  1. Raisins and sultanas are both from white grapes - sultanas are less dried out so lighter in colour, softer and juicier. Currants are from red grapes and are the driest of the three being smaller and quite hard. That's all in the UK.
  2. Even though I've completed all the previous games, I found this recap of the story so far super handy. Obviously If you haven't played any of the previous games this is about as spoilerific as you can get.
  3. can you pay with an amazon gift card, then it wouldn't need to contact your bank at all? Edit: Bought The new professor layton game today. Still haven't played the fourth one yet, so I will play that first, then the fifth and then go back and play london life, I think. Just need to get through ghost trick first which I'm not as gripped by as I hoped I would be, not that I'm not enjoying it.

    Apple

If I ever felt the desire to cheer on a multinational mega-corporation, it would be Samsung, and it would be now. Apple annoys me in a way any amount of gaming fanboyism doesn't even come close.
  5. Is the world's view of your candidates an issue that's addressed at all in the US? Did it register how embarrassing Bush was to your country? He definitely had a negative impact on how the world saw America(ns) which I think Obama has done a lot to redress.
  6. In the UK, there was something in the news this last week about mainstream chocolate (e.g., kit kats and the like rather than 'posh' chocolates) with fairtrade labels plastered all over them. They're designed for people to think the chocolate is fairtrade, but are using something called the mass balance system, which means if a large company buys 90% normal cocoa beans, and 10% fairtrade, mix them all together, they can label 10% of their products as fairtrade even though the particular product they label as fairtrade will have hardly any fairtrade chocolate in it and indeed no more than the other 90% of the products they cannot label fairtrade. That makes it pretty hard for people to make an informed decision so I'd guess that is an example of UK greenwashing.
  7. I think that's very common for shops because so many of them are called [names]'s. An awful lot of people call Tesco Tesco's and J Sainsbury just gave up in the end and is now called Sainsbury's.
  8. Went to bingo for the first time tonight for a friend's birthday. And won £250!

      Bingo rocks!

Of course, I'm old, so prunes also rock.

  9. The amount of games that never make it past the shores of Japan would inspire me to learn Japanese if I wasn't so lazy. I wish I didn't even know about this because as it stands it just puts me off getting the DS version as I assume the mobile versions will be cheaper, and I know DS games can look pretty dreadful upscaled on my 3DS XL.
  10. well, since this got derailed on the first reply (a record surely, even for us). LOOL
  11. Is it public? I cant' access it.
  12. I'll believe that when I can get my grubby mitts on it. I think I've given up hope of them appearing.
  13. Here's an OMOCAT GIF of the steps in one of her(?) drawings. I thought it was interesting:
  14. Surely the objective quality of a film is secondary to someone's subjective enjoyment of it. There's no point in a film being technically good if you don't enjoy it,
  15. I wonder if that will be explained in the game because it makes no sense to me. Does it mean anyone could plug in to the animus and play as her? It also doesn't seem to rule out any modern elements, e.g. it could give a bit of the templars perspective instead of just the assassins'. Also, if it's made by abstergo wouldn't they just make Aveline completely evil/stupid. edit: I hope none of this is explained in that trailer as I'm trying not to watch them so apologies in advance if it is.
  16. I bought the eBook bundle. Adding in the Comic Anthologies is what clinched it.
  17. It's got an unusual eye colour; very dark. Kind of makes me feel uncomfortable.
  18. I think any violence perpetrated by a group of religious people reflects more on the people than on the religion. I do though think that religion can push people to acts that they may not have committed otherwise; the problem stemming from the fact most things in most religious texts are so open to interpretation, not to mention the fact that they were all written when violence was the solution to everything. Basically, there is just far too much text in religious texts I think this is the problem more than the tenets of the religion itself. Anyway, what Ii actually came in here to post:
  19. There are a few 1080p games, e.g Black Ops 2, Nano Assault, I meant specifically Nintendo developed specifically, e.g Pikmin, NSMB U.
  20. I'm sure I read somewhere non of nintendo's launch window games are 1080p
  21. Gutted Rayman Origins is postponed until next year as I'd pre-ordered it as a launch title for £20. Still, I'll keep in mind Miyamoto's quote: "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." but that means I'll have to rethink my pre-order again.
  22. hopefully the new release of it will make its way over to these shores so I can buy a new copy. I'll definitely keep my eye out for it.
  23. 12 and a half stones. One stone is 14lbs, so it's 175lb. His goal weight is 140 to 154 pounds.
  24. Don't worry, you are special Bit of a coincidence, this popped up in my RSS feed today:
