  1. When I look at the election results and see that Florida still isn't decided yet, just like every other year, it makes me realize something: I'm glad their bullshit doesn't matter for once. Also, with the possible exception of Florida, Romney pretty handily won the Confederacy.
  2. Yeah, I actually overstated what I meant. I was thinking that phones will become common in like 5 years and dominant in like 10-15 years.
  3. I've been thinking for a while that I'm sure it won't be too long before smartphones begin to replace credit cards as the primary payment method, and then the end of that article says this: My other thought was that it doesn't seem very secure to use your card as the one-time-code generator, because then if someone steals your card they've also got that generator.
  4. Worked for me. *Edit* - I should say it took me to the US site, showed it as free, and let me add it to the cart. I didn't actually "buy" it cause I'm at work and already have it on Steam.
  5. Man, the Nexus 10 is butt fugly.

I have a Nexus 7 and really really like it. I use it for reading books a lot, and I think the 10 would be too big for that, but I haven't actually used the 10 so beyond that I can't say.

how long does the battery last on a regular basis? like an app here and there, checking the web, etc...

Several days. I can get about 8 hours continuous out of it reading on the Kindle app, less if I'm doing something that uses the wifi or is more processor intensive. But unless I'm using it a lot I only have to charge it once or twice a week.

  6. I like how that guy in the video says "Over the last 4 years the conservative movement has grown stronger." Yes, that's why the Republicans lost seats in both houses, especially Tea Party seats, and also failed to take the Presidency...
  7. Yeah, ordinarily I wouldn't have done that at all, but I was trying to generate different states for import into Mass Effect 2.

    LGBT

"LGBT" is the catch-all term you're looking for. And yeah, it's like Dean said, it's more of an "our powers combined" thing. Which is why they'll sometimes throw Ally in there.
  9. That's a human installation, not a Forerunner one, or I'd agree with you.
  10. Apparently in the future humans don't need to breathe air (pics from a late-game mission, but no explicit story spoilers):

    LGBT

I agree with that to some extent, but with any prejudice I believe there are three stages of portrayal, and with LGBT (or at least LGB, T might still be in the first) we're in the second stage: 1) It's acceptable to portray them negatively because that's just how people think of them. 2) You can only portray them positively because they're human beings and you don't want to reinforce prejudicial attitudes. 3) You can portray them negatively again because now the prejudice is eroded enough that it's acceptable to acknowledge that even though it's not bad to be a member of that group, those members are still human beings with flaws.
  12. 343 nailed it. I don't know if it was my favorite Halo, but it was definitely Halo.
  13. Trump ran for the Republican nomination and lost.
  14. Unless you're making more than $250k per year the democrats don't want to raise your taxes.
  15. The only playthrough I kept Kaiden for was the one where I romanced him.
  16. Apparently 15% of people voting for Obama said that the main reason was because of his response to Sandy (which is obviously not true, that's just the thing that was in their head when asked the question). I'm calling it now though: Obama intentionally caused Sandy so he could react well to it and thus win the election.
  17. He was just such a bland character. He was like Kaiden in ME1, except even less interesting.
  18. And now it's showing $79.99 with no discount. Awesome find, FLD. Glad I jumped on it fast enough.
  19. Actually no, the second was supposed to be referring to the Needler. The indications of being shot while in scope are pretty much the same as being shot not in scope. It's just the Needler that it's hard to realize you're being shot by.
  20. I like how one of Trump's tweets is that the electoral college is a disaster for democracy, which implies that he thinks Obama lost the popular vote but won the electoral college. As of right now Obama is leading the popular vote 50.3% to 48.2% (I guess the other 1.5% went to third parties). Also, the Republicans do still control the House, but it looks like it won't be quite as wide a margin as before. Dems took a majority in the Senate, but they don't really have "control" because of the filibuster.
  21. Well, here are my impressions so far, jotted down as I was playing. No actual story spoilers, but tagged anyway because it still gives away stuff about the game. I know it reads like primarily criticism, but overall I'm very impressed. For all my nitpicks, they managed to capture the feel of Halo, and I'm really enjoying it. If I didn't already know, I never would have called that it was made by a different team.
  22. For what it's worth, I've been watching the gambling odds on the election for a couple weeks (traditionally they've been the best predictor of election outcomes) and they've had Obama a pretty strong favorite the whole time. And his odds margin over Romney has skyrocketed in the last few hours.
  23. Just switched from the physical version preorder to this. That season pass is what sold it for me.
