  1. Star Trek Into Darkness. Really good. I thought that line that Wally was talking about on the previous page really detracted from that scene though. Made me lol, but not in a good way.
  2. Since I've started building my own PCs I've had IIRC 3 Nvidia cards and 2 ATI cards. *Edit* - TressFX runs like shit on Nvidia cards, it only really runs right on ATI cards.
  3. Yeah, I would actually of those two setups recommend the single-GPU one. I just picked those two because they were the only two combos I saw within your price range that wouldn't require immediately (as in, right now) upgrading the graphics card to something better. Both Intel and AMD make mobos that support SLI (Nvidia's dual-card solution) and both make mobos that support Crossfire (AMD's dual-card solution). If you're planning to do dual cards at any time then you need to look to make sure the board supports it. But it's perfectly fine to mix and match mobo and graphics card brands. In my experience I've had a lot fewer issues with Nvidia cards.
  4. Here are a couple that look better to me: This one's mostly the same as the one you picked but has a 660 Ti rather than the 650 Ti, and the 660 is significantly more powerful. This one is just a teensy bit above your price range, but has dual 660 Ti's. Otherwise it's the same as the first one and the one you picked (with a bigger PSU to handle the graphics cards).
  5. The first thing that jumps out at me about that combo deal you linked is that the graphics card is pretty weak, and since I'm assuming you want it for gaming you'd want something more powerful. I'm looking through the deals and will post if I find something that looks better to me. Do you already have a keyboard too, or just the mouse? *Edit* - Also, do you need an OS or do you already have one you can install?
  6. I kind of really want an Oculus Rift, but I'm waiting on two things: 1) to see what the resolution in the consumer version is and 2) to see how much support it ultimately garners.

      2)About as much as AmbX.

You ever own a Virtual Boy before?

@Dean: That's just asinine. It already has more support than AmbX. :P

@Strangelove: As if the technology is no better than the 20 year old Virtual Boy. :P

Everything I've read about it has been really positive, except for the occasional motion sickness (which means I would definitely want to find a way to try it out before buying one).

  7. I read it as meaning that VM has a deal with TiVo so they won't use the Xbone, cause your question was my first thought too.
  8. It seems to me like if you knew your business model was on the verge of collapsing and being replaced with a newer model you would invest resources into dominating that newer model so you could remain on top. Trying to scare others into not developing the replacement technology seems like trying to order back the tide. *Edit* - "Now"?
  9. That's not how it's set up in the US. In the US you pay a monthly fee for the box. Also none of the content providers want to piss off the telecoms by letting their content through another service. It's why even Hulu Plus has a one day delay between TV air date and streaming date. *Edit* - New rumor about used game sales: You can still sell them, but only through retailers that have partnered with MS. When you sell the disc to them they connect into MS's cloud system and remove the license to play it from your account. Then when somebody else comes into the store and buys it they can activate it on their account just like a new game, but the retailer pays MS and/or the publisher a fee to let this happen. From the consumer standpoint very little has changed with regard to a Gamestop transaction, although the cut going to MS or the publisher will no doubt drive up the prices of Xbone's used games. Looks like person-to-person used game sales are gone though.
  10. The officially confirmed box art: Looks like a brighter green than the BF4 shot.
  11. Yeah, it says "IR OUT" and is the port that the IR blaster will connect to to allow it to control your cable box. *Edit* - Though, assuming they could get a deal worked out in the future, there'd be nothing stopping them from selling a USB dongle that allowed it to hook straight into the coax. Why do you say that? Legitimately curious. I think that because it's what happened the past two generations. I think there are a number of contributing factors. For example, as development costs decrease for the new generation's hardware, developers can put more time into porting; median PC graphics capability in the PC gaming marketplace increases to the point where the market is justified to port from the more powerful new generation consoles (8GB RAM is a lot for most folks still); and there are fewer exclusivity deals with the console makers, or initial exclusivity deals expire. Oh, okay, I guess I just read it a little too literally. Yeah, I don't think they'll stop altogether, but you're right that they'll probably be fewer and farther between. Although that said, I think the PC market is a lot bigger deal in the overall games market than it has been since the very start of the whole console cycle model. Probably as a result of this generation lasting so long, but whatever the reason I think it's less likely to die off as much as it has in the past.
  12. It's sad that I probably won't even live to see my 1st birthday on Uranus, Neptune or Pluto.
  13. You're talking about me, aren't you?
  14. Meh, the game was great, I don't really care if there was extra, pointless stuff. Doesn't detract from it.
  15. This likely factored into their decision to make Forza a launch title, because racing games are similarly easy to make absolutely breathtaking.
  16. Nuts and Bolts was awesome, it was just weird that it had the Banjo Kazooie license.
  17. Why do you say that? Legitimately curious. Based on my experience with the current Xbox and Kinect, having it connected while watching media does make the experience worse. It frequently interprets gestures as inputs and fucks with your viewing experience when you were just talking with your hands to another viewer. That's ignoring the creepiness of having a microphone always listening.
  18. Yeah, I really don't get MS's "we're trying to future proof this console by centering the design around live TV. People still watch live TV, right?" Even my parents don't watch live TV except for sports, and even then they're typically at least half an hour behind the actual live broadcast.
  19. Not to say this isn't horrible or anything, because it is, but I'm confused about why it's some huge thing. Surely people are murdered by crazy people in the UK on occasion, right? Is there more to the story that isn't in that BBC article?
  20. it was that MS paid EA to go on stage and say they have a special partnership.
  21. Ah, apparently it is supposed to be the same timeline, but there are a bunch of continuity errors (though I don't agree the Mystique skin thing is a problem). The first two in that list are the two I noticed, and I guess they seemed major enough that I assumed it was a different timeline.
  22. I had thought First Class was a reboot, but the new Wolverine confuses me.
  23. Okay, I'm confused, is the X1-X3 + Origins: Wolverine + The Wolverine in the same timeline as First Class and Days of Future Past, or are they just running two separate film series at the same time?
  24. Microsoft talks to Joystiq about the question of used games and always online. My favorite part: Honestly, at this point I think MS is doing more harm than good by even talking about it at all. If they just stayed silent we'd assume the worst but we wouldn't be sure, but with them talking about it but refusing to deny it it comes across as basically confirming it.
