  1. Also, protip: turn off regular antialiasing and use FXAA instead. It looks about as good as 4x AA (better in some ways, as it will antialias transparencies, textures, shadows, etc, which regular AA will not), and it's WAY less resource intensive so it lets you turn everything else up higher.
  2. I'm playing Battle Mage Jesus, so my character is ridiculous enough that I can just do what I feel like without it really clashing.
  3. I meant attributes as in physical appearance, for which people only seem to react to race and gender. It's cool that they react to your skills though.
  4. Usually it's because they use the console FOV on the PC version as well. The console FOV is designed for you to be sitting some distance back from the screen, so it's not filling as much of your view, and doesn't work as well on a PC where you're sitting much closer.
  5. Has anyone else had the problem where you have to turn your speaker volume WAY up because Skyrim is so damn quiet? And if so have you found a solution? I have to turn mine up so high that there's a constant background hiss.
  6. To fix the vertical mouse sensitivity go to the Skyrim.ini file in Documents\MyGames\Skyrim and change the following lines fMouseHeadingYScale=0.0100 fMouseHeadingXScale=0.0200 to be the same (I changed them both to 0.0200, but people say making them both 0.0100 also works). The lines should be under the Controls heading. If they're not there just add them.
  7. Wife's laptop finally went kaput, so got her a replacement. Inspiron 15R 2nd gen.
  8. I can't speak for the reviewers, but all I was having to do was push down on the d-pad in order to re-center the pointer, because the Wii Motion+ lost track of which direction the TV was. Using the sensor bar would have fixed that.
  9. Damnit, I was hoping they'd fixed that for the final version. WTF were they thinking not using the sensor bar AT ALL?
  10. It would be cool if different NPCs were attracted to different physical attributes (beyond just gender) so if you made a giant buff black dude then different people would be attracted to you than if you made a small, frail albino guy.
  11. I want a Kindle, but I'm holding out to see if v2 of the Fire has storage expansion slots.
  12. Verticle speed is controlled by your framerate? In what universe does that makes sense?
  13. Joystiq gave it a 4.5/5. Said that lying within it is the best Zelda game of all time, but that at some parts it's covered up by needless filler. Said even without the filler it would have been 25-30 hours, and the brilliance still has plenty of time to shine through. That was the only negative comment they had about the entire game.
  14. Skyrim has completely destroyed this forum's activity. Now how am I supposed to kill time?

I bought Skyrim but all it does is crash my PC so it looks like I'm in the same boat as you.

I bought Skyrim but it makes me so dizzy. So I can't play either! But I really want to!

  15. Yeah but in Fable you weren't really crafting, they were just minigames to get money. The fact that a sword was produced was simply a visual flourish, it wasn't a real sword in the world and it didn't actually affect anything at all. And if they're going to have it so you can still be attacked while in a convo then they REALLY shouldn't have made it so that NPCs can interrupt you while in combat. There should also be some kind of handling of the situation where you get attacked while in a convo, instead of everyone just pretending like nothing's happening. ("Hold that thought while I deal with the guy who just hit me in the face with an axe...")
  16. I can't help but feel this is appropriate.
  17. I was this close to downvoting that...
  18. @Rocky: the video from the GT review was the 360 version of the game, so of course there are low-res textures.
  19. Maybe it uses Bink in the intro splash screens? Or the credits or something?
  20. The closest thing to a launch day deal I ever see is that sometimes Steam will give you 10% off for a preorder, or Amazon will give you a $10 or $20 Amazon credit (which admittedly for me is as good as just knocking the price down that much since I shop on Amazon all the time). Of course, I live in a small town, so if I want to shop for games anywhere other than Walmart I have to drive an hour to Wichita. And even that isn't big (~300k people), so my only options there are Walmart, Best Buy, and Gamestop. I've never seen a mom and pop store that sells games.
  21. I voted for "maybe one day" because I don't feel the need to get it immediately and I feel like that kind of encompasses "once the price drops" *Edit* - I'd say at a glance Red Dead looked better, but that's because 90% of the game was open desert. It's not that the engine was doing a better job, it's that the stuff it was rendering is easier to make look good. *Edit 2* - Waiting for it to drop in price might not be such a good plan, as Oblivion is still $20 for the GOTY, and $25 for the mega-super-GOTY.
  22. And here I've been thinking how Skyrim looks shit tons better than any of their other games...
  23. Sequels not explaining wtf happened in the games that came before. Even if I played the game before, odds are it's been a while. Forgive me if I can't remember all the details of its needlessly convoluted plot, I still don't want to be left completely lost. Even if it's just an option on the main menu to watch a video that quickly recaps what happened in the previous game, please give me something.
  24. That's something I think lots of games could do better at: explaining wtf happened in the previous games.
