  1. That may be the best Halloween costume I've ever seen.
  2. Yeah, but that's a PITA, and the point is that I shouldn't have to. And it's not so much the environmental issue for me as the fact that something like 10% of 1st-world residential power use is from devices in "standby", and that means that 10% of my electric bill is shit using power when it shouldn't be.
  3. From Mal in the status post: http://www.vg247.com/2012/11/01/ps4_details_playstation_4/ For fuck's sake why can't we just turn shit off anymore?
  4. Yeah, I don't know why they dropped Firefight, that was my favorite mode after campaign coop. I'm really looking forward to Spartan ops though. I'm definitely a singleplayer/coop player, so more content for that style is greatly appreciated.
  5. Five hours in and the damn game finally seems to have opened up (beginning of Sequence 3). It's good, because I was beginning to lose patience with it.
  6. If they didn't want to have him change armor then they shouldn't have redesigned the armor. As for the second comment, I've heard from a couple sources that it feels a little harder on Heroic than past games have. @Dean: I hadn't thought about the fact that they could intentionally have her being showing her age, given that her descent into rampancy is a major element of this game.
  7. I don't like the changes they made to chief, because supposedly that's the same model of armor as he was wearing in 2 and 3 (in-universe model, not in-game model), but it looks completely different (shoulders and helmet being most obvious, aside from color). Between 1 and 2 they established that he had gotten an upgrade, I don't know why they couldn't have done the same thing here. Also, higher-res version: and for fun, here's Cortana: Being a hologram she can of course change her appearance at will, but man did her boobs get saggy. I still think the Halo 1 design is my favorite, but this one doesn't bother me as much as the chief.
  8. The original article was being sensationalist and saying that the console market is dying. What Dean was saying is that the consoles will keep going along, but they'll never be anywhere close to as big as they were this gen in terms of number of users.
  9. He's explaining what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints (Mormon Church) believes.
  10. I was quite surprised to see Waluigi, of all people.
  11. Pshah, I get, like, over 9,000 pbps, so...
  12. I'm not saying they shouldn't introduce changes, what I'm saying is they shouldn't force those changes on users who do not have the interface to use them properly. They could have kept the old-style start menu for people who want it, and also used Metro for those who have a device that it is suited for. Hell, even default to Metro and make me go into a menu to change it, but don't force an interface designed for touchscreens onto non touchscreen devices. That's what I meant when I said the desktop use was compromised.
  13. They have equipment like in Reach, so maybe it's a new one. It looks like reviews are going up already and they are quite positive.
  14. Everyone has granted numerous times that the Metro interface probably works very very nicely on touchscreen devices, what people are saying is that it's stupid to force that interface onto people with non-touchscreen devices. Microsoft compromised the desktop/laptop functionality by catering to tablets/hybrid laptops. You say not to limit yourself to a non-hybrid laptop, but a laptop isn't the kind of thing that people replace every year, and many people and business already have laptops that are not hybrids. Also, this isn't directed at anyone specific, but I feel it needs to be said:
  15. I don't even know what that means, so I'm guessing "no".
  16. And home: Me. My wife. Me and my wife.
  17. So to add some anecdotal "evidence": Tonight for Halloween we saw 4 kids dressed as Angry Birds and 5 kids dressed as Mario characters. Among the Angry Birds there were 3 red birds and 1 ice bird, and among the Mario characters there were 4 Marios and 1 Waluigi.
  18. As a side note, try saying "lackluster launch lineup" three times fast. *Edit* - Apparently there were more posts since I opened the page...
  19. Might be thinking of Playstation Suite.
  20. So you were basically playing Dawn of the Dead: The Boardgame?
  21. I have not played AC3 as it is not out on the One True Platform until November 18. The more I think about the new combat controls the more I think I like them though. The only thing I don't like is that there's no longer a distinction between run and sprint, which means that when on rooftops it's impossible to prevent her from spontaneously leaping into nowhere unless you want to walk super slow. Now rather than R to run and R+X or R+ to sprint, it's just R to sprint.
  22. Here's what I'm wearing for work today: There are surprisingly few Halloween costumes that it's acceptable to wear to court.
  23. I haven't played SR2, but I really liked the use of the smartphone in SR3. I felt it was a really good way to provide you with a very computery menu without breaking you out of the game world. It didn't scream "NOW YOU'RE LOOKING AT GAME OPTIONS BECAUSE YOU'RE PLAYING A GAME" it was just "now you're looking at your phone". GTAIV was similar, but IIRC they didn't use it for as much.
