Are you serious?! Shogun 2 is fantastic! One of the worst RTS games you've ever played? What ranks as the best then, in your opinion? Also, what do you mean by "people are actually playing Shogun now?"? The game was just released last week! He's trolling. Ignore him.

I feel like Mortal Kombat really thrives on nostalgia. Seeing as how I have no nostalgia for the game, I never really saw the appeal. A slower paced, needlessly violent, less strategic fighter with simpler inputs than what I was already playing? Yeah, not too appealing. If the appeal's nostalgia based, though, I can totally see why people like it.

You just KNOW they're going to go with the whole 'historical parallels' French Revolution thing. I hope to god that isn't the case and the game actually goes somewhere INTERESTING like Tevinter or Rivain.

Basically, what Sindo said. There's far, far too much praise for WRPGs and far, far too much hate for JRPGs. There's good and bad in both, people! Also, newer gamers have the capacity to piss me off. Though I love a new influx of fans into the medium, when someone tells me CoD 4 is their favorite game of all time, I die a little inside. Also, I read something on RPS a while ago about how one of those guys was talking to a newer, but hardcore, gamer about Fallout 3. The newer gamer listed a whole bunch of things, explaining why he loved Fallout 3 so much, when the RPS guy realized the man was simply describing an RPG, and he truly didn't realize any games had done this sort of thing before. This has happened to me a few times before, and when someone says they love Fallout 3, and I refer them to another RPG, they can't get the idea out of their head that there's simply no other game in Fallout 3's genre. It's weird and unsettling to me that there are people in a medium I know so well and so thoroughly that don't even realize, and often refuse to realize, that there's an entire genre out there they haven't heard of or played. While new gamers could be good for the medium, their calling themselves 'hardcore gamers' when all they do is put hours and hours of playtime into Call of Duty and Gears of War (not that they aren't quality games) is just weird to me. I understand the medium is changing and gamers along with it, but some of these changes are strange and shaking. -

I've put quite a bit of time into this game. I'm... enjoying it, but Kirkwall as a setting just does not cut it for me. Also, I much, much preferred the companions in DA: O. I mean, Varric just all-around sucks, Isabela is juvenile and basically female Zevran, Merrill is annoying and when I talk to her I feel like I'm playing a low-budget JRPG. Anders is Anders, and I like the whole twist they put on him. The companion armor system is gimped as shit. I could go on, but I won't. The game's good and very pretty on Very High settings with the Hi-Res texture pack. The animations also have made an incredible jump in quality, but the story, writing, characters and (ugh) "streamlining" of the game make it good, not great.

Silent Hill movie is based on SH3? They better as fuck have some good casting for Claudia. They already kind of fucked up Heather. Also, what the fuck? Skipping SH2? Weird choice...

Hahaha your icon says it all. Basically, whichever one I play last I prefer. The main thing that puts SH3 ahead for me is Claudia and how weird and terrifying she is. Whenever I listen to Clockwork Little Happiness I have to turn it off at the end because it has that bit where Claudia's talking.
