  1. Oh come one, it's not cheesy? What the hell was that "let's show off all our powers in this government hideout" scene then? Shit makes me cringe. And again, the whole final act is just silly. Like, not that it's ridiculous compared to the real world, but that it's presented in a silly fashion which clashes with most of the rest of the movie.
  2. Yeah, I've got one who side of the family who's all "we know guys in the government, and they're doing [X completely insane thing]." Kinda poisoned me to that claim. "There was a full-scale Muslim terrorist invasion of New Orleans under the cover of Katrina! They had marines defending oil refineries against waves and waves of them!" Riiiiiiiight...
  3. I think that's due to its coming at the end of the sentence, not the word itself. *Edit* - I live right in the middle of the red "I have no term for this" category on the sunshower one, but I've definitely heard that term used before, and that's what I call it when it happens.
  4. Oculus Rift support is being integrated into Unreal Engine 4. That should go a long way toward getting this thing more support.
  5. Here's me saying the following sentence: "I'm going to marry my true love Mary, and the thought makes me quite merry." As you can see there's no difference in pronunciation.
  6. I agree wholeheartedly with that, which is why part of the point of the discussion is to change the minds of consumers so that it will start to have an impact on the bottom line and the companies will change their practices. Though I also completely understand that going about it in the wrong way can actually alienate people from your cause and do more harm than good.
  7. "There's a market for it" is just an explanation though, not a defense. The idea though is that if we discuss it enough maybe enough people will come around to the point of view that maybe women shouldn't be treated as nothing more than eye candy that the developers will realize they're alienating more customers than they're gaining. To be extra super trite: Be the change you want to see in the world.
  8. The way you say "merry" is the way I would say all three.
  9. This is really the only thing about the Xbone that bothers me much now that they've clarified some stuff. The other restrictions just don't impact my usage patterns much at all, and are basically no different than the PC restrictions I already put up with (other than the 24 hours thing, but even with that I can't remember the last time I was without internet for more than 24 hours, except when I moved into my new house). Though I, for one, have 0 faith that MS would unlock everything before a server shutdown. *Edit* - Damnit, I keep forgetting that Kinect is required. That's a really huge negative for me. *Edit 2* - Although this is somewhat promising:
  10. I realize that people around New York refer to it as just "The City", but only because of shows like Seinfeld and How I Met Your Mother. Otherwise "the city" just refers to whatever major city I happen to be in/just outside of. *Edit* - Also, I don't understand what the difference between "cray-ahn" and "cray-awn" is, other than spelling. And if anyone here is in the category that knows the difference in pronunciation between Mary, marry, and merry could you please explain what it is?
  11. This. Having an overly sexualized character from time to time is not a problem, but when it's the majority of them it contributes to this overall societal attitude that the only thing women are good for is decoration. That attitude is a problem.
  12. I honestly don't understand why First Class is supposed to be so good. The best I can say about it was that it was fine. It was better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine. If I treat it in my head as a reboot rather than a prequel that fixes some of my problems with it (mostly the continuity errors), but still the whole final act is just silly. That's where it lost me when I watched it again recently. And the fact that the whole thing takes place over two weeks. 6 months would have been much more natural-feeling.
  13. It means that all games that are registered to your account, even your purchased-in-store, on-disc games, can be downloaded by you to be played on any Xbone. That is how it currently works with downloadable stuff on 360, the difference here being that it's all Xbone content.
  14. Well on Xbone they don't need the online pass because MS built it into the console, but if you take the statement at face value the passes won't be on PS4 either. *Edit* - And I think the fact that they retroactively removed the passes from existing games is a good reason to take it at face value.
  15. It is something that should be fixed... by them choosing not to do it anymore... because it's bad to degrade an entire segment of society...
  16. "You can't call my opinion stupid! Or say I shouldn't express it! That's censorship! Free speech!"
  17. Is there any information you're at liberty to tell us about how EA is betting on Xbone? I know at the conference they said they have a special partnership, but then they just showed a bunch of games that will be on PS4 too.
  18. Yes, but the implication of Krieger's comment is "if you don't like it don't buy it, but in any event shut up about it." No one's saying they don't have the right to make sexist games if they choose, just that they should choose not to.
  19. Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Really really enjoyed it, except for the boss fights. I know, I'm a rebel.
  20. Yeah, there are rumors to that effect.
  21. It's a highly anticipated game by Naughty Dog. In this instance even more than others I'd say numerical scores probably have little to nothing to do with the actual quality of the game.
  22. I liked Invisible War, but then I never played the first one. I tried once when I got it on a Steam sale, but I didn't feel the interface/gameplay aged well at all.
  23. That's even ignoring the fact that Eidos Montreal isn't the original developer of the series anyway, so there's no reason why a different dev couldn't take on a sequel.
  24. Oh, I figured he was quoting comments from somewhere, and that one just stood out to me for some reason.
