  1. The tilt-shift effect is quite convincing as well, to really make it look like filming miniatures.
  2. I'm debating between spending this weekend to try to finish DA2 or renting The Last of Us.

Might as well finish what you started. And you'll be more likely to find a copy of the last of us the longer you wait.

Yeah, I'm just getting sucked in by all these people talking about TLoU.

It'll die out soon. I beat Bioshock Infinite slower than most people. Just stay out of the threads.

  3. You register Game X to your account, put it in your game share. People who are registered as your XBL family members can play any game in your share, including Game X. You can play Game X whenever you want, even if someone is already using the share. Any one family member can play Game X at any given time, whether you are playing or not. Multiple family members cannot play Game X at the same time, whether you are playing or not. The only thing that I'm unclear about is whether one family member can play Game X at the same time another is playing Game Y, or if it's only one family member at a time using any part of your game share.
  4. They want to make a Lego movie because that's what they want to do. And they use CGI because it's easier than actually using Legos. It seems pretty straightforward to me. Why does anything ever use any aesthetic? Because that's what the makers want to use. And I haven't watch South Park in years, so maybe you're right that it doesn't look like construction paper anymore.
  5. Yeah, that was my point with the South Park thing: you could just as easily ask "if you're using computers anyway why make it look like construction paper?" That question would actually be more reasonable because it's not like South Park is specifically made to be based on some construction paper brand.
  6. lol, no, that's why I wrote "hurb" instead of "herb".
  7. We need to start a Comment of the Month award, so this can win.
  8. Qatar itself may not fit that description, but in recent years there's been a push to be more inclusive of Africa and South America (and to a lesser extent the Middle East) in world events like the World Cup and the Olympics, and not just keep them in Europe, North America, and Asia. Viewed in that light both Qatar and Brazil make more sense as hosts.
  9. Oh yeah, the video is irritating as hell.
  10. I thought XMB looked nice, but was somewhat inconvenient to navigate. This looks more usable.
  11. @Vecha: Major Nelson is his gamertag, his real name is Larry Hryb (pronounced "hurb"). Nelson is not a real part of his name.
  12. What's the point of South Park being made to look like it's construction paper when it's actually CGI?
  13. Do you live outside the US? Saturday delivery is standard here.
  14. Man, after an experience like that I'd be using FedEx whenever possible.
  15. After reviewing the games announced thus far, I think I can get by without a new gfx card this year.

to be fair, you're unlikely going to need anything more than a 660ti or a 680 unless you want to see more PhysX stuff and realistic hair. Best way to see is how many games are coming out that don't have bald protagonists.

Well I like to run my games with AA and stuff, so they look better than the console versions, so I'd need something better. Also I don't want to do a half-step upgrade and then end up needing to do it again in 2-3 years.

  16. This is why we need replicators, then you could just download it from tpb if no one wanted to sell it to you.

I think it looks like a coozie.
  18. Yeah, I got the camel's back thing, it was the chickens that confused me. I've heard the phrase before, but infrequently enough that your shortened version didn't trigger the right thing for me, I guess.
  19. Yeah, like I said originally we were planning to get her the treatment on Monday if she lived through the weekend, but by Monday she'd gotten so much worse that we knew she wasn't going to make it. We didn't want to get the treatment over the weekend because we would have had to leave her at the vet all weekend and he said there was a decent chance she wouldn't make it through the weekend even if we did leave her there, and we didn't want her to die alone at the vet's.
  20. I have no idea what this means.
  21. I've been playing Dragon Age 2 (on PC) and enjoying it so far. I'm still in Act I, haven't gotten far enough for the levels to get too horribly repetitive, though I can see the seeds of its beginning. Other than that aspect though and the lack of control over party members' armor it feels quite a lot like Origins in terms of play, which is a good thing IMO.
  22. We buried her under the bush she liked to climb in. It was like a bad movie, it started raining the very instant the vet injected her with the drug.
  23. I think multiplayer-heavy games, like CoD, should sell their SP campaigns as a standalone for like $20. I'm sure they'd gain more than enough sales to make up for the few $60 purchases they'd lose.

I think the Uncharted model makes sense. Launch the whole thing at first, then as time goes on you split out the two products MP and SP and sell them separately. Or, sell SP and have free to play MP with limited maps and map DLC.

I think it makes more sense (for a game like CoD) to sell the SP standalone than the MP. Most people who play it only care about the MP, so if that's available standalone they'll buy just that, but if it's not they'll buy the $60 package. Most people who care about the SP only though aren't going to pay $60 for it, so if you sell the SP alone for $20 you're not going to lose many $60 sales but will gain a bunch of SP-only sales.

The reason I use CoD as an example is because those games NEVER drop in price.

  24. My takeaway from this discussion: worth a rental, but not paying to go see it at the theater.
