  1. Apparently you can get around the issue of not installing the GTAV play disc by installing it to a flash drive. Fixes some texture pop-in problems too.

I did the trick...but I didn't try it before...so. Hope it actually works, because I just followed a bunch of sheep if not XD

It definitely helped me. Since I did it the only time I've seen pop-in is when I've gotten on a motorcycle and driven halfway across town at full speed.

a lot of it will also depend on your USB stick, obvs.

  2. How far along is that spoiler?
  3. With a 2015 release date I don't see PS360 versions being all that attractive to people.
  4. I never buy anything in the sales, the free games are pretty much all I care about.
  5. It might just be the things I'm specifically interested in, but it seems to me that EU PS+ consistently gets better games than NA PS+. Occasionally NA will get something good that EU hasn't gotten, but more often it's the other way around.
  6. EU PS+ kicks the crap out of NA PS+. Just as a general rule.
  7. But it has to be always online because the auction house is integral to the core design of the game and there's no way anyone could get anything approaching the full experience without it.
  8. Of course it wasn't designed for a 16:9 TV. Letterboxes don't bother me. The point was that if it was clear enough to show in a movie theater then it was (at least originally) clear enough to warrant an HD transfer. Also, I did mention the possibility of the source film having been damaged in the intervening years. *Edit* - Also, while it's not a grid of pixels obviously, there's still a minimum size unit that a given film standard can clearly display, which is roughly analogous to pixels when we're talking about whether it's justified to convert it to such and such a resolution.
  9. Anything filmed with the intent to be displayed in a movie theater was "made for HD". Movie projection film is much higher res than 1080p, and anything filmed for that will benefit from an HD release (unless the source film has gotten damaged in the intervening years). I agree it's not *necessary*, but I just like having a clear picture. Fuzziness bothers me no matter what it is I'm looking at. Course I'm also the one who went to the eye doctor because I noticed my vision was getting worse, and it turns out that (with my glasses) it had decayed all the way to 20/20.
  10. I will only buy something on DVD if it's unavailable on bluray, no matter the price.
  11. No evidence he can control the spirits, just calm them.
  12. Yeah, I just assumed it was a waterbending technique related to healing. He's not actually spirit bending like the Avatar, just calming the spirits.
  13. One positive comment I forgot to make: "Everstorm" is fucking metal as hell.
  14. Yeah, pretty much as soon as he was introduced I said to my wife "I'd say he's gonna be the bad guy, but that would be too obvious" *Edit* - Though I am hopeful that he'll be a greyer villain than what we've had.
  15. Just watched the first two episodes. I don't like the twins as characters, I wish they had done them differently. Otherwise my thoughts are: Hopefully the season picks up, because this was not a great start.
  16. The point is the person consuming the media need not experience resistance in finishing the media for the media to be worthwhile. Just because something is interactive doesn't mean it has to have a competitive aspect to be worthwhile. It has to have a competitive aspect to be a game, but I can't believe you would seriously say that nothing interactive is worthwhile unless it's a game.
  17. I had this conversation with a buddy of mine the other day when I posited that there must be some level of challenge (or competition) and goal to a game for it to actually be qualified as such. Maybe it's because I grew up in the NES era long before the games as art or the big casual game boom. I don't buy into "games have to be challenging to be games" argument. You can have an easy game still be a game. There just has to be some aspect of competition, even if it's not difficult competition. My notion was that without some kind of resistance (even token at best), there really isn't much point to playing anything. Even Solitaire has the timer and the possibly of putting yourself in a corner. I would agree that without token resistance it's not a game, but that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. Taken to extremes, there's absolutely no resistance to finishing a movie (unless the movie's bad), but that doesn't mean that no movie is worth watching.
  18. I'm sure they will. *Edit* - In fact, they already have. That surprises me, I figured they'd at least wait 24 hours.
  19. I haven't been able to find it... *Edit* - Never mind, it just wasn't at the normal places I look. *Edit 2* - The ones I can find are only low quality though. I'll hold out for an HD copy.
  20. I want to, but I feel like I've waited this long so I should keep waiting until the price drops more.
  21. I still haven't been able to watch it.
  22. It's not a complete description, but it's an accurate one. Whereas calling something a "game" when it doesn't have any elements of being a "game" is inaccurate, not just incomplete.
  23. Movie is still an accurate description though: they're moving pictures.
