  1. Do all of that site's articles have sexy ladies at the top?
  2. But Gamestop put that game up for sale used, knowing full well that it said that DLC was included and that the code may have already been used. They also mark games down only $5 used, while knowing it's missing the $15 DLC. So fuck them.
  3. 3 is the first season I'd consider "good", 8 is the best season, but through 12 is worth watching.
  4. 281,474,976,712,644-281,474,977,000,000 does not equal 1988, it equals -287,356. 16^12 doesn't equal 281,474,977,000,000 either, it equals 281,474,976,710,656. However, conveniently, 281,474,976,712,644-281,474,976,710,656 DOES equal 1988. I think what happened is that whoever made that graphic did 16^12 in Google rather than a real calculator program, which gives you 2.81474977 × 10^14 as the answer, which when converted to standard notation gives you 281,474,977,000,000. It's a rounding error that they didn't bother to check, and so when they carried that number through the rest of the calculations it made their equations wrong. I mean, think about it, 281,474,977,000,000 is BIGGER than 281,474,976,712,644 (they're the same right up until the 977/976, and I'm pretty sure 7 is bigger than 6), so subtracting it out of 281,474,976,712,644 couldn't ever give you anything other than a negative number. *Edit* - Okay, that's super nit-picky. Blame it on my engineering background, I can't just assume someone's math is correct unless it's MUCH higher level than arithmetic.
  5. No Firefight? My interest level just got downgraded. Not passing final judgment, I'll wait to see how Spartan Ops looks, not to mention the main campaign, though the fact that you have to buy the SO chapters with in-game currency is a bad sign.
  6. ~$60 is a reasonable price for a good hoodie. But really the issue for me is the $15 shipping.
  7. I'm not really clear on what the problems are with GFWL either, to be honest. Apparently people sometimes have issues with save games disappearing, or it disconnecting them from the service and as a result booting them out of the game, but I've never encountered anything like that. The one issue I have encountered is that you can't be playing a GFWL game on PC at the same time as you're (or someone else in your house is) watching Netflix on your 360 because you can't be signed in to the Live account in two places at once, which is admittedly irritating.
  8. The false advertisement in the second bullet point isn't the part they talk about later, it's the part where they say "radically different ending scenarios."
  9. Where do you see GFWL mentioned? Also, I know I'll be shot for saying this, but I kind of like GFWL integration (I'm an achievement whore, and I'm more attached to my Live account's achievements than any of my other accounts).
  10. Sorry, it wasn't the elitist bit I took issue with, it was the PC bit. I don't even take issue with you thinking the combat is boring, really my thing is that there are tons of action RPGs out there, but far fewer with the more methodical, team-based combat, and the ones that do have something resembling that tend to be JRPGs and I can't stand those because of their structure. I tried playing Persona 3 FES recently and by the time I got to the first battle I was already bored to tears by the game and quit, and that's kind of been my experience with JRPGs as a whole. That's why I'll so vehemently defend DA:O's combat: I want that kind of gameplay, and I don't really have anywhere else to get it.
  11. BAN HIM! Honestly, I don't even think I'm a "computer elitist" in this sense. I played DA:O on 360 and loved it cause it played like KotOR which I played on Xbox. In fact the only RPGs I can think of playing on PC are Oblivion, Skyrim, F:NV (all three of which I quite liked) and Diablo if that counts (which I didn't really like). So I don't think it's a PC-elitist thing, I just like the more methodical combat of DA:O. As I said above, I don't think every game should be that way, but I still enjoy it.
  12. I think those picked up their racist connotations because of how people have used them in the past, rather than the words themselves.
  13. June 29 on your side of the pond. *Edit* - And yeah, I'm super excited too. The only reason I haven't preordered yet is because Amazon isn't offering release date delivery yet.
  14. Yeah, I don't think every RPG should be like Origins by any means, but I do love that game and wish they'd stayed with that style for this one series. Hopefully they'll return to it with 3.
  15. I'll just leave this here... http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/11/no-reused-levels-details-of-dragon-age-3-emerge/
  16. I finally broke down and was getting ready to order the N7 hoodie even though it's $75, but then in the checkout process I got to the part where shipping is $15 and I'm sorry, but I can't bring myself to pay $90 for a hoodie.
  17. Well I'll definitely be watching that when it releases.
  18. It was a strategic retreat, not a defeat.
  19. I can't find that old French Military Victories Google bomb. I knew the bomb was fixed but I was hoping I'd still be able to find the site.
  20. Yeah, he's the guy who said "I'm not as big a fan of NASCAR as some people, but I'm good friends with several team owners."* *Paraphrasing from memory.
  21. Then of course there's the fact that none of you can stand those frogs across the Channel. Us versus Them is built into our brains, and racism is just one manifestation of that. Others are nationalism, political parties, religious prejudice, sports team rivalries, etc etc. We're never going to fully overcome it.
  22. I'm fourth generation German-American, but no one would ever consider me "German", or even German-American. I'm just American. The African-American thing is used to refer to the racial group, similar to white or Caucasian or European, because the other terms for that racial group became too politically charged. Black is becoming more acceptable again though. In the words of my friend's dad: "I'm not African-American! I've never even fucking been to Africa! I'm just American!" In pretty much every other context "Heritage-American" pretty much only refers to people who actually immigrated from that place. Anyone born here tends to just be "American".
