  1. Finished the game, though maybe I should have taken a break before the final fight. I goofed up and a quirk of mine is that I tend to not feel like I've earned a game's ending. With how much more open the environment can be in Infinite, as opposed to the previous games, it can be a challenge finding enemies (especially when they blend in) until they begin damaging you. I'm not too surprised at the ending. I really tried to keep an eye out for voxophones, and I knew I probably would have missed a few, but I think I missed a dozen. Do these carry over for trophies? I got real close to the machine gun 150 enemy one at the end, but now I'm going into 1999 mode. I honestly don't know if I can get that Scavenger trophy though after the "Siren" fight. Oh, and favorite Vigors would have to be Return to Sender, Shock Jockey, and (eventually) Possession. My two favorite pieces of Gear: Rising Bloodlust and Angry Stompers. The first one increases weapon damage after a kill (up to five times), though to stack it, kills have to be done within 10 seconds. The last one doubles damage when health is low (which it always was at the end). EDIT: It's Booker. Mr. DeWitt, though he prefers to be called Booker.
  2. Thing is, typically significant premieres are given a few months in advance to allow different types of viewers a chance to catch an advertisement either on television or elsewhere. For Nick to begin promoting the Book 2 premiere with roughly two weeks would be ludicrous in an effort to gain a high enough exposure for what is unarguably their #1 series. Heck, dedicated fans should be at the point of fully being aware of the air date, but all that we've been given is Janey Varney saying "Mid-April" for what could actually be a trailer/preview clip. That seems the more likely: a complete preview of Book 2. EDIT: All we have of Book 2 is some animatics and a fan's recreation of Bryan's posted pics.
  3. I haven't finished the game yet, but I truly am enjoying the experience. I have been noticing the changes from the earlier design where Booker and Elizabeth would be playing a more active role in Columbia's affairs. Stopping a public sentencing, choosing whether to engage a certain character who threatened Booker, and etc. There have been moments in the game where it felt like it should have been an option. For example, the two men who try to rob Booker outside the bar in Shantytown. I thought I would have an option, but rather than a button prompt, it was either choosing to shoot the men or turn around. The combat feels like a mix between the first BioShock and the second game. One of the biggest downside to the first was the combat. The plasmids were so awkwardly incorporated into combat where you either chose to shoot your guns, or shoot your plasmids. As Delta in the second game, you duel-wielded, which was massively fun. Thing is, that was a Big Daddy and Booker is human. Infinite is like a 1.5 in combat. You don't have so many weapons because you're put into a position where you'll have to use vigors in conjunction with guns. Honestly I don't care for how many vigors have a trap function and would like some to have a "stream" effect where you hold down to inflict as much damage as needed rather than stunning enemies. It would have been nice to have three weapon slots than two, so I could have a long, mid/specialty, and short range layout. Still, at the same time you can find weapons once you defeat enemies or look around, so you're never without an option to switch out (especially with Elizabeth opening tears).
  4. The voice actor for Bolin confirmed long ago that Bolin would be getting a love interest, just not specifically who. Also, it was Janet Varney (Korra VA) a few days who said [to a fan] on Twitter that the show would be out mid-April. Now, there was speculation beforehand of a trailer debuting in April, so she could have been mistaken about what would be out in April. Because, you know, if Korra was returning that soon, Nick would be advertising the snot out of it on television, online, and shouting from the rooftops "THE LEGEND RETURNS MONTH-DAY 2013!!!"
  5. Is it me or does the carbine suck? I'm getting into the part of the game where the other weapons are becoming available, so now I have more options. Still, I would swap the pistol, shotgun, and machine gun. Then I got that gatling gun from a patriot bot and didn't put it down for the next hour.
  6. I just got to the part where you can improve Possession's capacity. It makes it "usable" now.
  7. I'm taking my sweet time with BioShock Infinite. There's so much detail in the world and Elizabeth's character. I BET ALL YOU JERKS DIDN'T LET HER EAT COTTON CANDY!

I let her eat cotton candy!

Yeah for the most part she'll just wander and gaze at stuff, most of the "special" interaction is at the start. Such as not going into male toilets, watching Dimwit & Duke, eating cotton candy etc.

So...the IGN demos were lies? LIES?

  8. Yep, I began on Hard (still am), and turrets are beasts at first. Booker will get diabetes at game's end because anything you eat seems to give you a sliver of health.
  9. I figure we can put any "The Search - Part 1" discussion right in here. Again, we're getting a few hints at the foundation of Republic City, especially Toph's involvement. However, for this issue, it was a few pages. The Search is definitely crafting a compelling story of Ursa, her hometown, relationship with Ozai, and her life in the Fire Nation. One thing of note is how mature this arc is setting itself when compared to the show. Obviously there were some mature issues with the main cast in The Last Airbender, but we're witnessing a new level with this graphic novel. I won't spoil it, but it honestly makes sense given Ozai's contempt nature toward his own family.
  10. The Search came with my copy of BioShock Infinite. If I can get anything done before work, it's reading Azula going bonkers.

The Last Airbender graphic novel where the plot is finding Lady Ursa, Firelord Zuko's banished mother. It's another three part series where Part 2 won't be out till July.

Oh, something completely unrelated to Bioshock haha. Nevermind.

  11. And Malicious says he's a slut. (Then again, I get everything that's in the Songbird edition, minus the Songbird and extra $70.)
  12. I dunno, Strangelove did it... Here, I'll try something else! Snape kills Wrex!
  13. A response to Damsel in Distress, and a great one to boot.
  14. If you're still on the fence about BioShock Infinite, of the few reviewers I've read or watched, Adam Sessler does it best:

  15. I was doing my Renegade run last I played ME3, which led me to the part where if you're truly choosing all the Renegade options, you shoot Mordin. Coincidentally, that's when my PS3 experienced the YLOD for the first time, so make of that what you will.
  16. Yep, reviews have been universally "great" to "excellent" so far. As a precaution though, I suggest no one scroll down to any of the reviews' respective comments section as some are taking it upon themselves to tell us this game's version of "Snape killed Dumbledore." I scrolled down just a little bit and the second most recent comment was an endgame spoiler. Given what I already know about the game's mechanics and world, it seemed likely to be true. Still, I think this'll be a game where it's the journey/experience of getting to the end that will matter more than a twist.
  17. Gloating? It's an infograph, not an achievements list. I think I would judge them more harshly if they told me how many kilos of cocaine they did than some employees drinking a few cans of soda at work. How long is too long, and to what degree does length then always equate to shit? If a game is rushed, i.e. Survival Instinct (six months), then you could assume it will be bad. If a game has gone through three different studios, each starting the development phase over, then you could assume it will be bad. Delaying a game for a few months longer to make sure what you want launched to the masses is the vision you had for the entire project? Let others play it and weigh it in their hands. And any studio, publisher, or journalist who takes the time to mock Irrational on an infograph "for years to come" must not have anything worth saying if that's all.
  18. All there is to novels are words, so that's kinda "apples to oranges." Now if you find the average script length of video games, then we could see how significant it could be to be both longer than a theatrical film and novel. I imagine a few games like L.A. Noire hold the same achievement. And Duke Nukem Forever? C'mon, you know that had a lot more problems than just "14 years" in what we're suppose to call "development?" Even efficient power consumption is consumption, you don't know if any one individual drank too much soda as it is a combined total of all employees, code may not always be Arial 12 point, but you can always make the point that modern video games require astounding lengths of code to function. And maybe this was suppose to be a little silly? You could, perhaps, say that it's a little... Irrational?
  19. The Mass Effect one was game stats involving player interaction and choices, sorta like the stats for The Walking Dead. This is tame because it's just telling us what went into the game as far as time and energy. The first two (script and spoken words) impresses me because, thinking back to all the different previews, there is content to the world of Infinite. The rest is typical, "Hey, human beings made a video game."
  20. I did not know when the contest ended, let alone remembering about the contest after voting so long ago. Besides, it changed in appearance from what we were originally shown too. Anyway, lil' chart posted on Facebook.
  21. Ever since I used a skin for my GBA SP, I swore off skins for gaming handhelds. Unlike console skins, you're constantly touching and feeling the skin, and honestly I don't think there's a skin out there that would feel good when palming it for a few hours.
  22. Remember all that hub-bub about the cover art? Remember how we got to vote for the alternative? Someone made a post about it on r/gaming, and so the winner was... It was my second choice, though the cover I wanted will be on the artbook (if I ever want it). Thing is, my only complaint about the above cover was fixed: the logo! The preview we saw when voting had the standard Infinite logo that looked out of place, but now it's illustrated like the rest of the piece.
  23. Thought today was Thursday, have to wake up in the dead of night to work, so yeah, time may be an illusion but it sure as hell hits hard.

  24. I highly doubt Survival Instinct will sell more than Telltale's Walking Dead. There's so much more working for that game (sales promotions, retail release, word of mouth, etc) that a turd of a game that has five reviews, which only two are major reviewers, and all with a very low score, along with avid fan hatred... It just can not do better.
