  1. Obama says that Snowden should be turned back over to the United States, and that we need to make sure "the rule of law is observed." Mr. Obama, I wouldn't think that I would have to remind you, a formal constitutional law professor, about this, but here goes: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." First the NDAA, now Prism, and no doubt other things I'm forgetting/never knew about to begin with, you do not get to invoke the Rule of Law in support of yourself.
  2. THAT I would be all in favor of. *Edit* - Someone should develop a little dongle that plugs into the Kinect port and just sends a fake signal of an empty, silent room, so the Xbone thinks Kinect is plugged in but it's just not picking up anything.
  3. Well at this point it doesn't have any DRM that the current gen consoles don't have, does it? At least as far as we know.
  4. Yeah, from googling you're not the only person who misheard it that way.

    Powerpuff Girls was awesome.

I didn't think the IRS pays interest on refunds. I intentionally have too much taken out of my check because I would rather not get a bill at the end of the year that I was not prepared to pay, so I always get refunds, but I've never been aware of any interest on that.
  7. That's not what Trinity says, she says Also, spoiler tags about a 14 year old movie?

@GOH: Even if they can't audit you after 3 years they should still be able to accept the money if you voluntarily offer it, shouldn't they?
  9. We have one. I've read though that it can stress cats out if you use it too much, because they can never actually catch the thing.
  10. We saw this wrestle toy at Walmart that had a cloth covering and a crinkly material inside. We thought he'd like it, but it was too expensive for what it was, so we wadded up grocery bags and put them in a sock instead. I didn't think to get the camera until he was already pretty worn out.

The idea that that is an attempt to make kids transgender, or that that is even a possible result, is patently ridiculous.

Yeah, that's weird, afaik there's no limitation on how long after the fact they can take the money, especially if you voluntarily offer it.
  13. I think we may have agreed to change his name to Zorro. My wife likes it because she thinks he looks like a fox, and zorro is Spanish for "fox", and I like it because it's Zorro.
  14. I voted for VII because it's the only one I've played for any length of time at all.
  15. We got him a rawhide stick because he's been chewing on cords and we wanted to redirect, but he seemed to have more fun spinning it on the kitchen floor. Also, my wife didn't like "Golly", so now I'm taking the tactic of just calling him Goliath to see if it'll stick.
  16. That's an amazing deal. Too bad I already have all the games I'm interested in from there.

The world would be so much better if more people would live this way.
  18. For what it's worth, last weekend (before the reversal) my CoD-playing dudebro cousin, who only owns a 360, was telling me how retarded it would be to get an Xbone, and why you should definitely get a PS4 instead. I'm guessing that's the demographic that made them change their tune.

The problem with the situation isn't necessarily what started it, it's the way he became a complete asshole about it. Yes, some of the responses were out of line (death threats are never an appropriate response), but it's not the appropriate response when people overreact to your comments to then get even more bigoted in them. If you accidentally and unknowingly said something offensive about another race, and people started telling you to go die, the solution is not to become more racist. Not to say context is irrelevant, and if what he says is true it does make him seem less bad in the whole situation. It also makes the Fullbright Company thing even more of an overreaction.
  20. This is fucking 2013. Why, when I download a piece of software, does it not automatically give me the most up-to-date version? Making me download a gig of patches minutes after I downloaded the base software is ridiculous.

It's happened to me on XBLA too, and various websites with programs I wanted (though that now seems less common). Steam seems to have it under control though.

Steam has it under control to a degree, still has the first time setup. For the most part though Steam is just plonking the files directly onto your PC, as opposed to "installing".

Which I feel like makes perfect sense for a console as well.

  21. I don't think that's included. They said at E3 that no headset was included because Kinect has a mic.
  22. Supposedly the one-time connection requirement when setting up the console is due to the requirement that you get a day-one update that they've been planning to have all along. I believe this one because it actually does make sense: you know your software isn't going to be finalized early enough to preload it onto all consoles as they're manufactured, so you just put in placeholder software that tries to connect to get the final version. If that's the case though it seems like if they really wanted to they release a disc with the update on it for people without broadband.
