  1. If the RetroN 4 actually turns out good (HDMI isn't magic), and the GBA slot allows for GB and GBC games, I will gladly get one.

Well the RetroN 3 is $70, and surely the RetroN 4 will be at LEAST that expensive.

And what we're saying about the Ouya is that it can replace the functionality of the RetroN and also be way more versatile.

I'll have to see both in action. I honestly don't see the hype in the Ouya other than being a nice little console capable of interesting services. Isn't the Ouya suppose to be running on a modified Jellybean OS?

      Yeah, it's Android.

  2. I haven't seen the film yet, but every time I see that flying monkey on television, I lose interest in the movie. It looks like he's a sidekick and I have a strong feeling I'm going to hate that monkey. My family wants to see it though, so I guess I'll deal with it.
  3. Bryan's (co-creator) blog with a photo at a color correction session for Book 2. Yeah, this was about a month ago, but I keep forgetting to check the blog. After watching The Last Airbender (twice) and Legend of Korra all over again, I'm really craving the next Book. Compared to the original series, Korra is kinda absent in the market aside from short books for kids and some online flash games. EDIT: Oh, and if anyone doesn't know yet, Grey Delisle (Princess Azula and Kya) will not only be voicing that "Evil Spirit," but two other characters in Book 2. One is unknown, but the other is hinted at being a younger version of a previously established character. Fans are split either between a younger Lin, or a child Asami. If it were between the two, I'd pick Lin because we're probably going to get some flashbacks on Tenzin's and Lin's past relationship and what exactly caused them to drift apart.
  4. I'll admit Revanchist, you got me to visist Kotaku after so long to see that Mormon article. Seems the title was changed from a Fallout perspective at how the faith was incorporated into characters of the Honest Hearts DLC, which I know nothing about because I didn't play New Vegas. (I never even finished Fallout 3 after 120 hours.) Definitely was altered to get more views, and spur a lot of comments. I know William Taggart from Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a "Mormon" character, only because there's a single email on his computer consisting of someone telling him to go back to Utah, multiple wives, etc. I'm aware of actual people in the industry, active or not, but it's not like I have them all memorized. If I ever talk about it, it's at a moment like this where I could say, "Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari, Chuck E. Cheese's, and co-creater of Pong was raised in the church." Oh, and Sandy Peterson, a.k.a. id Software designer for Doom, Doom II, and Quake. Otherwise, I ain't care. A lot of minorities could be represented in video games, whether it's by sex, race, religion, culture, and so forth. What makes it matter is whether it actually adds anything to the game, its narrative, and its characters other than a bit of trivia you find on a lone wiki page. Something like how Jetstream Sam from Rising: Revengeance can be an actual person since Japanese immigrants established Kenjutsu dojos in Brazil rather than, "Why does this Spanish-sounding guy know samurai stuff? THAT DON'T SEEM RIGHT, RIGHT?"
  5. Cool tech, good pizza, less white guy posing with Japanese virtual idol. It's MIKU~
  6. Isn't that the one with the toothbrush scene and all the camera recording said brushing?
  7. Had a suck day at work, passenger side of car got drenched inside, but tonight I caught the Kenan & Kel episode "The Tainting of the Screw," a.k.a. "I... DROPPED THE SCREW... IN THE TUNA!!!"

Who loves orange soda? Kel loves orange soda!

  8. Got the two together for $21.40; discounts, promos, and etc. I'll probably get Book 3 for full price, but I'm not in a big rush since the family has seen all but three episodes of that season. Yeah, they actually like the show and they don't use Netflix. I had the two volumes back when Tokyopop originally printed them, but alas the apartment flood damaged them. Had some good memories associated with my copies, but you live (and learn!) It's an alright read as an immense fan of the show. I haven't been in a big rush to replace them, but the "collection" is pretty cheap compared to getting it separate again.
  9. As much as I like Luigi, and love Luigi's Mansion, I have always waited on a reduced price for 3DS games. $40, especially with BioShock Infinite later this month is a tad too much for handheld games.

ive noticed now on several nintendo game questionnaires the ask how much you think the game is worth which they never used to.

      FMW

I don't have trouble paying full price for first party 3DS games - Nintendo treats handheld games with the same care and quality as their console releases. But stuff like Assassin's Creed DS or Call of Duty? Yeah, don't buy that for full retail.

    4. TheMightyEthan

      TheMightyEthan

I have trouble paying full price for handheld games just because the overall handheld experience seems so much lesser compared to console/PC, regardless of the actual quality of the game.

  10. This is the third time I've forgotten about a new Walking Dead episode. Mid-season breaks tend to do this to me.

I often wonder what old people do, since every one of them that I run into claims they can't operate the guide.

"We call that a TV listing/guide" you mean :P There's more to ours than just a schedule though, the EPG won't give you interviews n stories n such.

      The internet will though.

  11. Honestly, the story is a bit short and half the game takes place in Denver, Colorado, but it has the Platinum Games charm where it mixes elements of the Metal Gear universe with a style similar to Vanquish and Bayonetta, but still makes itself entirely unique. Right now, I thought I would get all the collectibles and secrets while playing through my completed Normal playthrough, but other content doesn't unlock until you've played on higher difficulties. You really do want to start out on Normal to get the hang of the game because even going onto Hard steps up the difficulty quite a lot. I honestly doubt I'll S Rank on Revengeance difficulty since to "S Rank" means you take no damage in any ranked battle. I'll tell ya this, even when you can parry, some enemies attack with such intensity. Also, you do want to actively listen to codec conversations. They help explain some of the WTF moments of the game and they do tend to be entertaining. I've learned that Raiden's eye patch is actually an optical device, all the cyborgs are explained to be the standard frame where they'll look the same, and cyborg boobies are still not as realistic as real ones. EDIT: Oh, and if you're somehow a master your first run, I guess the game could be "5 hours." My experience, the bosses will trash you a couple times where you have to learn their pattern, and what approach you want to take since there are a few strategies to these guys. Freaking Monsoon gave me a lot of trouble.
  12. Ich Liebe Kapitalismus! (Play Rising, you'll get it...)
  13. I'd simply love to have Season 1 on DVD right about now. It's hard to get a new adoring fan to watch the entire series (so far) when the show runs once for the weekend at late night. There's iTunes and Amazon, but it's four episodes left for them.
  14. Hunstman has always been that kinda "kooky" Republican who doesn't seem to adhere to any perceived party memes. And just kinda kooky in general.
  15. You have to love the dialogue in Metal Gear Rising. I'm trying for the "Amateur Radio Operator" trophy, a.k.a "Listen to 400 codec conversations out of 650+"

  16. Finished the story for Metal Gear Rising. Platinum Games sure knows how to make action and epic boss battles. I really did not know what to expect, and the different sequences that make you feel like every slice and punch!

I'm really enjoying this game. Playing through on easy because I want to be able to see the story before I get too wrapped up in the mechanics. I like that there isn't much of a dodge mechanic. It's more, charge in, let fly, block, have at it some more.

  17. Just me or is the Oscars one giant boring circlejerk?

It's boring when you're not part of the circle.

  18. Yesterday I received my new phone, the HTC Droid DNA. At the same time, I caught some sort of stomach virus.

  19. Yeah, would have liked to see the actual console, though we got to see the final design of the controller.
  20. Man, it looks like they can continue the Infamous series (though the set up was... interesting.)
  21. I like what I'm hearing so far, but that first game was... eh?
  22. That "Move" component on the controller, I don't see how that can be used for anything else but pointer control. The Move has a round orb so that when you swing, it still detects the light from the controller at various angles. With this, you tilt it about 45 degrees left or right and it would be obstructed.
  23. I see Vanquish will be free for NA PS+ users this week. If you don't have that game, just get it.

    1. TCP

      TCP

Another fantastic PS+ game that I won't get around to playing for months/years. But if you're not "purchasing" all the free PS+ games every month, even if you know you'll probably never play it, you're doing it wrong.

    2. Faiblesse Des Sens

      Faiblesse Des Sens

Shit, I just bought it haha. Oh well. I need to upgrade my HDD at this point to fit all I want anyways.

  24. This "push-to-talk" stuff reminds me how I have a mic button for my headset, so I guess whatever a game features for voice chat doesn't bother me too much. Knowing Sony, they'll want people to keep playing the PS3 for a bit longer, even with a PS4 out. I imagine though that the console will be as closed as Sony would like the PS3 to be, if not more if some of the rumors are true.
  25. I was browsing Amazon, and while it seems Season 2 will be available on June 4th, the it will also be on Blu-ray along with the first season reformatted too. http://amzn.com/B00BDD0NBE I usually don't trade anything in, but I can't pass up actually getting something that's usually reserved for DVD when there's now Blu-ray.
