  1. I found the combat in Amalur super boring and clunky.
  2. The leveling system is completely different from Oblivion's. It's still possible to level up wrong, but you have to work pretty damn hard to accomplish it (i.e. by intentionally power-leveling non-combat skills at low levels).
  3. Without getting into whatever problems this specific program might have, I will say that in general terms I am very much okay with the idea of requiring people receiving unemployment benefits to do work to retain them.
  4. Nye-key and poor-shuh. Poorsh is used, but generally more as a nick-name, like how you'd call a Chevrolet a Chevy or a BMW a beemer.
  5. Yeah, we need to stop piracy! Why don't we just do away with that Fourth Amendment thing while we're at it? That would make it so much easier to catch criminals...
  6. I used enchantments that reduce the magicka cost of destruction spells. I only reduced it by something like 75%, but it's actually possible to reduce the cost by 100% and make the destruction spells cost 0 magicka.
  7. Your brain triangulates the position of sounds based on time delay between ears and other factors. Surround sound headphones model that and use it to trick your brain into thinking the sound is coming from somewhere in 3D space even though you've only got one speaker for each ear. They're basically like 3D glasses for your ears. Also, cancelled the original sound card and reordered the same one from Newegg (yesterday they were the same price on Amazon and Newegg but Amazon was giving free shipping, today the Newegg one went on sale by 35% and added free shipping, so...)
  8. Every time I post a movie purchase Battra has to come along and make me look like an uncultured jerk.
  9. @FDS: Nope. No Asus cards that I can find support both Dolby Digital Live and optical audio in/out. I could get one that just does the Dolby Headphones, which would be fine for just PC sound, but I want to be able to run my console sound through the same setup so I don't have to constantly plug/unplug cables when I switch back and forth. The Creative card allows me to plug the optical audio from the console into the card's input and it will pass that audio through to the output, which runs to the headphones.
  10. While I can't argue with any of those points, cause they're all true, I find the experience of playing enjoyable, so I don't get bored with it.
  11. Because I want one that will cooperate with my surround sound headphones because it bothers me that my PC game sound is so much worse than my PS360 sound.
  12. I guess I didn't completely resist it, just redirected:
  13. Oh I agree with this wholeheartedly. I just don't want the critiques masquerading as reviews. *Edit* - Okay, why all of a sudden is the forum not putting an empty line after a quote box? I liked that it did that.
  14. I disagree, I think reviews should stay the hell away from that territory. If they don't they'll become like film reviews, completely useless as a measure of entertainment value. Critique and review are both things that should be happening, but I do not think they need to get mixed in with each other. Okay, now I sound racist...
  15. I most definitely do NOT think game reviews should become critiques. Critique is interesting and definitely something that should happen more, but I also think the more informative review should stay, as it serves a very valuable purpose in informing consumers about the product. Reviews as they are now should not be done away with. Why do people act as if critiques and reviews are mutually exclusive, and we have to do away with reviews in order to have critique?
  16. Why the new account? I think game reviews and game criticism need to be two separate things. Reviews are so the consumer can decide whether a particular product is worth their time/money, criticism is much more intellectual/philosophical. If criticism starts merging with reviews then the games industry will end up like the film industry, with the professional reviews being almost entirely useless to the end consumer. I like reading games criticism, but it's for an entirely different purpose than why I read reviews.
  17. I think region locking in general is retarded.
  18. Oh yeah, I wasn't saying you wouldn't use it, I was just saying I wouldn't use it.
  19. I want a Move, but I know if I get it it will be just like the Kinect: never used, ever.
  20. You need "" around the url. You can also just use the URL button (it's the one that looks like a couple of chain links with a green + symbol).
  21. I don't think Origin necessarily has to play nice with Steam for it to work. IIRC Mass Effect saves are located at %username%/My Documents/My Games/Mass Effect/ That save location has nothing to do with Steam, and there's no reason to think that the saves in it are Steam specific either, so there's no reason to think that an Origin version of ME3 wouldn't be able to use them.
