Yeah, I'd be totally in favor of getting rid of the filibuster altogether, no matter which party has the majority.

I should also note that any software that can output in DTS or Dolby should be fine, it will just take control of the audio device and output the bitstream, whether or not the device would have any clue how encode it that way.

Since writing this I had occasion to plug my gaming PC into the TV again, and I can confirm that my GTX 470 does support audio output. It's only 2 channel though, and doesn't support DTS or Dolby.

Figured I'd make a catch-all thread for organizing PS4 multiplayer games, since there aren't just a whole ton right now. If any one game gets popular enough we can always make a separate thread for it. Have at it!

Digital Foundry analyzed the game before and after the patch, and found that there was no loss of performance. They say the change is subtle and hard to notice most of the time, but I disagree. If nothing else it's quite obvious in the rigging on the ships, and with how much time you spend looking at ships in this game that's a huge change.

Senate Democrats finally got sick enough of Republican obstruction of presidential nominees that they changed the senate rules so it now only takes 51 votes to end a nominee filibuster instead of 60. (A rule change always only required 51 votes.)

I think it looks like a toy, but a durable one. Like it's made of Nintendium. I think it's the DS4 that looks fragile (doesn't feel fragile though). As for the console itself I don't think it looks like a toy at all, I think it looks like a piece of late-90's AV equipment. And while from a purely aesthetic standpoint I like the Xbone controller better, it doesn't look as comfortable as a DS4.

I'll almost certainly pick one up eventually, but MS can't base their entire marketing strategy on the small number of people who buy multiple consoles.

I don't think MS is going to be so bad off that they won't be meaningful competition for Sony, I just think they're going to be hurting.

Yeah, hope they will have a Sony ps3 era type of situation...in that'll they'll wake the fuck up in a few years with a bunch of perks/exclusives.

Sony already had two generations of dominance and I don't think we're particularly hurting in the aftermath of that. What will be interesting is to see how well MS fare now they don't have a year long head start. They were fucked after launching the year after PS2.

I haven't tried watching anything from the PS4, but I know the Android app only lets you see the top 800 or so streams, so maybe the PS4 app is similarly limited.

Digital Foundry plugged a PS4 in to Xbone's HDMI input to see what happens.

A second controller that is far inferior to the DS4, sure. Though I guess it saves you buying another DS4.

The proprietary port on the Xbone is a new thing. The 360's worked with any 2.5mm mono headset.

Nope. Not atm, anyway. No upgradable HDD is because they want to be able to sell you a proprietary one for 4x the normal cost. I have no idea why there's no storage management, even the fucking original Xbox had that.

Turned on my PS4 this morning to check on something and there's a new update. Looks like it's just stability and minor usability fixes.

You can't even upload video to Twitter, only screenshots. They haven't explicitly confirmed that it will be getting Youtube support, but they said to keep an eye on the blog for news about them adding more services to the sharing, and Youtube seems like the obvious one. And yeah, Vimeo doesn't allow uploads of gameplay. A few indie devs had run into problems with that actually when trying to upload demos of their games they're developing, but IIRC Vimeo has made an exception for videos of games you've made.
