  1. As strange as it sounds to say it, Kingdoms of Amalur looks pretty darn good. I just hope the visual style has a bit more variety than what it looks like right now.

  2. Get on chat, guys. I'm lonely.

  3. So I've found you on Reddit. I was looking through some thread on /r/gaming and I saw a reply of yours, and when I looked through your older posts, I was shocked to see that Rainbow Six post a while back was made by you. That was on my front page!

  4. I wish to be involved in most future podcasts. My interests are varied!
  5. Apparently a lot of people had trouble with this boss. I never understood it, I always just breezed past him. There were a few other bosses that gave me trouble, though. Just focus all your attacks on the Beast itself, and if you've upgraded your steel sword abilities, you should be fine. Throw an Aard sign in there occasionally, too. What specifically are you having trouble with?
  6. Green Lantern has always been my favorite since I was a kid. I haven't been as excited for a movie as this one in a looooong time. The casting of Reynolds seemed off to me at first, but now I can see where they're going. I also love that they're really driving the 'Will' and 'Fear' aspects. Blackest Night is one of my favorite events ever. It captures the cosmic scale and style of the Lanterns so perfectly without being a silver-age cheesefest. That's why my hopes for this movie are so high. It seems like one of the first modern movies that can properly quantify the feel and style of comics, and for me, there's no better choice for such a thing than Green Lantern. Spider-Man involved a weird chrome-laced Spidey fighting a robot Osborn. The films were okay, but didn't do it for me. Thor was good, but got bogged down by poor characterization and a lackluster script. Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2 felt weird to me, and while I enjoyed them thoroughly, they didn't feel like comic books to me. Fantastic Four... let's not go there. And Superman Returns.... *shudders* Now... the Nolan Batmans... they are good, even great films in their own right, but as comic book films? No. The movies feel like movies. The setting is gritty. The Joker isn't cracking jokes, he's a manic depressive anarchist with a glasgow smile. There's no wham, bizz, pow. It's Morrison, not O'Neal. And while it makes for a good movie, I'm left disappointed and wanting more from a Batman movie. GL... if it disappoints, I'll be crushed. GL's my 4th favorite comic character ever, after Gorilla Grodd, Dr Doom and the Flash. That said, I read somewhere that a Flash movie is totally possible if GL performs well. So... GO SEE IT. WE COULD GET A FLASH MOVIE, DAMMIT.
  7. Huh. Totally not what I was expecting, but an excellent list. This should be an annual thing.
  8. I'm gonna shit my pants, I'm so excited.
  9. My guess: someone at IGN wanted a free PC and pitched this idea to the higher-ups, who bit.
  10. I'm strongly and strictly in the PC Gaming group here. To me, the pros of console gaming are 1. Exclusives 2. They Work 90% of the Time Seeing as how I have no major issues with games working on my PC, I don't see any arguments for consoles being equal or greater as truly valid. Consoles have exclusives, yes, though so do PCs. The gamepad argument is moot, as well, since I could very easily buy a 360 controller to use with my PC, and I am currently using a SIXAXIS. The PC as a gaming platform has more power, and therefore more potential for the creation of games. To me, console gaming is an outdated system that simply holds no viability in the modern day and doesn't have the ability to keep up with the PC's rapidly advancing pace. Consoles are less powerful, less versatile (no kb/m support), and are holding gaming as a medium back. Now to speak in narrower, more personal terms, I enjoy both platforms for what they have. The PC is my favorite platform, without a doubt, but the fact of the matter is that some of the greatest games of all time have been released on console and console only. While consoles may, in the modern day, be restricting the advance in gaming, the exclusive IPs that are launched on them hold vast importance for gaming's future as a medium. In reality, my thoughts are fairly conflicted. I easily prefer the PC as a platform, but it's folly to ignore what consoles have done for the medium and are continuing to do for it.
  11. Go into space. Become Absolute Monarch of Earth. Complete my Backlog. Drink the world's perfect Cola. Live Forever. Touch the wheel of an Airplane while moving. (I imagine this happening while the airplane is taxiing or moving slowly). Live In Pyongyang. Know Everything.
  12. INTJ 22/62/25/56 Makes sense, pretty accurate.
  13. It's gonna have Ezio and Altair, hopefully. Istanbul and Constantinople were very different places at different times, so they could do something really cool and interesting. I liked Altair only because he was a game protagonist that wasn't black or white. Okay, he was kinda white, but I'll take what I can get. I'm hoping for a 20s Shanghai or Hong Kong setting for AC3. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Realistically, as long as it's not modern or in the states I'm happy. Though I'm not sure how much more they can milk Europe for.
  14. So. Podcast. Let's do this. We have plenty of confirmed members, so let's get started sorting out logistics. I just quit my job (yay) and I have plenty of free time. I'm guessing the nighttime in the States would work best so the brits can participate. Alrighty, then. Btw, Dogs of War speech by Marc Antony from Julius Caesar. My voice is meh, though. Enjoy! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25883395/BrainAntony.wav
  15. Heh. 'Zed'. Anyway, in the version I knew it was 'Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with me.' I learned that in India, dunno if they use it in the states. Oh, right, my voice. Do I really have to PM it? That's sooooo much work. I'm just gonna post it here. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25883395/Braintalking.wav Btw, my name's "Sahir". I know I have a weird voice, and I was describing Seattle's weather today.
  16. I'm in. My voice is pretty ass, though. Be prepared.
  17. Playing Ar Tonelico for the first time. Fun so far, I have high hopes.

That's the first game I grabbed when Dean pointed out the existence of PCSX2 a few days ago. Can't wait to give it a try.

    4. Saturnine Tenshi

      Saturnine Tenshi

Oh, it's good that you started with the first one. Continuity and all.

  18. I'm optimistic about Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The movie's not related to the Tim Burton one OR the original. I'm guessing the apes will learn to use human weaponry or develop something of their own. I kind of have a thing for smart apes, like my favorite Supervillain is Gorilla Grodd, so I'm hoping the movie will be good. Looks like high production values and an interesting plot. X-Men: First Class looks absolutely excellent, excellent, excellent. I love the retro costumes and I'm so glad they added them in. I'm very optimistic about this movie, as well.
  19. Alrighty, then. I lost my earlier partner, so anyone wanna join up with me from Chapter 3? Anyone at all?
  20. Should I go for an i7-960 or a new i7 Sandy Bridge?

      staySICK

I'm assuming you are already running an x58 system? It'd be more cost effective to upgrade to a 960, instead of having to get a new mobo+cpu+ram set.

    4. Pirandello

      Pirandello

      ^pretty much that.

That, and I'm not particularly fond of Sandy Bridge, but mostly that's due to me knowing little about it compared to the 650.

  21. Finished Baten Kaitos Origins and Metroid Prime today, gonna go pick up Echoes tomorrow. Finished Days of Ruin and am now beating level 12 songs on DJ Max Portable 2 on 8 Button Mode. I finished Portal 2 Singleplayer yesterday, and finished up a long campaign in Empire. I'm moving on to Portal 2 co-op now, as well as a replay of BGs 1 and 2, which I'm particularly excited for.
  22. I... Portal 2 was so incredible. It's one of the best games I've played in a very, very, very long time. Every aspect of it just came together so excellently, and it's been polished to such an incredible quality one can't help but be in awe. I'm wowed in every way possible by the game. If you're on the fence, get the fuck off it and play the game. It's damn near perfect.
  23. Note: As an Indian, it's my responsibility to point this out, but all bollywood movies are musicals. If it doesn't have music, it's officially 'Indian Film'. Take it from someone who has family in the Indian film industry. Anyway, it seems we've fallen into my area of expertise. The new stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rz-zmJFeeE4 The old stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27ASuBNWBQQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xugaLJCRR5w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMqe45Yfnhs
  24. My (former) friend's thoughts on Portal 2: 12 hours of play for $50~=$4/hour. Not a very good investment. With the exception of movies, I can't think of a more expensive type of entertainment (even DirecTV with every channel is only about $2/hr even if you average less than 2 hours per day of consumption). Contrast with something like Halo which provides about 16 hours for first run through, enough enjoyment to do a second run through on a harder mode at probably twice the time and then co-op (which could be zero or hundreds of hours depending on individual) or Borderlands which is probably 50+ hours for a single player on first run through or something from Bethesda (Fallout, Oblivion) that's hundreds of hours on first run through. Game designers should be targeting sub $1/hour costing. Fans should be insulted with anything less. </soapbox> Rage Away.
