  1. No, I understand that, I'm not saying you should be able to just end it with one or the other. But if you're favoring Catherine then Vincent shouldn't spend the last half of the game saying how Katherine is his one true love and he knows that now so he's going to marry her and be happy with her forever. Rather they should have had him saying that he doesn't think he wants to be with Katherine, but he still cares about her and doesn't want to hurt her, etc etc. They could have had his words and actions conform more to player actions without doing away with the central conflict of the story.
  2. See, I feel the opposite. Yes, the choices themselves are more interesting than the standard choices, but the fact that the only thing they affect is the end cutscene means that the whole time you're playing you feel like your choices are having no effect whatsoever. The whole time I was going "why is Vincent doing/saying this? That's not what my Vincent would do/want."
  3. I might be the only person within 300 miles who says "soda" instead of "pop".
  4. According to Wikipedia (I know, I know) it wasn't a mistake: *Edit* - Actually, oddly enough it may have been both...
  5. 8 more this month? Jesus, I thought November was kicking my ass, and all I have coming up is Halo: Anniversary, Batman: Arkham City, Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. God damn PC gamers getting the shaft...
  6. I think in general I find the different words that other places use more interesting than different pronunciations. Though I will say that "aluminium" is a lot more fun to say than "aluminum". I guess that's kind of a mid-point between different word vs different pronunciation.
  7. That's amusing to me since Massachusetts is considered the birthplace of the American Revolution.
  8. Definitely fewer trees. The only trees around here are either the ones that were lucky enough to grow next to the (few and far-between) bodies of water, or the ones that were planted for wind-breaks after the dust bowl. Actually, I say that, but towns tend to have a fair number of trees, at least in the residential areas. But again those were planted, they didn't grow naturally. As for guns, I'd be surprised if we have fewer. I'm currently working on an estate case where the only real assets the guy had were 40+ shotguns and rifles, and then a similar number of handguns. Plus way more ammo than you'd ever need. Of course that guy was crazy, but still...
  9. Even then it's on a whole different scale. According to Wikipedia, Somerset is 1/50 the area of Kansas (1,610 sq mi compared to 82,277), and has 16 times the population density (570 people/sq mi, compared to 35). And Kansas isn't even the most sparsely populated state, there are 10 others with fewer people/sq mi than we have. The whole of Somerset is only about 40% larger than the county I live in (1,132 sq mi), and there are 105 counties in Kansas. Cowley County has an even lower population density than the Kansas average; here it's 31 people/sq mi. Once you get out of town it's usually about a mile between farm houses, and often much more.
  10. You need to make better use of sales.
  11. Except the meter determines Catherine, Freedom, or Katherine. The Stage 9 questions determine Bad, Good, or Perfect. You could technically go all out for Catherine, but when you begin to answer in the final stage that your actions are truly more in relation to Katherine, you're going to end up with the Bad ending for Katherine due to you near instant "revelation." Right, that's what I'm saying, there was no effect until the end cutscene. I'm not saying the method for determining which ending you get is a bad one, I just think player actions should have had a greater affect on the story development before that point. I didn't like it that the whole game I was blowing off Katherine and hitting on Catherine, but then every single time I lost direct control Vincent was all "gtfo Catherine, I love Katherine forever and want to be with her". That's not being conflicted, that's being schizophrenic. The dissonance between cutscene-Vincent and player-Vincent really destroyed my immersion, because the whole time I was pissed at the game because "I" (Vincent) was doing things I totally did not want to be doing. It took almost all the enjoyment out of the game.
  12. Yeah, I don't think a lot of people in Europe realize how spread out the US is. Hell, I don't think a lot of Americans on the coasts realize how spread out the middle of the country is. I have a friend who grew up in a town in western Kansas where the nearest movie theatre was an hour and a half away, on the highway (60-65 mph).
  13. you seriously have spent $2600 on steam?
  14. Oh yeah, I knew none of those were in Seattle proper, when I said "all around" I meant "surrounding". I guess it's a regional thing. To me, living in Kansas, something 11 miles away is downright close by. It's normal to drive to other towns to visit their stores/services/whatever. People frequently drive 45 miles to Wichita to go shopping, or take a day trip to Kansas City which is 220 miles away. Only having to drive 11 miles to get to something is the height of convenience.
  15. There are like 20 Walmarts all around Seattle... http://www.walmart.com/storeLocator/ca_storefinder_results.do?sfsearch_single_line_address=seattle%2C+WA&serviceName=ALL&sfatt=ALL&rx_title=&rx_dest=%2Findex.gsp
  16. As much as I loved Vice City, I'd think it was kind of dumb if it was Tommy. Or at least, I'd think it was dumb if the PC is Tommy. Wouldn't be dumb for Tommy to be in the game, I just don't want to play as him again. And I'd prefer he not be a super major NPC either. I want Rockstar to keep doing new things with the story and characters.
  17. I'm gonna gamble on the PC version.
  18. I just went back and watched a couple trailers for GTA IV, and all the visuals are pretty significantly improved (which you'd expect for a game coming out 4 years later), it's just that the people were the most noticeable I think. Oh, I'm sure this game will be way bigger than SA. One of my complaints with SA is that they tried to do too much for the hardware, so instead of feeling like a collection of large cities spread out across the huge desert it felt like a collection of small towns jammed pretty close together. I doubt they'll have the same problem in this one.
  19. Is it just me, or do the people look a hell of a lot better than they did in GTA IV?
  20. It would to me, but only because I've spent so much time on the forum with you limeys. I don't think most Americans would have any idea what you meant.
  21. Or just wait a year for the GOTY edition.
  22. Yeah, I never had any problems getting mods to work with Steam for New Vegas (other than the normal kinds of problems you'd expect mods to cause anyway).
  23. Yeah, your sub doesn't have to be up for renewal during the time, you just have to buy the year during the time. Since it stacks anyone can do it.
  24. It's not for new members only, if you buy another year during this time you get the game too. What about the other incentives though? Cause if all i'm getting is Jurassic Park I can buy that for $30 and save myself $20.
