  1. I'm actually not interested in either of those. I'm hoping Super Smash will be good this time, and for a real new 3D Mario (SM3DW was awesome, but it still played more like oldschool Mario than the 3D era ones) and a new Zelda.
  2. I've decided I don't really care. As long as Wii U is comparable to GameCube I'll be okay, cause there were some awesome GameCube games. All Nintendo-published, of course. I don't really care if Nintendo keeps making hardware in the long run, so as long as I get 3 or so more really good Nintendo games on my Wii U I'll be happy with it.
  3. Something that I loved in Killzone 2 was that you could do gross aiming with the stick and then fine aiming with the sixaxis. That was amazing because sticks really aren't good for precision aiming, but they work fine for big quick movements, while tilting the controller works great for small adjustments but not really large ones. They complement perfectly. I was so upset that they didn't have that feature in Killzone 3 (and now that I think about it I wish they'd had it in Shadow Fall, but the DS4's sticks are enough better that I didn't mind it nearly so much).
  4. Me too! I almost couldn't bring myself to go in there.
  5. Saw this on Facebook this morning. Hal, Spartan Ass:
  6. Please, please, come in, have a seat, kick off your shoes, and browse our various threads. Most of the site is dedicated to games, but there is also the Off-Topic section for other discussion. There's no rule about resurrecting threads, so feel free to respond to whatever tickles your fancy.
  7. Oh yeah, I just tested it and in Firefox when you right-click it brings up the lightbox for some reason. That's stupid, but it's a Firefox issue. Chrome, IE, and Opera all let you right-click on the image in the actual post without opening the lightbox.
  8. I agree, but that's still totally something I would do.
  9. I never played VLR, but 999 played like a visual novel with occasional puzzles. I might have been able to deal with it if it'd had actual animated cutscenes, but as is, bleh.
  10. I can't do visual novels for some reason.
  11. If there's one thing Doom has taught me it's to never open any doors or push any buttons. Ever.
  12. And a picture to show the female end:
  13. Yeah. Most Christmas lights in the US have a male end and a female end, so that you can plug multiple strings into one another to make one really long string. If you didn't plan ahead and had the wrong end at the outlet I could see wanting something like that pictured. *Edit* - I doubt it would work, because I imagine the plugs on the lights are directional and only let power go one way, but not everyone might know that. *Edit 2* - Yep, apparently that is why you would want one.
  14. My only thought would be that maybe when you strung up your Christmas lights you accidentally put the female end toward the outlet and don't want to take them down to redo them.
  15. Well whatever's in them, they're not a thing over here.
  16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_cracker I've seen those things before, but didn't even know what they were called, so when you said "Christmas crackers" I was imagining crackers as in the food. As far as mince pies, those are definitely not a thing here. Meat pies are generally pretty off-putting to Americans, with the exception of chicken pot pie, though I understand mince pies don't always have meat in them anymore.
  17. I liked 2 better too overall, just I thought that each one was a little better than the one before re: difficulty spikes.
  18. He's not even wearing clothes!
  19. Should have, would have. I found each game in that series to be less frustrating than the one before, with Uncharted 1 being easily the worst in that regard. I didn't play any of them on hard though, because even though it got better as the series went on I still felt like it had some pretty awful difficulty spikes in all three. I didn't like any of the supernatural enemies from any of the games.
  20. No, it's like how Final Fantasy 13-2 and FF14 are two different games.
  21. I got it to work this morning by just trying repeatedly until eventually it went through.
  22. People got sick of New York and LA, apparently. So this is apparently WWII 2?
  23. It's all about context. I totally agree that when comparing sales/market share Wii goes with Gen 7 and Wii U goes with Gen 8, because that's the time frame of those consoles. However, in the context of 3rd-party, multiplatform games the Wii U is still really a Gen 7 console due to its hardware limitations.
