I'm fourth generation German-American, but no one would ever consider me "German", or even German-American. I'm just American. The African-American thing is used to refer to the racial group, similar to white or Caucasian or European, because the other terms for that racial group became too politically charged. Black is becoming more acceptable again though. In the words of my friend's dad: "I'm not African-American! I've never even fucking been to Africa! I'm just American!" In pretty much every other context "Heritage-American" pretty much only refers to people who actually immigrated from that place. Anyone born here tends to just be "American".

I would consider myself part of the left and I wouldn't necessarily dispute this. Blanket statements are fun. *Edit* - Okay, now that I've read the whole article I can actually comment on the rest of it: I think it's just as disingenuous to say that "Democrats intentionally promote the idea of racist America to get black votes" as it is to say "Republicans are racists." I'm sure there are some Democrats who think that way, just like there are some Republicans who are racist. Also, to say American is the least racist country in the world (whether true or not) is entirely different from saying it's not racist. There is plenty of institutionalized racism in the US. For instance, black and latino defendants are more likely to be convicted, and when convicted in general receive a harsher sentence, than similarly situated white defendants. Is it better than a lot of people act like? Hell yes it is. But that doesn't mean it's not a problem at all.

So does it work like other slurs? Since I'm a heterosexual who intends to have kids in the biblical fashion, can I use the term breeder?

I love Arrested Development too, but yeah generally I hate the awkward approach to comedy.

Still have the same issue any other Wii games have with being ported over and vice versa. The Wii not having the power of the PS3 doesn't prevent Wii->PS3 ports, just the other way around.

I agree that in general whistleblowers need to be protected, but in the military an intelligence agencies there are countervailing considerations that imo outweigh the need to protect whistleblowers. In my experience people, even educated, otherwise intelligent people, are absolutely retarded about what they believe it is and is not legal for the government to do. I don't think we should be giving people carte blanche to substitute their own judgement about what is or is not legal and what is or is not an "actual" threat to national security for that of their superiors. Even if you only give immunity to people who disclose actual illegal activity everyone is going to believe that that's what they're doing and that they're in the clear until they actual do it and find out they're wrong.

Anybody played No More Heroes Paradise? I remember hearing good things about the Wii version. Kinda surprised more Wii games haven't been ported over, honestly.

The only time I found the camera irritating was when I would be standing still on something like a fire escape and trying to look up the building to find a grapple. Any time I was moving I was always running, so the speed didn't bother me. Obviously it would have been nice to just have analog run/walk controls, but I didn't think it was a big issue.

So be opposed to shitty marketing/exploitation, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. This is like saying blaxploitation films are bad, so we just shouldn't have films staring black actors.

That's a bad line of reasoning. The fact that one person isn't being prosecute shouldn't be a get out of jail free card for somebody else. Like I said, they probably need to be prosecuting people running the program too, but that doesn't let this guy off the hook.

Yeah, the model looks kind of shitty, but as far as the overall design of the package goes I think this is about the only time I've liked the US box art over the international one. Pixelation's obviously just the specific image I grabbed off google.
