  1. I've barely touched online, but it was fairly good, especially considering how Random Match was in Brawl. I felt like there might have been a bit of lag, though at the same time I've been using the Wii Classic Controller Pro (over my Wii U Pro Controller) since the adapter is still hard to find in stores and online. I've been told even in offline there's a delay when using any of the control methods going through the Wii Remote. I still do very well, but damn if I could just have that adapter. Yesterday a store got in three Smash Edition GameCube controllers, but who's going to buy those without and adapter?!
  2. Sorry, I goofed on that part. I meant to say Ascendant as all you do need is planetary material and a good amount of glimmer. The final power node requires an Exotic Shard, so technically you'll need two Exotic Shards if you want your old Exotic to be new and improved. The first for the trade-in and the second for the final power node. However, in the Bungie Update Preview, it says (as a bullet point under New Exotic Upgrading): Each week, Xûr will possess a selection of upgrades for existing Exotics in his inventory It sounds as if you may not be so lucky if Xur can only have, say, X amount of Exotic armor and Y amount of Exotic weapons available to view. Truth be told there are not that many Exotics yet, but it has people worried over the PlayStation exclusives. It all comes down to how there were players excited with the new Exotic changes earlier this week so they went crazy with upgrading their improved Bad JuJu, Thorn, and etc. Now they feel like the should have left them in the Vault because all that progress will be reset if they want to upgrade for the DLC.
  3. So before a lot of people were satisfied with the new patch. And then this happened today. Game Informer Preview: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2014/12/03/stare-into-the-dark-below-new-details-on-the-destiny-expansion.aspx Official Bungle Update Preview: http://www.bungie.net/7_The-Dark-Below-Preview/en/News/News?aid=12442 TL;DR Current Exotics have the opportunity to be buffed for DLC. The process requires Xur (who's only at the Tower on weekends), the old version of your Exotic, and the new Exotic Shard. Well, Xur also has to be offering that upgrade in his limited selection of the week. Also, you'll probably spend 7 Strange Coins for the Exotic Shard, unless you feel up to dismantling an Exotic. Also all progress, that includes glimmer, planetary materials, and ascendant materials, is lost and you have to level up the Exotic again. It's stated as being faster, especially without the need for planetary materials. One more thing, all your current beloved Legendaries are obsolete.
  4. I'm not sure if it's so much satire instead of "rich white kid is having the worst day ever and has to become a killer to save his preppy friends." Then you get into the whole "become a warrior" (with some booty incentive) which culminates in friendship versus ultimate warrior (and booty).
  5. Got Wolfenstein The New Order first in my set of new games. Waiting on a 5GB update file to download.

You got two ways to play. Stay in cover or go right up to murder the Nazi bastards.

  6. Just be prepared to face the cheapest AI when trying to unlock Duck Hunt. The fury is still there! P.S. Villager is a beast.
  7. I'm happy with it because of all those Exotic fixes. One they didn't mention is that The Last Word is now holstered on your leg like other handcannons (when playing Hunter). It always looked goofy hanging off your back. The change in upgrading Exotics too because I always saved my Ascendant Energy for Exotic weapons. Also, I've been capped at 200 Vanguard Marks, so buying materials is fantastic. I only ever had 50+ material when farming for weapons. Well, technically I've had 50+ Relic Iron twice by casually picking it up and turn it into Rep and Glimmer. It's not worth it for the time you put in dorkin' around the surface. The Cryptarch thing does bother me a bit as I had ranked up recently, but at least there's a better chance of Legendary stuff because the rate on those was ridiculously low.
  8. Can't see it on mobile, but now I'm on my Chromebook. I see it, but I don't have the controls either. But yes, the Lucas Edition is hilariously good.
  9. EDIT: .gifv isn't working, so follow the link. http://imgur.com/hllhJpP http://i.imgur.com/hllhJpP.gifv
  10. The only lightsaber I dislike (so far) is the one used by The Inquisitor from Star Wars Rebels. He's basically another Sith, but he has the most gimmicky lightsaber I've seen. At first it wasn't bad; looked like a rapier. Then he had two blades... so Darth Maul Lite? Oh, but get this, it spins!
  11. I've got Wolfenstein: The New Order too. I should be covered for myself for the next couple months as I got a few other non-game stuff during Black Friday.
  12. Of what I've read and seen (and I swear I've seen that lightsaber somewhere before), the only rationale I could see for that design is having a guard against other lightsabers. Thing is, I don't believe there would ever be a need for a guard with the lightsaber dueling I've seen, unless there's some "Form" I don't know of. Otherwise, you've built your lightsaber incorrectly if it's unstable. Not to mention you should probably be dead at some point.
  13. I've made a monster! No, really, my Link Amiibo is now kicking my butt at Lv. 35, but in the course of trying to defeat him, I only raised his level! He's Lv. 39 right now and I only ever took one stock each time during our 3 stock matches. I mean, I actually gave him positive stat bonuses (where usually it's give n' take) and he has a deadly arsenal of bonuses. I gave him extended invincibility after respawn, stronger upwards Smash attack, and finally stronger Smash attacks when holding down longer. Let me tell you, you do not want to be in the air when this Amiibo is playing.
  14. I love how Netflix will occasionally ask if I'm still watching the TV series. Trust me, I get someone might forget to pause, but I'm on a marathon tonight!

    1. TCP

      TCP

It always makes me feel a little ashamed. It's like Netflix is telling me people don't typically watch TV for this long. DON'T JUDGE ME, NETFLIX!!!

  15. True, just for the same cost as a Skylanders figure, mine does more than what we've seen with that franchise. The data for Link is primarily for Smash, but I'm still getting little bonuses for what could easily be $2.99 micro-transactions for each game. I'm not denying what our own Mr. GOH said because it's 90% true, but my only gripe would be these figures seem more worthy of their $12.99 price point than Skylanders. It is a plastic figure that is going for the Skylanders market, but what they do so far interests me as far as a portable AI partner that you can manage with training and bonuses. My only complaint, like in JWittz video, is how you can't take them into Co-Op modes. (I guess AI may not be helpful in certain modes.) As far as how they actually learn, I have to assume it's a mix of both standard Smash AI but also the adaptable AI that handles different characters with the set moves you've equipped them with. That's the other thing I like so far in Smash, customization of character move sets. Sometimes that one move you don't like with a character can be changed to a different, more preferable move. EDIT: Also, I hope you don't think I'm trying to convince you to buy one. They're fun, but money you can easily spend elsewhere if you don't invest a lot of your time in Smash.
  16. Technically, my one Amiibo works for three of my games: Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, and Hyrule Warriors. Not to mention my one lone figure could work for other games in the future. Unlike Skylanders where each new installment has proprietary figures with a new gimmick, my Link Amiibo can be one figure with different gimmicks. I've said before though I'm not going to go crazy and buy a whole series because so far only Smash Bros makes extensive use out of them. Mario Kart 8 is only a Mii costume and Hyrule Warriors you get different items.
  17. I won't bother with images. Shadow of Mordor (PS4) -$25 The Evil Within (PS4) - $25 Killzone: Shadow Fall - $20 I got early access to Best Buy's Black Friday. There were definitely other games with great deals, most essentially being 50% off. I've always wanted Killzone: Shadow Fall, but being this late into the game I know I probably won't try multiplayer, so $20 is good enough for single player. Always wanted Shadow of Morder, but had other games to occupy my time. Last, The Evil Within I wasn't too into and seemed like I could pass, but after watching Two Best Friends (or I guess Super Best Friends now) play it a bit, I thought $25 was worth playing.
  18. And he'll only become stronger! No, but seriously, when JWittz (YouTube) did a video on the Amiibo for Smash, I was confident in my pre-order. His Lv. 50 Amiibo was able to trash Lv. 9 CPU characters, give him a run for his money, if not learn and adapt to his play style. (Seeing Ethan just responding, I'll post the video.)
  19. About to begin playing, but turns out any GCN controller adapters have been sold out in town. Heck, take a look on Amazon and you have a few people thinking they can sell the $20 item for $80. Good thing I have a Wii U Pro controller as that's the next best thing. I also happened to notice the Amiibos were still around, but definitely Link and Samus were the favorites as there were barely any left. Fox was probably the third, but I figure people will have him as a Main instead of an AI partner.
  20. Never have I witnessed such booty and confusion in one sitting, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
  21. I hope to see all able personnel in Smash Bros soon. Waiting on the delivery, but I'm going to see if I can snag the GCN controller adapter in-store.

I'll have it on Xmas. "Getting it for the wife" so we both can enjoy it.

I suck at fighting games...and smash makes it even more complicated for my feeble mind...so if you need to let out some aggression/need a confidence boost...I'm your man!

Smash is deep but with a low barrier to entry. Honestly more fighting games could learn from it in that regard.

My wife and I are splitting it, going to pick it up sometime this week so we can play it with her brother while he's in town for Thanksgiving.

  22. Pretty much what everyone has said. Only other game I would mention is Tomodachi Life if you want your Mii characters to live life via surrealism.
  23. I'm sure you guys noticed I've still been playing Destiny for an hour or two most days. I've actually made two alts so I can say I've squeezed every ounce of the game's content by playing the different classes. Thought I would put it down because I'll have new games like Smash for Wii U and others I obtain from Black Friday. Except, well, Xur has come back to the Tower. Sure, Exotic Armor we've seen before, no big deal. The Exotic Weapon he has this week... THE LAST WORD It has been the Exotic I've been wanting from the game for weeks. I have seen teammates obtain the weapon in front of my eyes, but RNGesus has sought to bestow other Exotics to my Hunter. All of that doesn't matter as now my goal for the game is to earn 5 Strange Coins in this limited time frame. I will not be denied my birthright as a Hunter!
  24. Oh I like the sales, but I'm the only one in my family who actively looks online and through ads for deals. Amazon has usually had some fantastic deals around the time of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and some days between and after. Most of my shopping last year was just Amazon and Best Buy online (as far as I remember).
  25. http://bfads.net/ Yo, it's that time of the year again and we've got ad scans! Funnily enough a lot of the video game sales are similar and I don't believe it's because of a manufacturer's discount. Some selection of games will be $5 more or less depending on the store you shop. I noticed some recent releases being priced at $25, so you know I'll be getting Shadow of Mordor and KIllzone: Shadow Fall (finally). Obvious console bundles; the PS4 bundle I feel is the best includes The Last of Us and GTA V. Personally, if I was in the market for an Xbone, the MCC bundle for $329.99 is tempting. Of course a lot of doorbusters, so screw that noise. I'm not the type to be waiting Thanksgiving evening to buy entertainment. It's not like it's going anywhere anytime soon. Online shopping is where it's at, even if there are exclusive in-store offers only. I rather be filled with food in the warm of my home than freezing my ass off hoping there's enough Product X left in-stock.
