Things look so hopeful because everything had become so grimdark that they have to give us new hope in order to more effectively dash it.

That's kind of awesome. I wish I could listen to the various tones without downloading the app, just cause I want to hear what they sound like.

I always use my headphones because the alternative where my consoles are hooked up is to use my TV speakers and they SUUUUUUUUUCK. Also they had a delay of about 1/4 of a second that I didn't realize I could fix until recently, which was really really annoying.

I also have Alien Isolation sitting on my backlog. I've kind of been holding off until my wife goes to visit her family, because I feel like it's a game that would benefit from being played mostly at night, and when she's out of town is the only time I get extended night gaming opportunities.

I also beat Syndicate yesterday, weirdly enough. Quite liked it, so I bought the Maharaja and Jack the Ripper DLCs. @Gerbil: wrt sleuthing, there was the Dreadful Crimes DLC which was pretty good (although looking now it was a PS4 bonus exclusive until March 31 so it might have cost money on Xbone). I'd definitely recommend seeing if it's free on Xbone too, cause I thought they were quite good.

Finished Assassin's Creed Syndicate and decided to go ahead and get the Last Maharaja and Jack the Ripper DLCs.

Meh, there have been party deaths before, and they didn't change the system. Do maybe one or both of the current parties will die and be replaced, but ultimately we'll still have two major parties when the dust settles. Don't get me wrong, hitting reset on the current two parties would be a good thing I think, but I just don't see any systemic changes being made to do away with the inherent two-party nature.

The problem is with the way our elections work you can have more than 2 nationally viable parties for any extended period of time.

It seems like it would have created fewer problems if they'd just said he got more tech implanted between games...

I agree the parallels are depressing, but at least the GCN already had Wind Waker.

The Wii U has a bunch of games that are like "yeah, this is cool", but there hasn't been one single game for it that I was actually excited about. There are only two games that I would have felt like I was missing out on something by not playing them, SM3DW and Pikmin 3 (have not played W101 yet, it's on my list), and they're not really enough to justify the console. I wouldn't go so far as to say I regret it per se, but I definitely feel like Nintendo let me down.

Yes, but had I known that the only Wii U Zelda would also launch at/near the same time on the successor console I would have just waited for the successor and not got a Wii U at all. This is the first Nintendo console ever to not have its own Zelda. Super Mario 3D World was a lot of fun, but it plays more like a NSMB game than something from the lineage of SM64/Sunshine/Galaxy.

I will admit that I was only technically correct (the best kind of correct); I was sure it would be launching in November 2017.

Nintendo NX announced to launch March 2017. Suck it! *Edit - Also Zelda U confirmed for NX. I am so mad at Nintendo right now. All I wanted was a SM64/Sunshine/Galaxy follow-up and a new Zelda, and now I get neither.

Lots of German names got their pronunciation changed upon coming to the US though. I had assumed it was like "phage".

Yeah, I'm more excited by that trailer than I was by any of the others. I might even see this one in theaters.
