  1. We don't use ratings at all Anyway here's an article I think I popped up here the other day, or twitter at least: http://www.split-screen.net/features/metacritique-ratings-the-inner-circle Very good read into the whole metacritic stuff.
  2. It jsut kinda rotated into my playlist and I was tapping to the beat. Thought I'd share. Oh and cos they're always pretty good and always a reason to not correct someone on your Serbian origins:
  3. This technically doesn't belong here since EVE isn't Free2Play, this is just DLC. Also we don't have an EVE thread and we really should.
  4. MAG - which has been pretty fun Far Cry 2 - Trying to find the good elements in it. There's many but they're so weighed down by the bad shit. Alpha Centauri - My little netbook game, so not so much. Playing as the University guys. Forgot how good this game was, they really need a new one. Shame EA own the rights.
  5. Watch PXOD tomorrow afternoon(EU)/morning (US), especially you Saturnine. Unless I'm confused on what games you play.

    Nerd War!

    I did this.
  7. Now this looks interesting, photos that can be focused after they've been taken: http://techcrunch.com/2011/06/21/lytro-launches-to-transform-photography-with-50m-in-venture-funds-tctv/ There was a concept, and that's all it was, on this by Samsung(I think) on this about a year or so ago. It was their "what photos will do in the future". Also said we'd take like 50megapixel videos that we could then pull still photos from. That bit isn't here yet. (The RED cameras kinda do it I guess)
  8. I'll post a tad more in-depth later but: http://www.interpretllc.com/new-media-measure-interpretations.php?rid=57 And summary of said report: http://www.industrygamers.com/news/women-remain-the-ignored-audience-in-gaming/
  9. Dammit I was going to make a list like that but then I thought it might be a bit anal.
  10. So it currently seems to be a tie between Champions Online, Spiral Knights and Dungeons and Dragons Online. So I'm going to stick up a second poll for those. We currently have people on all three. Cyber on Champions Online and a couple others with Dungeons n Dragons and Spiral Knights I think picked up a few with the Steam F2P launch. So we'll see what the poll comes out like, though I think I may have an inkling. And given the way Spirals Knights is structured I don't think that would be on it's own.

    Kinect

FTFY. Wiimote n Move have Nunchucks which eliminate the problem. Lack of navigation has been, and will continue to be, a major thorn in Kinects side for gaming applications. As I was not long ago saying in Steam chat: It's like Activision trying to force all their games to use the Guitar Hero controller. It's a very specialised controller and does a very specific gaming task very well. But it fucks up on everything else. Only difference is Activision weren't betting a lot of money on the Guitar Hero controller but the games and stores instead.

    Gaikai

    http://venturebeat.com/2011/06/21/gaikai-scores-a-whopper-of-a-game-distribution-deal-with-walmart-com-exclusive/ So I think that's quite a win.
  15. Quick question but EA do have a PR dept right? To make sure you don't disallow a common Chinese surname or mail bits of meat or knuckle dusters out or stage fake protests etc?
  16. Just a heads up but not allowing Wang, which Wikipedia points out is "one of the most common surname in the world", is maybe not a good idea for PR. Just in case any EA employees are looking. Bit of a faux pas regardless of what slang it can be. Johnson is slang for penis too and I doubt that's banned.
  17. So if I'm reading this right, let's use Portal as an example. The micromechanics are for example the portal travel, weighted cubes, lasers, gels. The macromechanics are how the elements are built up over time or how different micromechanics interact to make a complete level? If the micromechanics are off you'd generally struggle to get through a game, if they work well and mesh together well then you'll find that you'll end up sitting down to play and finding out it's the week after. The macromechanics don't mesh too well then it can struggle to notice until it's too late, what it would result in is an unsatisfying game, generally regardless of how well the micromechanics work you'd find the game forgetful. Good macromechanics don't have much of an effect unless the micromechanics are up to snuff too. The micromechanics are the engine of the car. If they're bust up the engine won't run regardless. The machromechancis are the car itself. Sure with a working engine it'll get you from a to be, but not a very memorable ride. But a good game is an Aston Martin through Scotland. Most are a Ford Focus to the supermarket.
  18. Given that Sony has a bit of a record now with cross-platform play n online experimentation, I'd wager they'd be totally cool with the idea. And since I imagine that MP titles tend to get bought on 360 for the perceived quality of the service so I think it would work out better for Sony if people could buy their games on PS3 to play with friends on 360.
  19. HAHA. So it is. Damn he has range. Hadn't noticed him at all. He's really quite excitable and expressive with his face as Walter compared to when he played Denethor.

    2. WTF

      WTF

Well basically it was just file1 of their dump from various sites and you could've easily ctrlF-ed on them to see if any of your emails were on it :)

      CorgiShinobi

I'm safe, but I find this entire thing to be asinine. There will never be perfect security, just bad and decent. It's all a factor of time, and hacking various websites is simply malicious.

  21. What faction? I've got a char with SVER. Valor. Kind of a bum deal you need to buy the other character slots.
  22. I've been playing MAG. Pretty damn enjoyable. It might do with a few more maps mind. Other than that it's standard shooty fare. It might be nice to access "Gadgets" easier, since those tend to be things that save your life like grenades, RPGs n healthkits.
  23. Demigod is £6. Which given Sins Trinity is same price, not so much worth it.
  24. No, Far Cry 1 is Crytek, Far Cry 2 n 3 and every other spin-off that isn't Far Cry 1 is made by Ubisoft. Far Cry 1 is CryEngine 1, Far Cry 2 is Dunia engine and Far Cry 3 I think is maybe Dunia 2 Basically Crytek made Far Cry 1. Ubisoft made everything else. The spin-offs make sense, but Far Cry 2 n 3 have very little if anything at all in relation to the original Far Cry game and should technically be their own franchise. But as X-com taught us: On the few occasions the industry makes a new franchise, they don't always give it a new name to match.
  25. I was like "Barry Humphries? Isn't that...". Also Cumberbatch is Smaug. Woot.
