  1. Did we just fix copyright law? Cause I'm pretty sure that's what just happened.
  2. lmao, completely forgot about "wood" as a containment material for metalbenders.
  3. Just the fact that Harley is kind of a give away if you think about it much.
  4. I agree wholeheartedly that story DLC is the best kind, but in this game I actually really enjoyed the challenge maps so the challenge DLC is kind of appealing.
  5. http://www.joystiq.c...-quinn-content/ Harley Quinn DLC launching April 30, GOTY edition of the game including all DLC launches May 29 on PS360. *Edit* - Harley DLC launch has just been corrected to May 29 on PS3 and May 30 on 360. Apparently no word on PC, though a reasonable guess would be May 30 since the PC version uses GFWL.
  6. I know Guru Pathik's explanation corresponds to Toph inventing metal bending, but I didn't remember him saying anything about the bits of unpurified earth in the metal. I'd forgotten about that picture you posted, and that is more convincing. Also, I knew the idea had occurred to other people before, which is why I figured it was just that Toph was the greatest earthbender ever that allowed her to do it. Again though, that picture convinces me. So does that mean if you could make some kind of ultra-pure metal you could make a metalbender-proof cage? *Edit* - I want to buy that comic but I don't want to pay for shipping on a $6 item and Walmart doesn't carry it in store.
  7. I was under the impression that the different personalities of the various bending disciplines had more to do with the bending itself rather than the tribe. Each type of bending requires a certain outlook/philosophical approach, so when you're that kind of bender you're immersed in that philosophy for your entire life, and that shapes your personality. Re: metal bending, that stuff about using seismic sense to detect trace amounts of unpurified earth in the metal is on the Avatar Wiki page, but I don't remember anything about that being in the show, and their citation is just to the episode where Toph metal bends. Without some official source saying that's the case I'm ignoring that and going with the (to me) more obvious explanation that metal is just as much "earth" as stone is, and that's why they can bend it, forget that "trace amounts" stuff. As far as seismic sense goes, I always figured it was a thing that any earthbender could do, just most don't need to cause they can see normal-wise, so they never learn it.
  8. What's coming out in October besides Assassin's Creed? I thought November was usually the "oh shit too many games" month.
  9. Red Dead Redemption is already the greatest thing ever, but it would be even MORE the greatest thing ever if it were on PC.

I think that sales of Alan Wake were goodish on 360 but disappointing considering the pedigree of the devs and the hype surrounding it. Yeah modding of RDR would have been AWESOME. Could have even gone crazy by putting in cars and shit!

My friend used to complain about not being able to use the cars in Blackwater. That would have been a pretty cool mod. It would have been cheap because you could just run over everyone and everything while being completely protected from gunshots(might as well have given john an Iron Man suit really), but it would have been neat.

True, disappointing is more the word. Yeah! It would have been peasy to make custom campaigns and more interesting missions, too. God. Missed opportunity.

  10. Yeah, I didn't recognize JK Simmons at all. I did catch that Ozai was Mark Hamill when Zuko confronted him in that underground cave (can't remember what exactly tipped me off).
  11. I'm mildly irritated by the apparent ease with which people can bend lightning and metal. Both of those in the original series were supposed to be OMG HOLY CRAP I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU CAN DO THAT. Metal bending even more so than lightning bending. Now I'm willing to give metal bending a pass because maybe it was only hard cause no one had invented it yet, and throughout her life Toph was able to figure out how to teach the technique to others beyond "you just have to be the greatest earth bender ever." The lightning though really bugs me, because that was an established art that was very difficult. I wish they'd just made it so the fire benders were heating boilers to drive turbines to generate electricity, rather than creating the electricity directly.
  12. I did. So far I'm really enjoying this show.
  13. That economy stuff sounds awesome, I hope it's true. The wanted level stuff sounds cool from a systems perspective, but like it might be irritating from a gameplay perspective. May is in keeping with their traditional release window, but I don't think it's impossible that it might come out this year (though I'm sure the retailers are just pulling shit out of their asses for those release dates).
  14. When I said Zuko was Indian I meant the actor in the live-action movie. In the TV series the Fire Nation was supposed to be based on Japan. @P4: In the movie they're played by white actors, in the TV show they're Inuit.
  15. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/20/maxis-simcitys-always-online-req-not-about-piracy/ You know why we don't believe you Maxis? Because based on what you've said about the multiplayer so far it is not so fundamentally integrated into the game as to justify the lack of an entirely offline mode. It's just nifty add-on features. Honestly, for me at least continuing to try to claim that it's not a DRM measure at all is doing more damage to their image than if they'd just admit it's DRM. I can live with startup-activation DRM, but them maintaining this position damages their credibility with me, and damaged credibility is difficult to repair.
  16. Yeah, I'm pretty sure at least Zuko was Indian. I think this was a much worse offense: From the cartoon: "I know, let's make all the good guys white! There's no way that could be misinterpreted..." As an aside, why does a google image search for "sokka katara" have to turn up porn? Wtf is wrong with the internet?
  17. What does delete the blob mean?
  18. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/20/new-halo-4-shots-reintroduce-grunts-elites-and-guns/ Some screens and concept art. My question is why aren't the grunts wearing masks? They breathe a cryogenic methane atmosphere, which is generally not pleasant for any of the other sentient races.
  19. I have half a mind to stab the next person who appends "gate" to a political scandal.
  20. The only reason I was able to enjoy that movie is because I went into it knowing it would be utter shit based on everyone else's reaction.
  21. I just don't even know what to say to that...
  22. I hope that's true. I like it when the consoles are a fair way behind PCs because then it means I can build a PC that easily maxes out multiplat games for a very reasonable price.
  23. On a semi-related note I was super excited to see House of the Dead 4 on PS3 with Move support, as I played the crap out of 3 on Xbox with a light-gun, but based on the demo it's completely unplayable with any gun peripheral because it doesn't recognize nav controllers and the grenade button is on the left trigger.
