Switching phone companies from US Cellular to Republic Wireless, and our old phones weren't compatible, so I got a Pixel ($500 for the 128 GB model).

They've already voted to become a state on multiple occasions, now it's on Congress to authorize it.

I bought a Wii U at launch.

This is a completely different kind of embarrassment, but after I finished Sonic Mania I discovered that there was a move, called the drop dash, that lets you immediately execute a spin dash upon landing from a jump. I played the entire game and never knew you could do that.

Comparison video of the PS3 and PS4 versions of Shadow of the Colossus Obviously the graphics are way better from a technical perspective, but I think aesthetically it really loses something with the lack of fog that the original had. I hope they add it back in.

That would be consistent with the only label I saw with roman letters, which was "SUV", and it was on an... SUV.

I was pretty excited for this game but now all of a sudden I'm like "Not on Switch? Then who gives a fuck?" about everything.

Finished Human Resource Machine this morning. I really enjoyed the puzzles, but I feel like there weren't enough of them, so I'm having trouble deciding whether it was a good value. There were only 43 or so, and I wish there were more like 100. But then on the other hand I played it for 6.5 hours and it was only $10... Anyway, the game itself was great.

Comparison of Doom on PS4 vs. Switch, based on the Nintendo Direct trailer. I'm honestly super impressed with how well it compares. It's obviously a downgrade, but not as big a one as I would have expected. The biggest thing is the downgrade from 60 fps to 30, but I've played plenty of 30 fps shooters that felt great so if they do it right it shouldn't be a problem.

Finished Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle yesterday. Really excellent game, and I second Dan's recommendation for anyone who has a Switch. I especially like that hit chances are limited to 0%/50%/100%; it really enhances the planning and strategizing aspect of the game by enabling you to know for sure whether you'll hit or not most of the time, and when you take a 50% shot you know it's a crapshoot so it doesn't feel like you got screwed when you miss. I really hope they do a sequel, and judging by the reception I think that's probably likely.

Don't hold off on Kingdom Battle, it's fantastic and games for Nintendo consoles don't drop in price anyway. Plus Odyssey isn't out for more than a month, that's plenty of time for Kingdom Battle.

Bought Human Resource Machine for Switch. Also preordered Super Mario Odyssey and Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, though I give it about a 50/50 chance that I cancel LMSH2 before release.

@Mal Honestly, the Rabbid presence in the game is fairly low-key, not very in your face. Obviously they're everywhere, but other than the opening cutscene there's not much of their typical Rabbids shenanigans. I definitely recommend it for anyone who has a Switch.

They've already announced more story content coming in 2018.

By "bug" I'm sure they mean "we were testing it internally but didn't mean to turn it on for the public build".

I finished Sonic Mania yesterday. Fantastic game. The designers clearly had a masterful understanding of the original Sonic games on Genesis. My only complaint is I would have liked one single QoL enhancement: I wish that it would save at the beginning of each act, rather than the beginning of each zone. They could even have put in the options whether you want a modern save system or the classic one, so purists could play it the old way. That is the only thing I would change though. I have half a mind to play through again as Knuckles. Also, this is kind of embarrassing, but

Fortnite has turned on Xbone/PS4 crossplay. The interesting thing is they didn't announce it, it just happened. Given the previous issues between MS and Sony getting that turned on, there's speculation Epic just did it without permission. That could make sense, if they're banking on MS and Sony each not wanting the bad publicity of being the one to nix it, so just letting it continue. Other developers have said it's super easy from a technical perspective, it's just the company policies that have been preventing them.

There should have been an item in the Nintendo news feed on the Switch that linked to the Octopath demo. That's how I got to it.
