  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiN6t7K7txw I think I'm overdue for replaying the game.
  2. What? Did I phrase that poorly? I was saying that when I'm ready to play again, I would be down to try and set something up.
  3. Yeah, I'll have to experiment a bit. I already did a little. I still end up way behind in score, tech, military, etc... Basically, there's something fundamentally flawed in my play and I need to find out exactly where I go wrong and how. And Wally, like I said, I'm taking a bit of a break from the game until BNW but once I start playing again we could try and set something up. I've never been too keen on Civ multiplayer but whatever, could be fun.
  4. So, I finally sunk some time into Gods & Kings. Played something like 30 hours over the past week, across a number of games most of which ended in shameful defeat (turns out I wasn't quite ready for Prince difficulty). I switched back to Warlord and that turned out to be WAY too easy. I got a pretty amazing starting spot, so that might've played a big part of it. But near the end absolutely nothing was happening so I became bloodthirsty and declared war on all my neighbors out of sheer boredom. I was going for diplomatic victory... I stopped after I won that one because I didn't want to get completely burnt out on the game before Brave New World. But yeah, kind of an awkward spot to be in. Either stick to Warlord and be bored or switch to Prince and get systematically destroyed until I step up my game. :/
  5. Started playing Nier. I didn't feel like playing anything I have on Steam so I figured I needed a palate cleanser and this seemed like the weirdest thing I own. So far, it seems like an alright JRPG. I like those and I haven't had the chance to play one in quite a while so I'm enjoying it. About 6 hours in but I don't think I'm very far into the story since most of that time was spent doing side-quests. You guys have been praising this game so much that I figured it couldn't possibly live up to those expectations so I went in expecting to be disappointed. So far that's not been the case but I also don't see anything particularly special about it. I like what it does with the camera at times but that's about it.
  6. Yeah, Max was modeled using his likeness in the original.
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=qm8PP-Ic240 So I guess that's it then. Alan Wake is dead. Some people seem to think this is an elaborate ruse and that they're trying to build up hype and will reveal that Quantum Break is actually Alan Wake 2 but.. yeah, call me pessimistic but I don't see that happening. I'd love to be wrong, though... Also, big Alan Wake deal over on humble bundle https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly Really want to get it for the bonus stuff, even though I already own the games. Completely broke atm, though. So that's unfortunately not an option.
  8. I don't know about most people but the trailers have been pretty good so far. Nolan's involvement also makes me hopeful. But, let's face it, there hasn't been a good Superman movie is a very long time. I personally liked Superman Returns but it wasn't exactly what I'd call a great movie...
  9. It's like every new trailer is better than the previous one. I really hope the movie lives up to the expectations. I don't think I've ever wanted a movie to be great more than I do this one.
  10. I just woke up and started taking it all in. So far all I can say is I'm disappointed that Remedy's new game isn't Alan Wake 2.
  11. Even better would be if Bob Saget voiced the game as an older Batman, telling the story to Daemon Wayne. And that's how I met your aunt Robin.
  12. I'd be okay with that. It's still stupid because, honestly, how much can a man's voice really change? Certainly not to the point where he'd sound like a completely different person. But having Conroy involved in such a manner would at least bring some level of consistency. Unlike some other recent voice actor change...
  13. Well, watched the finale. It was good and definitely the best episode of the second half of the season (the Neil Gaiman one was pretty good, too), but I disagree that it was the best finale. It wasn't as good as the whole Pandorica thing. This entire season's arc was just bad, imho. The previous finales had great build-up to them with the cracks in the universe that showed up throughout series 5 and then the whole Silence thing was infinitely more interesting. Half a season was simply not enough to properly develop this whole Clara thing. Pretty curious about that ending, though. Looking forward to see where that goes.
  14. Well, glad to hear at least the finale is good. Watching Journey to the Center of the Tardis atm. It's alright compared to the last two but that's not saying much.
  15. Just finish them off, then. The weird thing is there are times where THEY attack me, then when I manage to hold off their attack (and I'm just holding them off, not pushing back), they end up offering me a SHITLOAD in exchange for peace. Never fails to make me laugh.
  16. Well that depends on how long you've been playing. If you just started playing and jumped straight to Prince and are really struggling, then yeah I'd recommend taking it down a notch. At least until you learn the game a bit. Maybe see if you can win on Warlord. Anyway, we should stop being off-topic too much or Dean's going to get mad and swing his mod-axe at the thread.
  17. I fell behind after a couple of episodes and just started catching up. Watched the submarine one and the haunted house one. This season is kinda shit so far...
  18. Oh, yeah, if you neglect building a military, you can get demolished pretty fast. Learned that the hard way. I have the game set to autosave every 5 turns, so when it happens I just go back a bit and prepare for the attack. Sometimes it makes the AI decides not to attack attack at all.
  19. Hahaha, really? What difficulty are you playing on? Me, it's just that I started playing again after like a year and mistakenly picked Prince difficulty. Turns out I wasn't quite there yet but now I'd rather try and beat Prince than go back to Warlord. I'm on my fourth attempt over the past few days now. I don't have a problem lasting, I just end up giving up when it becomes clear that the A.I. is way too far ahead for me to be able to win. Last game, I gave up around 1960AD. That one stung a bit...
  20. I really need to play this fucking game already. Getting a bit tired of losing at Civ V, so maybe I'll give it a shot next.
  21. Two of my friends and I watched the entire 20th Century Boys trilogy over the past two days. It was so fucking good. The first one was the most captivating of the three because it sets up all the mystery and Urasawa is pretty much a master a crafting those but overall it was a great series. I think I still like Monster better, though.
  22. Beat the main Arkham City campaign a few days ago but I only got around to playing Harley Quinn's Revenge today. Was my first time playing it. It was alright. Nowhere near as good as the main game, but that's to be expected for such a small bit of story-based content, I guess. I'll gladly take something like this over more challenge rooms. Also, I really enjoyed playing as Robin. I loved Rocksteady's design for him and thought it sucked he only ever showed up in that one short scene. His move sets is also pretty fun, wish there was a way to play as him in the main game.

    Windows 8

So what are you doing with your other hand when using the mouse? Mine is pretty much always on the keyboard. And yeah, you have to learn the shortcuts before they'll actually be more efficient. I'm not sure how that's even a counter-argument... It's not like it's difficult to learn them, there's only about 3 I use regularly. And I realize I seem to be in the minority here. I just don't understand why that is. Windows 8 feels completely similar to 7 to me, with the biggest differences being quite negligible. I never really understood why there's always such strong resistance to change when it comes to tech, actually. It just seems so fucking ridiculous to me. I had a friend pretty much lose his shit over Win 7 when he bought his current PC. I tried talking him through it a bit but he wouldn't hear anything. He was just so angry because of how different it was.

    Windows 8

Not 20 years but something like 15 years, starting from 95 up to 7. Hell, even had a shitty old machine that used Windows 3.1 for a bit. Skipped the Windows 8 tutorial entirely yet still managed to find my way around. Granted, it was annoying at first and some stuff was a bit hard to find initially. But after about a week, I got used to it. It's literally the same fucking thing as Windows 7. Literally. It just has an extra layer of paint on top of it. And I've been ignoring that extra layer, for the most part. I can't think of a single situation where learning a keyboard shortcut isn't more efficient than using the mouse. Personally, I'm glad to have been forced to learn some of them. I initially pinned a shortcut for My Computer to my start screen because I was so used to navigate from there and I couldn't find a direct way to access it. But I've barely used it since I found out about Win+e.
