  1. Hong Kong is a lot different from China proper. But also, while it is somewhat amusing to hide in China against punishment for leaking info about US domestic spying, he's got a point that China's probably about the only country willing to stand up to America and not just straight up return him.
  2. If you're talking to me, it was 90% a joke.
  3. 15 inch screen is about ideal for me.
  4. That might be going a little far. If you want to try to keep the fact that it was you a secret, or physically hide to avoid capture or whatever that's fine, I'm not saying you have to walk into the nearest FBI field office and turn yourself in. Just, in the event that you actually are caught, don't act like it's so unfair to you.
  5. This guy accepts the consequences of what he did, and says to him it's worth it, whereas Manning tried and continued to try to avoid any consequences, decrying the injustice of being put on trial for disclosing classified information. I mean, yes, he went to Hong Kong to try to avoid being tried and put in prison, but he gave up his whole life to do it. What bothered me about Manning was not that he tried to avoid getting caught in the first place, it's that once he was he tried to argue that he shouldn't be prosecuted, and he's the victim in all this. Based on Snowden's actions and statements so far it seems like in the event he were captured and returned to US custody he would just accept it as the consequences of his actions.
  6. Yeah, and they're made up of mostly people who did Crimson Skies, which I really liked. Still gonna be keeping an eye on this.
  7. Is there not much of a tutorial for Towns?
  8. The rapists were juveniles, while the hacker is an adult, which has a huge effect on sentences. Also, if you're going to use the max he could possibly get then you need to compare it to the max they could possibly have gotten, which in Ohio appears to be 11 years for any first degree felony (based on really cursory research, so I could be wrong). Finally, he's being charged under federal hacking laws, they rapists were charged under Ohio state laws, two entirely different governments prosecuting them, so comparing them is really meaningless. What we should be up in arms about is how apparently lax Ohio's rape laws are. Jesus Christ, 11 years max? In Kansas the minimum presumptive sentence for a severity level 1 felony (which includes rape) is 12.25 years, and it goes all the way up to 54 years.
  9. Yeah, it's a whole alternate world. Landmasses and everything are way different, it seems that physics is different, etc. Culturally it's very much based on Victorian London, but in terms of tech it's kind of all over the place.
  10. It would be slightly awkward, but I think more funny.
  11. Bought the Android version last week, lost interest very quickly. Oh well, I got it with the Play Store credit I got from buying a Nexus 7, so I'm not too torn up about it. This is the Steam daily deal, and it's something I can play out on my laptop in the living room.
  12. Okay, I hadn't really been following Destiny, but now I'm fuckin stoked. Also, it bugged the shit out of me how he kept saying "showen" for "shown".
  13. His voiceover is really negative, but he doesn't elaborate on anything so it's really hard to tell if there's any basis to it. *Edit* - Though the fact that it's from the developers of Dark Void and Quantum Conundrum is less than reassuring...
  14. The impression I got wasn't that they were accepting Xavier's team as collateral damage, but that they were intentionally wanting to wipe out his team as well, because they're the freaks. Anyway, I just find the whole thing with the Russian and American fleets suddenly being like "yes, let us work together" based on almost no information to be hard to swallow. It just doesn't feel natural.
  15. I think by "work environment" he means the attitude of the other (male) employees. Not anything you'd necessarily see in clips of the office.
  16. Did they know what Shaw's power was? Also, I thought Moira was in communication with the American fleet the whole time (she was certainly in communication with someone). That they knew she was there, and that at least some of the mutants were on their side, they were just accepting her as collateral damage and fuck the mutants cause they're weird.
  17. I also thought the training montages at the mansion, especially with Beast, were really cheesy.
  18. I'm sorry, I'm confusing the overall timespan of the move with the period of time they spent training at the mansion. (I mean, obviously I knew the scenes with them as kids weren't within 2 weeks of the end, but the rest of it). Regardless, I still feel like they tried to cram too much into the movie, and it doesn't work very well imo. *Edit* - And to elaborate on what I mean about the final act, I felt like the conflict with the two fleets was really poorly handled. How they're just like "oh, thanks for not nuking us, now let's team up, to waste these people who are actually working for us, because that totally makes sense!"
  19. And I think it would have done so without needing Magneto to turn. Why did everything of importance in their lives have to happen in this 2 week period? It just seems contrived.
  20. Also, "men aren't women" is not an excuse to be completely oblivious, insensitive fuckwits. "How can I be expected to consider the point of view of anyone other than myself? That's MADNESS!" *Edit* - ALSO, putting aside the other reasons why Cosmo is a bad comparison (the whole magazine industry isn't dominated by that viewpoint, for one), prejudice is simply worse when it comes from a position of privilege. Negative stereotyping of men is not nearly as harmful because men are dominant in our culture, in terms of business and politics and whatnot, so they don't suffer as a result, it's just a joke. Negative stereotyping of women, on the other hand, serves to perpetuate that male dominance. It's the same is true of any demographic you can come up with where one segment is privileged and the other is disadvantaged; race, sexual orientation, whatever.
  21. It's not that that would have been cooler, it's that the way they did it felt so rushed. "We have to get in ALL THE BACKSTORY!!!!11" I feel like the story would have worked better if Magneto didn't turn against them until the second movie.
  22. "If women want to change how they're portrayed in videogames then they need to step up and start making videogames." Wow... I just don't even know how to respond to that... *Edit* - Oh, it's Maddox. That explains it. I didn't even know he was still around.
  23. Thank you, now I'm okay with them becoming such deep and lasting friends so fast. I still would have liked it better if they had been allies longer before becoming ideological enemies though. And I still feel like the wrapped all the backstory up in too neat a bow.
  24. It felt to me like a really hamfisted way of showing the audience what everyone's powers were, and not natural in the slightest. Oh well, opinions.
  25. Yes, this is why I'm torn about Anonymous: I agree with a lot of the stuff they do (or at least the side they're on, if not necessarily their methods), but then sometimes they do shit and I'm like "fuckin seriously guys?" Though I know that's an inevitable result of them being just a loose association of people who choose to self-identify as part of Anonymous, rather than any kind of organized entity with a central command structure.
