  1. Hey, don't blame me. I offered to be the guy but I never got a message from you.
  2. The game itself might be solid enough, but I was hoping for more originality. As it currently stands, I really, really wish I could be hyped for this game but I just can't.
  3. I'm not even on the secret santa list this year (too many people to buy for already this year) and Saturnine got me the Tropico 4 bundle anyway. Sat, you're a standup guy and don't let anyone ever tell you any different.
  4. WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE TO SQUIRREL GIRL?!
  5. Got the Platinum trophy for Wolfenstein! The Uber difficulty was challenging but fair, which is a nice change of pace from all the hard modes that want to punish you sadistically just for the sake of being hardcore.
  6. Paul Giamatti, what are you doing. You're a good actor, stop picking shitty movies.
  7. People who can't handle being told they're wrong shouldn't be posting on a forum in the first place.
  8. http://thefreethoughtproject.com/breaking-congress-secretly-okd-nsa-spying-domestic-criminal-cases-focused-torture/ Jesus Fuck. If this actually gets signed into law it will have some very grim implications about the future of this country.
  9. I'd say depending on who you ask the goals are one and the same, maybe not in relation to the Target thing on its own but in the bigger picture, where all of a sudden Rockstar is being taken to task for their "problematic" depictions of certain demographics. http://www.polygon.com/2014/12/10/7364823/gta-5s-vicious-misogyny-ought-to-be-addressed-not-ignored They might not want to censor Rockstar legally, but they definitely want Rockstar to censor themselves, and I say fuck that. Grand Theft Auto can (and should) be as irreverent, shocking, and yes, even as offensive as it wants to be, and I completely reject the notion that "if you don't like it, don't buy it" isn't a legitimate standpoint. I think by now people on here have probably figured out that I despise social justice warriors with the kind of fire that can cause solar systems to go supernova, but I would never try to stop them from making a game based around their agenda or tell them what they could or couldn't put in said game. I would, however, choose not to buy it.
  10. It's not? Literally everything I've seen about this agrees it's bad (other than the people doing it, but the same thing could be said back when Jack Thompson was doing it). Maybe we're just hearing from different people because I've seen a bunch of outlets and personalities who were vehemently anti-Thompson back in the day making excuses for the recall. Then again, I'm drifting into Kotaku and Polygon territory now and those sites have been shit for years.
  11. I'm not saying exploration is a bad thing or that it's uninteresting, but exploring for the sake of exploration isn't going to hold a game up in the long term. There has to be some kind of goal or something to do for it to keep being fun. If the game has no goal, then it should encourage sandbox play by providing you with building or customization tools. Minecraft is totally not my thing, but I absolutely understand why others enjoy it. However, unless there's some secret gameplay element we haven't heard about yet, No Man's Sky is not a sandbox. Sandboxes have sand in them. No Man's Sky is more like...a museum. You can look but you can't touch, and while that's fine for a brief visit, there's not much reason to keep coming back once you've seen everything, and I promise you that repetition will set in sooner rather than later. This is just my personal opinion, but I'd take 10 static, thoughtfully designed planets over a billion randomly generated ones.
  12. Oh the first person mode was received just fine by the GTA fans. It's the critics who take issue with it because the first person mode suddenly turns the game into a murder simulator. Boy, where have we heard that before? By the way, it's just the prostitutes that these people are getting their panties in a knot about, prostitutes whom you are never once required by the game to kill in the first place. And if you're going to get mad about that, you might as well get mad about killing homeless people or minorities too because ultimately the game treats all the NPCs the same way. They're just people walking around and you can choose to ignore them or murderdeathkill them.
  13. What in God's name is happening with GTA recently? The first version of GTA V came out without any real fuss or controversy, but then when they add a first person mode everyone gets pissed again? Not only that, but social justice retards are trying (and succeeding!) to get the game pulled from various store outlets because of the prostitutes. Didn't we all agree this shit was stupid back when Jack Thompson was doing it? Why is it suddenly a good thing? I mean what the fuck?
  14. You seem to have a "buying things right before they go on sale for cheap" problem.
  15. I'm just as confused as you are, man. I think people are hearing "billions of worlds" and getting all excited without stopping to think of what that really means. Oooh, the dinosaurs on this planet are red! The ones on the last planet were yellow! How exciting!
  16. Can Playstation avatars be a thing again? I was hoping to find a Persona one since I'm tired of Joel as my icon but they don't seem to exist.

ah. well yeah. I guess that Sony thought that most folks would use profile pics and ask for real name to friends so they could see that instead

Pssh, real names. I like you guys but I don't like you THAT much.

My Avatar option list is pretty massive. Maybe that's only because I chose it from PS3?

  17. Oh thank god, they finally patched the PS4 controller disconnecting problem for Binding of Isaac. I can finally play again!

  18. All the Adventure Time games are shit and they really shouldn't be. Help me, Telltale Games, you're my only hope.
  19. The finale of season 2 is pretty important, though, seeing that it's the introduction of the Lich. New viewers should at least watch that. Also, which season was Holly Jolly Secrets?
  20. Yeah the presentation is great. In fact, I rarely say this but I think the game could potentially make a great thriller/action movie. I dig the whole "what if the nazis won because they had robots?" concept. I can't think of many films that do the super nazi angle.
  21. I agree. I think the first game I played that did that was Resistance, and I find it to be a really nice compromise between old school and new school design. Regenerating health ala most modern shooters is rather lazy and encourages unbalanced enemy configurations, but I always hated having to save every two minutes in Doom because I only had five health left.
  22. Wolfenstein: The New Order. I originally overlooked this game but I bought it on a whim during a Black Friday sale and it's turning out to be an unexpected gem. On the surface it just looks like a generic run-of-the-mill shooter like all the others, and to some extent it is, but while playing the game you can tell that id was less concerned with pushing the envelope than they were about just making it fun as hell to shoot nazis. The game has a lot of things you've seen a million times like stealth, dual wielding, perks, alt fire, and turrets, but it does each of these things so well that I don't even care that it's not original. They didn't reinvent the wheel, but they did make it better. I'm having more fun with this game than I ever did with any Call of Duty campaign. It's just dumb, mindless nazi killing action and I love it. Also health and armor packs are a thing again. Health does regenerate but only to the nearest multiple of 20, so if your health is down to 35 it won't go any higher than 40 without a med kit.
  23. I must be lucky or something because all four (FOUR!) GameStops in my area seem to be staffed by helpful and competent people.
  24. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory did it best: a fully realized story for single player and a separate, additional co-op campaign that takes place during the main campaign as a side story. Why the hell doesn't anyone ever do this anymore?
  25. I was hoping for a Van Helsing type of deal but it doesn't look like the case
