  1. About god damn time they put the update on android.
  2. The new season of Bojack Horseman premiered on Netflix today. I've binged through about half of it and it's way better than the first season so far, and I'm saying this as someone who liked the first season. Since the show is already established and the writers are no longer trying to trick you into thinking it's an average sitcom with the first few episodes, they can bring their A-game right from the start. It's funny, clever, and even profound at times. Edit: Finished season 2. I really loved the ending. Man, this show gets deep.
  3. I actually was a Bungie fan back in their Halo days and I still regret Destiny more than any other PS4 game. I wish I could go back in time and unspend that money. Hell, I'd be happy if I could even trade in the game but my dumb ass bought it digitally.
  4. I fully expect Batman v Superman to be a complete train wreck that makes a ton of money.
  5. Oh god, that's the worst looking Joker I've seen since the one with the dreadlocks. I was willing to think "Hey, maybe it won't look so shitty in the actual movie" but NOPE. I know the Joker has lots of interpretations, but this just plain does not look like Joker to me. He looks like...Okay, do you guys remember Batman Beyond? Remember that biker gang called the Jokerz where a bunch of teenage brats dressed up in clown makeup to do petty crimes and Terry would take them out in one punch? Yeeeeeah.
  6. No, you really don't have to take "the whole of literary history" into account when you're trying to write a story. In fact, that should be the furthest thing from your mind. Your one and only concern should be trying to write a good story with good characters, and if the story you want to write requires something bad to happen to a female character at some point, the last thing you should do is censor yourself because you're afraid of offending people. Joker's actions are SUPPOSED to be shocking. The whole story hinges on the fact that he crossed a line. Of course it's dehumanizing. This is the Joker we're talking about here. He's a monster. You can say that what he did was horrifying or that it has no place in print (though I would strongly disagree with that last part), but what you definitely can't say is that it's out of character for him. If you can't stomach seeing him at his worst, then I suppose Killing Joke just isn't a story for you, but I believe that you can't truly see the good guys at their best until they have been put through the bad guys at their worst. Jim didn't break. Bruce didn't break. Barbara didn't break. I do admit that we don't actually see Barbara's aftermath until a different book later on, but I get the feeling Timm's version will include that part. Just because he's adapting the Killing Joke specifically doesn't mean he can't pull material from other books to round the movie out a bit. Now, I do agree that the damsel in distress/women in refrigerators trope can be done lazily and be poorly written, but I don't think that's the case here and I certainly don't think female characters should be placed under glass, shielded from the same harm that visits the male characters. If female characters, especially superheroes, are to be taken seriously than they have to be taking the same risks that their male counterparts are taking. That's not so much an argument against Thursday's point as it is against the people who cry "misogyny" every time a female character is hurt or killed. Speaking of which, Mr. GOH... Misogyny means hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women. Show me a single page in that book that implies Alan Moore hates, dislikes, or distrusts women. If you absolutely must use a label, then saying it's sexist would be closer to what you probably meant. I would disagree, but at least that argument would make sense. Putting that aside, I think you misinterpreted the "Joker's backstory" part of the book. Even within the context of the book itself, the Red Hood story isn't meant to be taken as Joker's origin, but as a possible origin. He thinks about it as he looks in the mirror, but later on even he admits to Batman "Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another. If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!" Even he doesn't remember what exactly made him the way he is, but what he is convinced of is that something happened to crush his spirit because the world is a cruel, awful, pointless place.

Such a shame. He had a sense of humor, a connection with fans, and a love of games that made him a great, well-respected man.

He contributed a lot to the games industry, and had a real passion for doing just that. RIP

  8. I'm pretty sure most people probably know what happens in the Killing Joke by now but just in case I'll put it in spoilers.
  9. Bruce Timm, the god of the DC Animated Universe, has announced that he's going to direct an adaptation of Alan Moore's The Killing Joke. Predictably, certain groups are already up in arms. These people can all suck my ass. Killing Joke is one of the finest Batman stories ever written and I have been wanting to see it animated for years. I cannot wait for this to come out, especially since Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill have both expressed interest in being involved.

  11. I didn't really have a problem with that part outside of how corny it was.
  12. Hold up, Chris Pratt was in Black Hawk Down?
  13. The Red Hood DLC isn't much, but playing as him is surprisingly fun and I want more of him so I hope he gets a proper DLC episode in the season pass.
  14. I can only assume they're setting up a sequel where THE DINOSAURS WERE BRED TO BE WEAPONS BUT THEY LOST CONTROL or some dumb shit like that.
  15. It was fine when Frankenstein did it because A) it was a new idea at the time and B) Frankenstein's primary motivation was science, not money. Not only that, but as soon as he realized that his experiment was a threat to people he became absolutely hellbent on killing it. Of course, he's not the best example because if he had accepted the monster from the beginning then it probably never would have turned violent, but I digress. It just bugs the crap out of me how rich people in movies use money as an excuse to make the most boneheaded decisions imaginable. There comes a point where you just have to cut your losses and pull the plug before things spiral out of control.
  16. Yes, going down into the paddock without checking the GPS tag first was kind of reckless on Owen's part, but I'm willing to forgive him for this mistake because... I admit that pretty much every death in the movie wouldn't have happened if Owen had taken that one extra level of precaution, but he didn't know anything about the I-rex when they brought him in other than that it was artificially made. I'm even willing to forgive that fat security guard for opening the door because hell, it was the nearest exit. What I can't forgive, however...
  17. Jurassic World just reminded me of a cliche I really despise in action and horror movies about an artificially made monster: Expert: "The specimen is loose! We have to terminate it!" Dumb executive: "No! We've put too much money into it! Take it alive!" "It just killed a bunch of people! We have to give up on capturing it and take it down before anyone else dies!" "Money money money! Shareholders! Too big of an investment! Oh no! Now it's killing me! Only now do I see the folly of my hubris!" "If only we had respected nature!"
  18. I just saw "Everyone is a Retard Except Chris Pratt." Sorry, I mean Jurassic World. It was better than JP3 but man it had a hell of a lot of cliches, which made it super predictable. If they plan to keep making these Jurassic Park sequels they gotta figure out a way to make the dinosaurs a threat that doesn't require everyone to act like idiots with no survival instinct.
  19. Dragon Ball Super has premiered! It's in Japanese of course but I imagine it will be translated in a matter of days at most.
  20. You can see the incomplete Knightfall after doing 10 of the side missions to completion. Seeing the whole thing requires all 14 side missions.
  21. i got the 100% ending.
  22. The winning team gets more shells, a max of 24 versus the losing team's 18.
