  1. I'm sure we've bought up pasties before, but I don't remember anyone mentioning the US term, "hand pies". That's really cute.
  2. Yay we're on a new page so don't have to see my bartender joke. You remember, the "two what" joke that drove everyone mad thinking about it. That one. Just one the last page, a riddle waiting to be solved. Anyway, this one is simpler.
  3. Just from trying different options straight away a lot of the decisions don't make any difference. The first response after changes and then the rest up to the next decision are the same so I wouldn't get your hopes up for a radically different outcome.
  4. it would be useful if they had a countdown to release timer next to it so it was more obvious how close the embargo was to release, but it's interesting to hear the positive side of embargoes, as I've only ever hear negative reasons for them. Can anyone here think of any good games that had severe embargoes.
  5. I have a tea question for any of you that are a bit knowledgeable. How much difference to taste will these leaf sizes make? Obviously the bigger leaves are dearer, and I'm not sure I'd appreciate the difference if it's subtle
  6. I didn't recognise quite a bit of that, but it all sounded good. The conductor was milking it for all it was worth at the end there, lol
  7. According to Americans, Glaswegian is the sexiest uk accent, followed by cockney. Geordie was seen as the most intelligent. This is not how the survey would pan out if carried out over here. In the opposite direction Brits* found New Yorkers to have the sexiest accent, Chicagoans the least. *hate that term, as I can't help but associate it with vaguely racist red top headlines.
  8. China has topped a list of the world's biggest markets for video games, beating America into second place. The worldwide games industry accounts for £59bn in revenue, with £53bn of that - roughly 90 per cent - coming from the top 20 countries. 1 China £14.4bn 2 US £14.2bn 3 Japan £7.9bn 4 South Korea £2.6bn 5 Germany £2.3bn 6 UK £2.2bn 7 France £1.5bn 8 Canada £1.1bn 9 Spain £1bn 10 Italy £0.9bn 11 Brazil £0.9bn 12 Russia £0.8bn 13 Mexico £0.7bn 14 Australia £0.7bn 15 Taiwan £0.4bn 16 Turkey £0.3bn 17 Netherlands £0.3bn 18 India £0.2bn 19 Poland £0.2bn 20 Switzerland £0.2bn Not sure what I excepted from this list but I'm guessing how China spends that money is very different than the rest of the list. Would be interesting to see how each country splits that money between mobile, online subscriptions, boxed retail and digital console/pc downloads etc. What I do wonder is if Japan's market was ever bigger than usa's as people are always going on about its decline - is that from an export point of view or domestic sales. Since USA has nearly 3x the population but less than 2x the spend then proportionally Japanese still spend significantly more on vgs. Also, I know Germany is a larger country than uk (80m vs 64m) but I still kind of expected us to spend more, I just don't really imagine Europeans being that into video games.
  9. Looks interesting and definitely not at all like Shadow of the Colossus. Even that big chain was used in the team Ico third project Teaser. . Hopefully as we hear more about it it will show something more though the website doesn't fill me with confidence We can but hope. Also not sure if it's the bit with the wolves but there's a bit of the new tomb raider about it. Mind you, even if it is a rip off doesn't mean it won't be good.
  10. Ooh. I haven't killed him at all yet... Nice to know that's looming over my choices. That will definitely help with my dislike of making decisions.
  11. I bought this after you posted about it and have been playing it, and it' smacking me feel like I wouldn't cope very well with a telltale game.
  12. Most watched programme of the year so far I think - 14m people. It's exactly what you'd expect from daily mail. I hated it when it first blew up on the Internet and people in the usaa thought it was a respectable British paper. Glad it's become abundantly clear to everyone that it is a steaming pile.
  13. So that would make a total of one reasons?
  14. I guess none of you watch The Great British Bake Off, but it was the final today and I got a bit teary at the end of it. Was pretty surprised to see Mary Berry holding back a tear too. She knows they've changed a deserving person's life which may sound strange to say about a baking competition, but is absolutely true.
  15. yeah, as I was looking through them for the names, I noted they all had some sort of twist but still vague theme in the same way we had WWII shooters for a bit, and sci fi shooters. They do all look different enough that you could be interested in all of them not just choose one of the lot.
  16. it's weird there are so many early man games at on the horizon. There's this, WiLD, ARK: survival evolved, Primal Carnage has dinosaurs but modern weapons. Probably more that im not aware of too. Anyway, this does look interesting. It would be nice if it wasn't just focused on killing animal/other tribes.
  17. There are three basic shower types here. an electric shower is a small unit (about a foot tall and a few inches deep) that sits on the wall in your shower. cold water pipe goes in, hose and showerhead comes out. A heating element inside heats the water, usually have a temperature dial and a power dial which would have off, cold and two levels of hot power. a mixer shower has hot and cold water pipes from your heating system a mixer tap for temp adjustment, and the shower head. they're the most basic. a power shower is basically a mixer shower with a pump to increase flow rate. Because the last two systems use your hot water they're not good if you have a small hot water tank as after one person has a shower there's no hot water left. A lot of older houses have these hot water systems, as decent combi boilers (that heat water on demand rather than heating it and keeping it in a tank are relatively new here) hence the popularity of the electric shower.
  18. How do American home bathroom lights work? We have pull cords because it's dangerous to use wet hands on a switch. Do you have a normal switch but outside the room? Staying in the bathroom it seems we are the only country that still has separate hot and cold taps, and it is incredibly annoying. I don't understand why he thinks our coins don't make sense? Is it because they don't increase in size along with value? Do yours? I don't think many people here call chips french fries outside of McDonalds. That's because french fries are specifically the thin cut type which is not what you're served in most places. What's complicated about shower, or simple about yours. Maybe you're more likely to see an electric shower here as opposed to a power shower? What's this about? "It’s not unusual to see people dressed different and speaking different languages". Do you assume everyone here is white? I didn't know french beer had a bad reputation. I've never heard anyone say cheers as a greeting, only as a toast and an informal synonym for "thanks" He has a much higher opinion of our train service than any british person does. I would guess not many people use ice at home except if they're throwing a party, but whenever I go out most drinks except beer, wine and have ice, please tell me you don't put ice in beer and wine, that's weird.
  19. has that loaded? The address was weird This next one isn't a joke, but it is terrible. this is just one more item in a long list of things not to like about morrisey
  20. I finally bought Majora's Mask for 3DS. After missing the £19.99 offer I saw and royally pissing myself off as it was my fault I missed it I finally found an offer that was complicated but good. Was almost tempted to buy a New 3DS XL to go with it but I have a feeling 3DS is not long for this world and do not want to hear about it's successor hot on the heals of me buying it.
  21. two more names for the cast confirmed: Jeremy Irons, for all your intra-familial marriage needs and Brendon Gleeson. I think Gleeson is more of a pointer toward the positive, but Irons is sort of still a big name.
  22. I guess most scales can't weigh out something as small as half a teaspoon of spice more accurately than an actual spoon.
  23. Urgh. I forgot about that. The worst is 'one pack of oreos'. I mean even in the UK they sell those in multiple pack sizes and you know they're going to be different (smaller) to the US sizes. Nearly as bad as measuring biscuits in cups. How the heck do you measure biscuits in cups, if you flat out refuse to use weights just put 10 biscuits or whatever it is. Edit: just wondering, do packs in the us have cup sizes on them? Ours are all in grams so if recipe says 2 cups of chocolate or 2 cups of blueberries how do you know how much to buy?
