  1. Ubisoft... why did I even bother listening/watching you at work?

  2. The only good demon is a dead demon. So let's make these demons good!
  3. It really is breathtaking. No, you're breathtaking!
  4. I would say it's a high "OK" movie if you're into giant monsters fighting. The human stuff in Godzilla is always a mixed bag. I haven't seen every Godzilla movie, but I get the impression human story works better when Godzilla is the antagonist rather than our ally. Not a golden rule, but it gives more purpose to the humans when they have to fight Godzilla. That said, Godzilla has always had weird stuff tied to it. King Ghidorah does (I guess I should spoiler tag this...)
  5. I hope to be competitive in the standard multiplayer stuff. It is where I spent half my time in Destiny 1 and a good portion in Destiny 2. I'll have to see come September 17.
  6. I'm going for that starter too. I don't hate Scorbunny or Sobble, but Grookey is adorable. Still will have to see what their final evolutions are.
  7. What I care about right now is that Destiny 2 has cross-save support. At first only PC and Xbox were confirmed, and with Sony being... Sony, I was scared. But even Sony is on board and that means all my progress won't go down the drain! It's just such a beautiful game on PC, though again it'll take time to get use to the movement on keyboard.
  8. You can also watch the Nintendo Direct from Wednesday morning, but this is the bulk of everyone's excitement. There has also been add confidence to a certain leak from a few weeks ago. If true, I'm ecstatic for the opportunity to capture an Electric-type corgi! And I'm still committed to getting Pokemon Shield because while Zacian is spot-on Sif from Dark Souls, I think Zamazenta is cool looking too and makes for a good Shield Hero.
  9. Alright, final build for my sister and brother-in-law. CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI - B450M BAZOOKA V2 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 760 2 GB TWIN FROZR Video Card Case: Cooler Master - MasterBox Q300 MicroATX Mini Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair - CXM 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply Wireless Network Adapter: Asus - PCE-AC55BT B1 PCIe x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter Case Fan: Cooler Master - MasterFan Pro 140 Static Pressure RGB 3 in 1 with RGB LED Controller So I upped the processor since I'll be giving them my old GPU. If he ever fancies playing a gamer, he's set. Not to mention the processor will future proof them for a good while. I was tempted to give them 8 GB of RAM, but that's become the standard and I'd rather give them enough breathing room for their applications (and maybe games). Saved money going with a SSD rather than a NVMe because while the board supports it, nothing justifies spending the money on it for them. The power supply is overkill, but it's also on sale and Corsair is top notch. The wireless adapter is the same one I use for my desktop to give it Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and it's been good over the last couple years. Lastly, those case fans are dirt cheap on Amazon from a third party seller. I didn't know the difference between Air Flow and Static Pressure at first, but given that they'll be in a Micro ATX case, I don't think there will be much difference in performance. It's not a decked out gaming rig that needs air flow at specific areas or components.
  10. For John Wick 3: John Wick 2 (and 3) builds upon the hitman/assassin underground society, so there's something for these films to explore. The most recognized and accomplished assassin in the world doesn't get to just pop up and hide once more so easily.
  11. Oh yeah, totally forgot about Zero. That guy was a riot. I loved his introduction and Which of course means he really wants to kill John Wick himself.
  12. Hmm... I'm trying to decide if I should give my brother-in-law my old GTX 760. I haven't heard back from him yet on whether the PC I'm building for him should be good enough for gaming. I'm assuming his answer will be no since I doubt he'd have the time to play games, but if I have a GPU on hand and would only need to up his processor to something like a Ryzen 5 2600 instead of a Ryzen 3 2200G, that's not nearly as expensive as getting a brand new GTX 1660 (or 1660Ti). I'm just thinking if I should even bother putting a 6 year-old GPU into his tower. ?
  13. John Wick 3 Or should I say, I prefer it over the second movie, though the plot takes an odd twist. I should say the action and fights are very intense and memorable. I have trouble recalling certain parts of the second, more so I remember the gist of the film. Maybe that's the curse of a film having to create a series out of a self-contained and satisfying first movie. Granted, all these movies have been entertaining and I would certainly see more. Well, so long as they don't get bonkers with the plot, like say aliens. But yeah, the plot:
  14. Oh lawd, last night was frustrating. So the only thing I didn't do with my new setup was restore some old docs and etc. A coworker of mine offered up his copy of the Windows Easy Transfer which, as I remember it, was a great assist for Windows 7. It does a good job recognizing the appropriate files and folders... perhaps too well. Easy Transfer was discontinued for Windows 10, though you can run it on the OS. Problem is, with the feature set of 10, things aren't going to cleanly go back into place. The most obnoxious and unsolved issue I ran into was how a system file was thrown into OneDrive! Try as I may, even with elevated privileges, I could not remove it. Also, my Restore Point was removed somehow so at the end of the day I said screw it and reinstalled Windows. I didn't have much added back onto my setup at that point, so it came down to getting OS updates and graphics drivers once more. Thankfully I put important folders on a separate storage device from the backup, so when I do want them, it'll be a simple copy-paste.
  15. Banjo-Kazooie, hands down, no question, period. Never did get to play the sequel, but also people rave about Conker's Bad Fur Day.
  16. After Jared Fogle and now Jared Knabenbauer (ProJared), I'm thinking "Jared" won't be a popular name for a while with new parents.

Jared also had the balls to make a comment on Twitter like nothing has happened. People are just digging in. Also:

Just a word of warning, do not go into those replies on that tweet.

Ah. There they are. I was there when it was rather tame but now, yeah, avoid.

Should probably ignore Jared starting now. Probably the best way to deal with the likes of him.

  17. Late to the Dragon's Dogma discussion, but I too yearn for a sequel to the game. I played the original version of the game and even had the BradyGames guide to help me navigate the large world and combat the varying enemy types. The bosses you could encounter in the game's endgame were brutal, but again this is before the expansion that required buying the game all over. It does fix a lot of things, but you couldn't bring over your original save. Starting over in an RPG is asking a lot on the player. Heck, I didn't want to have to recreate my amazing Pawn! Eventually Dark Arisen became a PS Plus game and that's how I got it. In a sense, and I don't know if this was fixed in Dark Arisen, but doing NG+ was awful. The enemies didn't scale with you, so you' be somewhere Lv 60-70 and mindlessly swinging because everything dies in one or maybe two hits. So you might as well start over. The things I remember most were the killer Hybrid classes, goblins don't like fire, and "They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong."
  18. Well, I've finished upgrading and it nearly gave me a heart attack. So the first "Oh Please No" moment of the night was when the Ryzen 2700X processor popped out of the plastic packing and fell on one of my sticks of RAM. Not even a full foot difference, but it was metal-to-metal and I could see a slight bending on the outside pins of one side. I was tempted to try pushing them in place, but as soon as I laid my finger tip on the pins I knew that would only bring more trouble. They were only slightly bent, so with a little push in the socket, it corrected them (or at least enough for the processor to fit). Then I discovered my old RAM was in fact DDR3 and the new board needed DDR4. Ran to the store, dragged an employee back to the PC components, and raced back home where my PC was still on the operating table. Got Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3000MHz. Definitely not bad and the store (Best Buy) had them for the same price as Amazon and Newegg. Low profile so you won't have a fancy metal sheath nearly touching your air cooler. The 2700X's heatsink is fantastic and a pain in the ass to get on. Had to take it off and flip it around because the clamp is biased for a certain fit (or at least easier for the user). Thermal paste was already spread, but it still stayed on the processor so I'm not worried about any damage. Accidentally installed Windows on the wrong drive, so I had two instances of it. I already had everything I needed backed up, so I said screw it and formatted my drives and did a real fresh install. However, the Windows profile/boot was still on D drive, so I had to use msconfig to delete it. After downloading I don't know how many drivers and dealing with the Windows 10 experience, my PC is at a basic setup right now. The RAM isn't at it's fast speed, but I updated the BIOS and it's using all 16GB instead of 8GB now. Now I won't have to do this again for another 6-7 years!
  19. So I guess I'm a bit of a liar because I've change my mind on... everything. I did a lot more research, compared pricing, and even looked at my local stores to see their stock. While the Intel i5-9600K is technically more powerful, I'm liking that the Ryzen 2700X is right up there with it at 8 cores 16 threads. The CPU Usage is usually much lower, so even if you're getting 10-20 more frames with the i5-9600K, it might be because CPU Usage is at 80% instead of 50%. Also, we're calling about the 100-200 framerate range and my goal is to get a smooth 60 fps (though 120 might be nice). The stock cooler is actually useful and will allow you to safely OC to a moderate level. Part of this change of heart is that I discovered I can configure my case to make more room for my GPU. It might not be as easy as a newer case, but I rather save $50-80 by reusing my current case. The other part is that my local Best Buy carries the Ryzen 2700X and MSI B450 Tomahawk motherboard. While Newegg might not apply sales tax, it would be nice to drive 5 miles and return a potentially faulty board versus dealing with shipping. The motherboard fits my needs without being overkill, though the MSI X470 Gaming Plus is a great board. I just don't ever see myself using SLI on my budget.
  20. Huh, I guess this could mean a few things.
  21. I think one of the deciding factors is if I still want a 5.25 bay for my CD/DVD drive. On one hand, without it I have more room and better airflow. On the other, I lose the ability to use older disc material or help out family who still use CDs. To think the hardest part for me is the case. I was momentarily struggling between upgrading to the Intel i5-9600K or swapping to AMD's Ryzen 2700. I'm sticking with Intel as you get more out of it even at 6 cores. If I was a streamer and video editor I would have gone for the Ryzen 2700. Pretty much if I'm not working with my PC, I'm solely playing a game on it and if I need to do anything else, I have my smartphone on me.
  22. Seeing Endgame again tonight. Doing my part to beat Avatar (and because I love the movie 3000).

I'd say most films I don't know the 'names' of the characters compared to the actors.

Not only do I usually not know characters' names, if two characters are the same sex, race, and have the same color of hair it usually takes me at least half the movie to learn to tell them apart, unless they have some other really distinguishing feature like massively different builds.

That might make me sound racist, but it includes white people, so really I'm just bad at facial recognition.

I just think Avatar is kinda forgettable other than it being Space Pocahontas with blue cat people. I usually remember characters well from movies I thoroughly enjoyed or were huge phenomenon. Heck, I remember more about James Cameron's Titanic than the world of Avatar. Gawd dang cat people having hair sex up in their ancestral mind trees!

  23. Is it just me or do the huge nostrils also look really weird. If they're gonna go for a more cartoony look, maybe ditch the nostrils (or at least shrink them)?
