I make no secret of the fact that I am going to get an Xbone the very moment Halo 5 comes out (hopefully some kind of bundle). The only question is whether enough stuff will come out on the PS4 prior to that that I get it first. But Playstation has no single killer app for me the way Xbox has with Halo. Halo and Zelda are the only franchises that, standing alone, will sell a system for me.

That was always an obvious bullshit excuse anyway. There's no reason why they can't support different devices with different capabilities. That'd be like claiming a website's regular version had to come down because they wanted to support mobile devices.

The fact that you only have to check in once every 24 hours should help with that somewhat, since you won't be required to maintain your connection. Although you do presumably have to connect right away the first time, and every time you want to register a game for your account, which I imagine could make for some very frustrated kids Christmas morning.

That only applies if you bought the game used though, if you bought the game new the online pass was typically included in the package. I would imagine most people who cared enough about multiplayer to buy 4-5 online passes a year were probably buying their games new for the most part.

Tomb Raider (2013), 3.6m, failed to meet sales expectations. Obviously that's Square and not Sony, but just because a game sells millions of units doesn't mean it's making money. *Edit* - I'm shocked that those numbers are so low though, I was under the impression everyone liked those games (except for me and Killzone; 2 was alright but I couldn't even finish 3).

My slim PS3 turns off more fully than they're acting like the PS4 does. But you're right it's not all the way off, it has the ability to turn itself on in the middle of the night to auto-download, for instance.

I don't think $300 for the deluxe is unreasonable. $200 for the basic. *Edit* - As of right now, that is. They would then need to drop to $250 for the deluxe this holiday.

Suspend is actually a negative in my mind*. I don't want my shit sitting there using power even when I'm not using it, shining its little lights at me. I want my shit to fucking turn OFF. *Assuming there's no off option short of unplugging it, we've received conflicting info on that front.

The only game that makes me want a console at all is Destiny, and that's not coming out until sometime in 2014. I'm somewhat interested in Second Son and the next Quantic Dream game (and even that won't be out for a couple years), but everything else I'm interested in is coming out on PC.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, Sony won the conference hands down. I'm just saying, the free games from Live would negate one of PSN's primary advantages.

Well if MS continues the free games thing into the Xbone the value advantage of PSN will diminish significantly. At least Sony confirmed that you don't need PS+ to use media apps like Netflix.
