  1. http://penny-arcade....skyrims-opening Interesting. I understand their point, but I think Skyrim's opening was pretty effective. It certainly made me intrigued and want to learn more about the world. Though I will say that I agree that the character creation was in a bad place.
  2. I would be behind a right to the free flow of information (freedom of speech, access to the speech of others, etc), but I think saying the Internet is a human right is stupidly specific. Is the telephone a human right? What about the telegraph? Postal service? Smoke signals? I mean, it's just silly to break it down to specific technologies when you can cover it all with a more generalized statement of the right. @Battra: From a theoretical standpoint rights may have their source in God or nature or otherwise be inherent, but until those rights are enshrined in the laws of men they're pretty meaningless from a practical standpoint.
  3. Here's the US's response if the UN says SOPA violates their charter on human rights: (I'm opposed to SOPA, but that is what the US's response would be.)
  4. Seee!!! This is why I don't bother moving threads until a full proper confirmation comes from Blizzard. I call BS, that's just Blizzard trying to cover because the cat got out of the bag earlier than they wanted. They didn't say they're not doing it, just that they're not confirming that they're doing it.
  5. It's a tap on a keg too. Basically it's only a faucet if it's connected to running water, otherwise it's a tap.
  6. Well yeah, that's how it is here too between states. So you were asking about the practicals of what would happen at the border, rather than where the border would be, I didn't get that at first. It would surely take them a while to lock it down, assuming they even wanted to.
  7. Doesn't Scotland already have a well-defined border? I'm not clear on exactly how the UK is set up, but I was under the impression that the various countries had well-defined borders and were semi-sovereign, kind of like states in the US. If Texas ever actually does secede the border wouldn't change short of the US invading or vice-versa (or I suppose some kind of treaty, but something tells me if Texas seceded they wouldn't agree to any reduction in borders, there'd be a war over it).
  8. That was actually the impression I got too. Though now that I think about it I should have known, based on your activity in the Steam Trading thread (got to buy the games to get the goodies).
  9. Scotland and Texas are the same person?
  10. Fine, I'll move it then.
  11. I think that might be a slight oversimplification. They didn't win it in court, they settled, which means Interplay agreed to it (also Bethesda is paying them $2 million, which I know isn't much but it's something). The only reason Interplay would have agreed to it is if they thought there was a pretty good chance of them losing in court, and the only reason they would have thought that is if they actually did breach the original agreement. Also, based on my understanding of the agreement (which is admittedly sparse) there's no way Bethesda could have won the old Fallout titles in court, only the rights to the MMO. The fact that Interplay gave up something they knew they couldn't lose in court shows that there was some actual bargaining going on there.
  12. You are every retailer's ideal customer.
  13. The cougars (teehee) in that game were even worse. They'd come dashing out of nowhere at mach 3, kill your horse and blaze off into the distance, only to come back from a completely different direction to do the same to you.
  14. lol, you don't need to post the entire list every time.
  15. Well yeah, there's nothing negative about it for you, Selfish McSelfishhead.
  16. Hey, they DID used to think the world was flat, just it was about 3000 years longer ago than they act like... Edit - about the eras, what Strangelove said. The only times I can think of that aren't named after wars a the prohibition era, the great depression and the gilded age.
  17. Why will you get the 3g version if you won't use the data connection?
  18. I got a smartphone so that I could sync up with my work's calendar and email system, but I also use it for navigation, etc (yes twitter too), but the only time I use it for web browsing is if I want to look something up really fast or I'm REALLY bored and I'm somewhere where I don't have access to a computer with internet access. It's not very practical for everyday use, but it's sure convenient sometimes.
  19. That is a terrifying and awesome tool for public involvement. I hope more apps like that become available (or even better a general-purpose app like that, like they talk about in the last paragraph).
  20. Oh, I'm really far behind on my backlog too, it's just I'm choosing to play the newer entries. I still have The Witcher (the first one) on there.
