
  21. Yeah I would say that sounds much better of an analogy.
  22. I honestly don't get why Nintendo would make a big deal out of Let's Plays, except for how much they're paranoid about their brands now compared to the 80's. The best analogy you could come up with is that people who make LPs (or what have you) are like waiters at the YouTube restaurant. Sony and Microsoft don't mind giving you a tip (allowing ad revenue on YouTube) because that's part of the experience. Nintendo will give you a tip, but only if you bring them the daily special or their favorite appetizer, and then they'll give you a slightly smaller tip. If you live for tips, then I can see why you're miffed at Nintendo only meeting you part of the way.
  23. Which is why the most successful Let's Plays are part of a media group/business, i.e. Polaris, which in turn is part of Maker Studios. So that's why I don't see why the BIG Let's Players out there would care about the ad revenue off Nintendo games. Their paycheck comes from larger sources than just YouTube ads. Thus, people like Game Grumps still play Nintendo games. Of course, this beta program (or whatever) isn't that good simply because you only get revenue off a selection of Nintendo games. That's it. YouTube ad revenue will never be enough on its own for the millions of kids trying to be PewDiePie to make a living. Ya gotta kinda sell your soul to someone for that kind of money.
  24. I wouldn't be posting this if I hadn't nearly been sideswiped by a dually (dual-wheeled) pickup truck. Some coffee hut business opened up for business today. No big deal if you ask me, except they had a sales promotion for their opening day. One free cup of coffee. People are going crazy over getting a single cup of coffee. It was 1:30 PM when I left work and there was a traffic jam. I've been driving that part of town for years and I've never seen a traffic jam occur. There are three lanes though so I got over to the right to pass everyone wanting to go left. Well Mr. Pissy Pickup Truck ain't happy about this traffic either it seems and he wants to make the road a demolition derby. Going in and out of different lanes and the bastard nearly hits me before getting in the left lane passed all the traffic. My car is fine so things could be worse, but I'm surprised how much a cup of coffee can bring out such vehicular madness.
  25. Currently selling my original 3DS on eBay and getting a fair amount to begin with considering the New Nintendo 3DS is half a month away. Don't know what I'll end up doing with my 3DS XL since I need to keep it for the system transfer, though I imagine someone out their would like it for collection purposes.
