Well it finally happened. When Google bought Twitch people were worried that they'd fuck it up just like they fucked up youtube, but others were saying that such lines of thought were overly pessimistic and we should give it a chance. Turns out the optimists were full of shit because Twitch has just integrated a content ID system for archived videos. If any sort of licensed music is detected in the stream, an entire 30 minute chunk of the video will be muted, even if the song is only a minute long. To make matters worse, it doesn't discriminate between music you play over the stream and music that was licensed for the game, so if you ever want to stream Grand Theft Auto you had better never listen to the radio ever.
The cherry on this shit sundae is that the system has been muting music that doesn't even need to be muted. Tracks from Danny Baranowsky (Binding of Isaac) get muted, for example, even though he never wanted to be a part of this system and even though THE MUSIC WAS MADE FOR THE FUCKING GAME.
The only reason youtube gets away with this shit is because they have no viable competition. I can think of at least two other streaming services for gameplay, one of which is already accessible directly from the PS4. Twitch is fucked.
