  2. the video doesn't have this one from the buzzfeed page and the water one is longer in the gif and pretty cool edit: here's the article.
  3. @Atomsk88: Thanks for posting that it looks good.
  4. I'm finding New Super Mario Bros. U harder than I was expecting. I've only just made it to the second world. I've never struggled in the first world before and have usually built up a useful bank of lives.
  5. I've been playing Little Inferno. I finished it in two sittings so it's short and since it's like alchemy/doodle god I don't think I'd enjoy replaying it any time soon even though you can change the ending slightly by keeping hold of different items. I enjoyed it but it was massively over-priced so I'm glad Nintendo allows sales on Wii U as I'd have been pretty miffed if I'd paid full price. I think I paid about £8, which is definitely too much still. It really does feel like an app game, and buying it on a console I'd think £5 max would be OK. One thing I did like though is that I played it on pad while I was watching a film so it's definitely a feature I'm going to enjoy and use as I'd not have been playing otherwise.
  6. Is this true? "The last time a Republican was elected president without a Nixon or Bush on the ticket was 1928." I didn't know there were more than one Nixon or two Bushes. Or does it just mean there have mostly been democrat presidents.
  7. I'm just glad it wasn't shooting. If I find out there is a load of shooting to be done in the game my interest will plummet.
  8. Fine Dean. Your personal use of the service must mean the world's largest online retailer is completely wrong in their strategy. You should probably warn them, I imagine they would be very grateful to be shown where they're going so wrong.
  9. we've had a few acer laptops, and they've all seemed to be quite poor build quality, quite creaky and the hinges have gone on all of them. One to the point where the whole screen split.
  10. scared to snip out some bits to reply to, so I'll try and do them in order. I'm guessing their inbuilt monetisation plan is the millions of other digital products they have for sale. also information on customers is worth a lot of money to them, e.g. they now know you like soundtracks, video games, final fantasy etc. so they may target their advertising to you to reflect this. My point had nothing to do with you buying physical stuff from their main site - my point was they've got you in to their digital ecosytem with their free offers and £1 voucher.Which you otherwise wouldn't have and like I said I'm sure they're not expecting a !00% conversion rate, but just because you haven't paid for anything that doesn't mean no one has. I don't even get what you're trying to argue about at this point? Free offers definitely work it's a use of advertising spending at least as effective as an actual advert, which is why most retail businesses use them, especially as in the case of amazon they are trying to increase awareness or market share.
  11. what brands would you recommend LP looks for?
  12. I'm sure they're not expecting a 100% conversion rate to paying customers but it definitely does work. say you now want to buy an album, if you see it for the same price on amazon and a site you hadn't used before (e.g. 7digital) then you are most likely to choose to buy it from Amazon as you're already set up to buy from there now you've had your free download. Also, there are plenty of people who are not keen at all to buy digital anything, so giving them a free go at it so they can see it is not too scary may mean they are willing to pay money in the future, also there are a lot of (maybe older) people that are given a tablet for christmas, who are not computer savvy, so having an offer like that may make them aware of something they didn't even know existed before. Also, for all your complaining about it, you have their app store installed and are using it for a decent while if I think about it, and have used this offer also. So already they've moved you from being just an app store user to an app store and mp3 user so they are giving you a guided tour of their digital world and you are taking it. Maybe that is worth a digital pound to them.
  13. Just a heads up, there is now a ZombiU demo in the eShop for anyone wanting to give it a try. It's 1649mb and seems to be downloading at a reasonable speed, giving an estimate of under 30 mins, I think that's as fast as I'd get anything on my laptop.
  14. don't use the music app, use the Amazon mp3 downloader to download the drm-free mp3 file, which you can then drag and drop on to your phone. I've set it up to do that automatically as I download music from them on a semi regular basis.
  15. of course he doesn't come up with a reasonable solution though.
  16. Amazon lets you download a DRM-free MP3 which you can copy to your phone, or is it your phone that won't let you copy music to it?
  17. is the drop in resolution noticeable noticeable on the passive 3D? At home, not in the cinema. That's the only thing that puts me off passive 3D.
  18. not purchased yet, but will be buying one today/tomorrow if all you lovely people help me decide!
  19. anyone seen lilyhammer? I've got it recordedbut can't seem to muster the enthusiasm to watch it

Recorded? I thought it was a Netflix exclusive show?

      TheFlyingGerbil

It was on a terrestrial BBC channel in the UK. Netflix is not nearly such a big thing in the UK.

I saw 2-3 episodes. I quite enjoyed what I watched.

Love the main guy...forgot his name.

  20. she flat out denied she has anything to do with the 50th anniversary hoopla when she was on the Graham Norton show on Friday. Of course that could just be to make it a surprise but she seemed genuine.
