My only complaint so far is that the LEDs are absurdly bright. I have 3 layers of masking tape over them and they're still the brightest LEDs in the room. But that was a common complaint among the user reviews, so I expected it, I just didn't realize the extent.

Okay, the specific one I got does require power. So far it seems pretty great, lets me switch back and forth between my PS4 and Xbone just like I want, and at least going through menus there's no noticeable added latency or any audio/video offset, which are the two primary things I was worried about. After 2 minutes of use my first impressions are very good.

I think AAA is analogous to the term "Blockbuster" for films. Big, expensive, heavily marketed, "major" games. High production value more than specifically high budget.

Yeah, I've seen conflicting reports on whether it needs a power adapter or not. Most people say what FDS says, but at the same time I can't see how it can output optical audio without a power adapter.

It's a 4-port HDMI switch. I got it for my PS4 and Xbone, because the monitor I have them plugged into only has one digital input, as does my optical-to-headphones adapter, and it's a pain in the ass to switch the cables back and forth between the consoles every time I want to play the other one. The cool thing about this switch is that it strips the audio signal out of the HDMI and outputs it over the optical cable, so I can still use my headphone adapter.

I agree that fresh installs can be therapeutic.

Just finished Walking Dead: Season 2: Episode 3. My interest had waned slightly after Episode 2, but man after this I am super ready for Episode 4. Interestingly, my choices made a smooth graph from being the decided minority to being the decided majority: for the first choice only about 20% of players did the same as me, the second one was just under 40%, third was 50%, fourth was just over 60% and the last one was 80%.

Looking into it, it looks like it did really well its first year, and then the market dried up. That was back in 2010, so they had plenty of time to see the writing on the wall.

Well now it's rumored that this year's game isn't just Halo 2 Anniversary, but is actually the "Master Chief Collection": Halo 1-4 all packaged together and remastered in HD for Xbone. This is exactly what I wanted in my heart (except my dream bundle would have also included ODST and Reach), but never actually dared to hope for. There's no details, but the thing that would make the most sense to me is completely remastering the graphics of Halo 2 to bring them in line with Halo: Anniversary and Halo 4, and then just upresing Anniversary, 3 and 4 without actually redoing any assets. Halo 3 could do with some asset replacement too, cause its models and stuff always looked a little wonky to me, but given it was already a 360 game I'm skeptical they'd go to that much trouble.

Did it really sell well?

lol, I'd never heard of them until Gearbox sued them for trying to make a Duke game with their newly-purchased 3D Realms.

Halo 5 was never coming out this year. Last year at E3 they announced a Halo game for Xbone for this fall and for some reason everyone assumed it was Halo 5 (Halo has never been a 2 year cycle for the main entries), but it's actually Halo 2 Anniversary (not officially announced, but Master Chief's voice actor said that's what it is).

Other way around: Interceptor bought 3D Realms, and is publishing. 3D Realms is developing.

Sorry to double post, but I was thinking: I wonder if now that they're launching a Kinect-less version they'll fix some of the interface stupidnesses that exist because of it. For instance, you currently cannot have it automatically sign you in unless you have Kinect plugged in, because there's no true auto-sign-in, just Kinect recognition or manual sign-in. I mean PS4 doesn't automatically sign you in either, but it at least boots directly to the sign-in screen with the last-used user selected. On Xbone you have to manually navigate to that menu.

Yeah, it's been bothering me in various things since I was 6 and the Ninja Turtles did it. But like you said, this is supposed to be a big awesome sci-fi movie, not some silly kids' TV show.

I vaguely recall them recently making some vague references to continuing the series.
