I need to sit down with a wiki and Towns at some point. And yeah having ..demoe'd Leviathan on PC while it has a sort of "it's like Frozen Synapse with ships" there's some polish lacking that kept me from going beyond the tutorial.

It's set in some alternate world isn't it? It's fashioned after victorian London but in general it's set in a separate universe not timeline. I quite like the world they spin though, it's not massively bulked out, but it's fleshed enough and feels real enough.

Two things. 1. My courgette is starting to sprout. Need the greenhouse moored before we can put stuff in it though as it is a bit too light and blows over too easily (currently it's anchored by the bag of soil, but that'll get lighter as we put soil in pots) 2. Guardian Gardening blog did a bit about games: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/gardening-blog/2013/jun/06/computer-games-gardening?CMP=twt_gu

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-06-07/the-next-doctor-should-be-british-male-white-and-under-40-according-to-new-poll Turns out being like the previous 11 Doctors is an important factor for the twelfth. The raw data http://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/qhu1lbwvjl/YG-Archive-Dr-Who-results-040613.pdf Fun to see Doctor Who characteristics broken down by political affiliation. Lib Dems wanting someone unknown? UKIP thinking he should be a white british actor? Shocking!

I've heard the AI isn't anywhere near as good as shown in the E3 segment of last year. Which is disappointing but not unsurprising.

You do sound very merry about it. You do go a bit longer on the "merry" though than the others.

"Look mother, one is on the TV"
-
Here's me saying the three https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2066351/Random%20Files/Voice%20003.m4a I agree with them all being rather distinct words. Though I probably pronounce "merry" more like "murray" than it should be.

AARGH!!!! No they haven't!!!!

In the UK "poof/poofter" is a derogatory term for homosexuals.

Eh. It's mainly the hosting. If the AdSense came through it'd cover a fair chunk of the costs. Basically need more folks coming to the site, especially the blog. Which is it's own problems and such, I really need to knuckle down on. Kind of quite a few things going on IRL, hence stuff like only recently noticing the dwindling funds (and not making a PXOD post for a while)

Eh, physical media has been dying for a long time now, many people are happily consuming movies through Netflix, music from iTunes, books..sort of from Kindle. It's just the way MS are trying to carry this out that's the backlash. If you wish to purchase any game digitally then MS is both currently and in the future the only retailer selling digital games. With Xbox One this also becomes the only licensor of Xbox One games too. Nearly everywhere that sells Xbox games sells PC games too (Though that might not be the same in the US I guess), and then you've got all the digital store fronts on top of that (which as mentioned is at One with Xbox One). And until you can do even a tenth of the things a PC can do, heck even a tenth of a tablet, on an Xbox that vision will fail. Especially when apart from the games, most Smart TVs can replicate all the features and then some. Rare is the game sold on Steam that is not cracked, rare is the non cracked PC game in general. The hope is of course on the games being released from Steam DRM, but at the point that needs to be done I'm not sure they'd be in a position to do so. There was backlash against how Apple sells their stuff, hence DRM free music. Of course there's the whole app store stuff, but folks are shifting to Android in that dept, and even then most apps are a buck a pop, not $60+ a pop.

So, that NSA news eh? Basically NSA is said to be in cahoots with most ISPs and phone providers in the US to supply pretty much all the data they can get, regardless of warrants, innocence etc. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2013/06/confirmed-nsa-spying-millions-americans This also extends to them having their fingers in the servers of several internet companies too. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/us-tech-giants-nsa-data And to store all that data a new data center https://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2013/06/06/nsa-to-build-860-million-hpc-center-in-maryland/ Sounds fun.

I've seen a few comparisons with Steam, though it misses a few points; With Steam there's no requirement to be logged in every 24hrs to continue playing your games, you can just install your game and go Offline (as mentioned before now some games even let you play without opening Steam anyway). Steam isn't the sole seller of PC games. You can easily replace your Steam library with the aid of the Swedes should Steam ever close its doors. Eh, it's a PC at the end of the day, can do pretty much anything you want with it. Even plug in a Kinect if you want, and your TV channels.* Was thinking last night that the whole "one company to phone home to" as well as the implication of the re-activation powers of certain shop chains means in ~15years time all your Xbox One games will be useless. Already we have to live with the fact that XBLA and PSN purchases be it full games like ME3, smaller like Flower, or just random DLC and updates will be gone in about ~5yrs, now to live with the fact that even the disc based games will be dead without extensive work on breaking their DRM and/or attempting to emulate the console on PC. In other news, just to add to all the "things that make the Xbox One kind of sucky" That NSA news eh? *Which on a thought that popped in my head the other day: Freeview is built into 90% of TVs in the UK, so there's no separate box with a HDMI-Out to plug into the Xbone to let it control your TV channels. And I'm going to assume it won't be coming with a tuner built in. So yeah it's only be useful for those few on Sky HD and Virgin, about 20% of homes, but glod knows how many TVs (dunno on Virgin, but it's extra to get Sky on multiple TVs)

Domain; Pressxordie.com costs $10 a year Hosting; $10.95/month for 12 months = $131. or $119.40/year for 12months - $119.40 (And other options available beyond that up to paying 10yrs up front) Blog; Wordpress software = free Paying Wordpress for a domain = see above. Forum: IPS Community Suite (previously IP.Board) = $30/yr (paid in bi-annual payments, next is in August) Can add to this: IP.Chat 20 user = $40/yr (5 user included for free) IP.Gallery = $70/yr (I'm not sure on this one, it might be $35/yr which seems more reasonable, but as I've previously paid for it, it's not listed withe rest of things able to purchase) IP.Blog = $50 with $20/yr (And others, but they're pointless) Using Mastercard = Priceless (Oh we also currently have £42.95 on AdSense account too, but that doesn't get released until it hits £60. Which'd obviously help pay for quite a bit, so even if you're not up for donating whitelisting the sites would be swell. It's not obnoxious or anything, just a small square advert on the sidebar of forum and blog. I hate obnoxious adverts so aimed to be as least obnoxious as possible.)

Draws too many alien and monster attacks.

In First Class Magneto is directly responsible for crippling him, and minutes before that kills a man despite Xaviers wishes, and then also nicks his adoptive sister too (though Xavier was partly to blame on that), and to top it off they'd only known each other over a week. So despite comic lore, and established relationship in the earlier films, First Class has an ending where technically none of that should pass.
-
Little from column A, little from column B. Given the ending of First Class though there should generally be neither. (Though I should note other than a few niggles here n there, I do rather enjoy it. Top X-Men film alongside X-Men 1)
-
It wrapped things up very fast. Xavier and Magnus knew each other for just under two weeks, yet they'd become very close friends in that time span that both get along well enough decades later despite their philosophical differences. It'll be hard to just wash away all the rather valid resentment Xavier should have of magneto.

Yeah I understood the "it gets tied to your account" bit. It's the whole "cloud" bit that gets fuzzy. Cloud gaming is along lines of Gaikai n Onlive, but seems they're mainly using it as a buzzword for "you can download them" Or in a more practical sense "it works kinda like Steam". They seem to be needlessly muddying and already confused and befuddled launch. Still can't work out if it's by accident or on purpose.
-
Yeah I think they've already said ahead of time that stores will be able to "relicense/reactivate" games. Of course that means you then need to be like some affiliate retailer, and thus no carboot sales, or small time stores, charity shops etc able to sell used Xbox One games. And I can't see stores being able to reactivate forever, so as time passes even big chains like Gamestop and GAME aren't going to be places to get Xbox One games. It'll be a totally lost generation to the future. I honestly have no idea how this is meant to all work out, and I don't think MS do either. I think they're just going to give it a shot, and if/when it fucks up, well RROD fucked up and they still sold well so they'll still do fine out of it likely.

Okay thrown up a bit on the front page. I've no idea what words FDS is using. Bitcoin?

I assume the specific link you're pointing folks to is http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/license Which is a fun and confusing read. And yeah it's pretty messed up. It says your games are both on your console and in the cloud, but is that just their buzzword way of saying "you can download the game from our servers, just like you can with 360" or is the game actually playable in the cloud, like how PS4 is looking to work? Also 10 "family members" across multiple consoles is pretty generous, PS3 was pretty cool with 5 log-ins (though I think they knocked it to two now). I can't see 10 lasting that long, or not without needing Gold or something. The trade-in thing is still pretty fucked up. And I'm still unsure how it works with rental companies, I don't trade games much (do buy used though), but I rent quite a bit. Though obviously as I'd be getting a PS4 if anything the Xbone policies won't be affecting me @FDS: Had three weeks without internet when I moved in here, and it's patchy now n then. No internet is 100%, and it doesn't even just matter what our net is like but relies on MS having a consistent uptime too. XBL, PSN, Steam all have scheduled and unscheduled downtime, it'd suck if you're not able to play any of your new games for the week of Xmas.

It's $10.95 a month (I'd have prefered to throw a yearly lump sum, that did come with a discount but fell a bit short when the time came). The Domain is $10/year, and the forum itself is $15/6months. (Of which chat used to add an extra $20/6months on to that). I wouldn't know of any simple visual way of letting folks know, donation trackers, what not. Tbh just allowing people to donate is a PITA through Paypal, I've got to do a site search to find it (because otherwise it's wanting me to set up business accounts n what now). And it's only recently (aka this months payment) that when making it a payment is has displayed current balance, hence my sudden "oh wow that is lower than I thought it'd be". I've never really been one for liking dealing with money, I hate having to even post in this thread, I'd much prefer to be able to still shoulder the full cost myself but not exactly a position I'm in atm. Hence me never ebign "transparent" with costs (and that you're the first person to ever ask). (Well apart from thread in Mod section I use for keeping track of ins and outs)
