I'm drawing a blank here. What's this generation's best shooter again? But the thing is, the score itself is really meaningless. You need to read the review to understand the reasoning behind it. One man's 7 is another's man 8 and so on. This is especially important to take into account when someone draws some arbitrary quality cutoff line like Cowboy's 8.
-
Sometimes a 7 or even a 6 is more worthwhile and interesting than a generic 8+. You make it sound like you're unwilling to even consider trying a game that got more "average" scores just because there's a ton of uninspired shootfests out there that scored a 9. I'm sorry but that's beyond retarded. Case in point: if IGN's score for Remember Me ends up being the lowest with the average being around 7 (which, so far, looks like it might be the case), then you can bet your ass I'll be grabbing it once it hits a cheaper price point. It sounds like it has some really interesting elements, even if the gameplay itself is weak or average.
-
Sigh... and that kind of attitude is exactly why we have inflated scores in the first place. Seriously, anything below 7 is bad? What the hell? It's not like a numerical score alone means much... They might've had an exclusive? Or other outlets weren't in a hurry to review, maybe. Anyway, here's another one. Not quite as negative but still far from glowing.

IGN rated it as mediocre with a 5.9 http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/06/02/remember-me-review I'm still waiting for more reviews but so far I'm not too surprised. Oh well, too bad. If other reviews are slightly better, I might grab it when it's on sale for ~5$.

Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall. Was too busy with school when it first came out and then I kinda forgot about it until last night. Kinda short but the gameplay is as brilliant as ever. Looking forward to the next one.

Uh? Didn't he recently say he was staying for another season? Well that sucks. The current season was quite a weak note to leave on. :/ Especially considering how good the previous two were.
-
Yeah, having so much combat seems like an odd choice. It kinda tells me that they weren't entirely confident in their concept and didn't want to make it the game's entire focus. Stealth definitely seems like it would've been a better fit.

I don't know if this is a real thing but holy shit, I want it!

Yeah, I think the lack of marketing so close to release is because Capcom know they might have a stinker on their hands. I was excited for it and am still at the very least intrigued by it, but my excitement died down after I saw this video a couple weeks ago.

Yeah, my one complaint about Sleeping Dogs would be there wasn't enough cases. The story was very, very good but I thought working the cases was the most fun aspect of the game.
-
I didn't follow it 100% but I was under the impression that they were profitable. Just, not enough for them. It's possible all they did was break even, I guess. Still doesn't seem all that bad to me. Especially for a new IP like Sleeping Dogs. After a few years of sales and price drops, more people will have gotten their hands on the game and a sequel would be much more likely to perform significantly better.

Honestly, after Squeenix's recent claim that their multi-million selling recent hits failed to meet their sales expectations, I stopped trying to understand what sort of batshit crazy expectations these companies even have.

http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Qo'noS#The_name_of_the_homeworld Not sure what you're trying to say with that link. Did you just search for "Qo" ? Because that's all there is in the url once I open it. This page exists, though. http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Qo'noS (eh, copy paste the whole thing I guess, the apostrophe breaks the link when I preview my post) Anyway, I wasn't going off memory from previous films or anything. That's just how I've always seen it spelled online and such. Totally missed that both spellings were in the film, too. I guess it makes sense when you look at it from the Germany vs. Deutschland angle.
-
Oh, forgot to mention, one thing that did bug me was how they fucking misspelled Qo'nos as Kronos. I mean, it's pronounced the same, but holy fuck, how do you make that kind of a mistake? You're writing a Star Trek movie, do your fucking homework!

Double Fine have started a kickstarter for a new PC strategy game called Massive Chalice. They had me at turn-based.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Except, you know, replace "buying an Xbox One" with "going on a killing spree". Not too worried, though. EA aren't really in the business of making console exclusives. Also, looks like something a bit more concrete emerged. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=571297 I've been waiting a long time for this.

Which is exactly as it should be. Really glad he never took the helmet off in Dredd. I get what you mean, but other than the Spock-Uhura romance, everything you've mentioned is mostly superficial. It's not like any of the characters have been altered in any meaningful way. They're not even meant to be reinventions or new versions of characters in the remake sense, they're literally the same people. They just had the course of their lives changed. I think what I really like is that he's the most ..colorful of the bunch. He's the only one that feels like he's really having fun with the character. Except maybe for Scotty, I guess. But then again, it's just Simon Pegg being Simon Pegg whereas this is quite different from anything I've seen Karl Urban play before.
-
Are you crazy? Karl Urban as McCoy is the best fit of the entire cast!
-
It seems like I've been seeing you play a lot on Steam. Was that all a single game? How long is a game on average? Longer than Civ? I've heard great things about the game and I'm curious but that learning curve seems so daunting.

Star Trek Into Darkness. Holy fuck, that was amazing. I'm gonna have to read a lot of reviews now because it seems to have had a mixed reception and I really can't understand why. My friends and I loved the hell out of it, although we're admittedly all pretty huge Trek nerds. I especially enjoyed As for the previously mentioned line, it did made me lol but in more of a giddy way. Didn't bother me at all but I guess it did kind of detract from the dramatic impact of the scene. Next up: Man of Steel. In the meantime, I think I'll go watch a bunch of TOS on Netflix.

Been listening to this pretty much nonstop since rewatching the first movie last week. What a great theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woIOnM7isM4 Supposed to see Into Darkness with friends this week. Can't wait.

So, I've been playing a lot of Arkham City lately and with Man of Steel on the horizon, all of that made me feel like starting to read comics again. Mostly Batman stuff but I also grabbed a bunch of the big DC series post-reboot. Finished reading the Court of the Owls story arc in the main Batman series today. Thought it was pretty good. The main Justice League series is also pretty great. I tried reading some Detective Comics but while I like the different style, I didn't find the stories anywhere near as compelling. Think I'll try Superman/Action Comics next and probably some of the less superhero-y stuff like Swamp Thing and Justice League Dark. I'm also really interested by Saga as I fucking loved everything I've read by Brian K. Vaughan (especially Y) but with only a dozen or so issues out, I feel like that's just going to be a massive tease. :/

A friend came over to watch it last night. He got here pretty late so we only had time to watch the first five. We really enjoyed it. The first 2-3 episodes are pretty heavy on exposition and not as good, but the second Michael episode and the Tobias one were definitely quite a step-up in quality. The new format is weird and hard to get used to but it's understandable considering the size of the cast and different their schedules must be. So it doesn't bother me too much. Really looking forward to the Gob episode. He really wasn't present enough in the first few.

Ah, okay. Thanks. Is The Valeyard a concept that was introduced at some point in the revival or is it something that's been part of the lore for a long time? Also, The Doctor has a maximum of 12 regenerations, correct? Doesn't this new "secret" one with John Hurt impy that he technically can't regenerate after Matt Smith?
-
Alright, my memory might be foggy here but I'm gonna need you to explain both "John Smith" and The Valeyard.
