  1. Unfortunately now I'm short a buck for Old World Blues But this is better than nothing. I'm knee-deep in Oblivion, anyway, so hopefully there will be another discount by the time I get around to finishing NV.
  2. Wait, so you killed a God?! Oh and quick question: so the Oblivion gates close when you finish the main story. Does that mean you get to keep playing after the "end"? Because like I said, I wanna focus on the main quest, but I do have a ton other content that I still wanna play, like Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. And after I'm done saving the world, I intend to take a darker turn and join the thieves' guild and the Dark Brotherhood. So I just wanna make sure I won't end up being screwed out of it by a definitive ending.
  3. Just beat VVVVVV a few minutes ago. Such an awesome game. Even if all the other games end up sucking, I'll still be glad I got the humble bundle for it.
  4. Bought the Humble Indie Bundle 3 yesterday. I even paid a penny above the average so I got the games of the second one as well. I'm really glad I got it, but now I'm a dollar short to get the New Vegas DLC that's 50% off today D: I already have Dead Money, but I was waiting for just such an occasion to get the others. Never expected it would happen so soon, Old World Blues just came out like two weeks ago!
  5. Okay I'm starting to love mods quite a bit! I've accumulated quite a few very useful amulets and rings but for some reason the game limits you to 1 amulet and 2 rings. HUMAN BEINGS HAVE MORE THAN 2 FINGERS, BETHESDA! And I'm pretty sure I could fit a good dozen of necklaces around my neck. It would look fucking ridiculous, but that's my prerogative! So anyway, found a nice little mod that removes that limitation
  6. Currently watching the 40mins Skyrim demo from QuakeCon and it is awesome, awesome, awesome! How the hell am I supposed to hold off until the inevitable GOTY?! D:

I also thought of BioShock when I saw the weapon/spell dual-wielding. But I really don't think there's a comparison there. I mean, BioShock isn't an RPG in any way. But yeah, I really hope that UI was tailor-made for the console version alone.

I just watched most of it too (the video seems to go wonky on any site you watch it). Very very cool.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the way it's turned out.

Now let the modders get cranking. They're gonna have a field day with Skyrim.

  7. Thanks for pointing that out. I actually found out about another shrine while talking to a random NPC, and realized that perhaps I could skip the vampire cave and still proceed with the main quest. Of course, I need to be level 10 to start the quest of the shrine I found, but now I just need to find another one. What do daedric artifacts do, though? I had no idea they had properties outside of...well, being daedric artifacts. In other news: I got accepted at the Arcane University and they gave me a freaking staff! That is awesome. What did the Blades give me? A fucking katana and some armor that I can't even sell! I really want to finish the main story so that I can consider that I "beat" Oblivion, but shit, the heir of the emperor is looking pretty damn cheap right about now! Oh and I was wondering about the Oblivion gates. It seems every single time I venture off the beaten path or get sent just slightly outside of a city, I run across 3 or 4 of them. Surely I'm not expected to close them all? They seemingly spawn at random and frankly I find the "dungeons" they contain to be rather boring. And that's after doing only 2. So, yeah, what's the deal with that?
  8. Ugh, this damn game! It's so easy to get sidetracked when you start doing random stuff. I'm sorta stuck in the main quest. I have to clear out a cave but a few of the enemies in it are very hard to kill, so I gave up and went to some town, figuring I'd do some guild stuff to level up a bit. Well, I just spent the whole damn night getting my mages guild recommendations So much for wanting to stick to the main story! But about this part I'm stuck on,
  9. Oh man! I hate double posting, but I had missed that one and it is awesome hahahahahaha
  10. And now we have our official first look at Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Can't say this one does much for me. And while it doesn't really bother me, that doesn't look much like Catwoman. Though I guess this isn't necessarily the full costume.
  11. Ha, thank god I found a way to reassign my major skills using the console! I'm about 10 hours into it so I didn't feel like starting over just to change one fucking skill. I removed athletics from my major skills, so now I can run all the damn time without it making me level up. Also, earlier tonight I found a dark corner in a room with some people, went into sneak and set auto-walk against the wall. Then I went to make myself a bowl of ramen. When I came back, my sneak was at 50 Oh and Malicious, make sure you install Darnified UI. It's seriously insane how ridiculously large the vanilla UI is. I don't know what the hell Bethesda were thinking, but once you install it, you can't go back to the regular one. Other than that, I haven't found any of the mods to be particularly necessary. I guess the unofficial patches would probably be good. The keychain is a good way to keep the inventory slightly less cluttered. I also had installed a saddlebag mod for my horse so I could let him carry some stuff, but for some reason it disappeared after I installed a texture pack earlier. Thankfully I hadn't put much in it, but now I'm not sure if I should reinstall it if it's just going to keep disappearing with my stuff
  12. Hmm, free week-end and 50% off on Steam so soon after release? Damn, sales must be absolutely terrible.
  13. Unofficial patch Darnified UI keychain francesco's mod (though the only thing I'd enabled was the enemy leveling fix) keychain color map Now I'm thinking of looking for something that will make the game look better. Leveling any non-affinity skills will not level your character. This is why many players suggest you choose secondary skills as your primary seven, a way around the backwards scaled leveling. So you can crouch in a room with an NPC who cannot see you, turn on auto-walk and increase your sneak all you like without worry of leveling. Awesome, thanks. Yeah, I hear you. When I first played a few years ago I made several mistakes and ended up with a character that was too weak to take on the enemies. For example taking athletics as a main skill of running/jumping constantly /facepalm I guess I'll try re-enabling a few of them one at a time and see what happens.
  14. Alright, so I just replayed the opening "level" and my previous save was definitely fucked. I realized it as soon as the Emperor died and I got a little message that said "Deliver the Amulet quest added". I came out of the sewers and the red arrow is on my compass and the quest is in my journal. Now, this time I disabled all the mods and DLC (well, except for darnified UI... I was shocked to see how huge everything was when I disabled it O_O ). So the question is: was it just bad luck or did one of the mods ( or a combination of mods) cause the glitch? I'm not sure I want to risk reactivating them and potentially causing similar problems later in the game... That's the problem with unofficial patches and whatnot. They can easily fuck up as many things as they supposedly fix :/ Also, my first character was a Khajiit because they seemed more suited for stealth, but when I made a new one, I was looking at the races and when I stopped on the Nord, there was one part that caught my attention: "native of Skyrim". I couldn't resist So I went with a Nord and focused him on combat with a little magic on the side (specifically restoration and destruction). Though now I do miss the Khajiit's night vision a bit. But anyway, I'm mentioning this because I want to be clear on one thing. I know enemies level up at the same time I do, and based on the tutorial, it is my understanding that I only level up when one of my 7 main skills goes up. So, say I still want my warrior to be stealthy, since sneak isn't one of my main skills, I can go crazy and grind it for hours without leveling up my whole character, correct?
  15. Well, it said to go to Weynon Priory and speak to Jauffre. That's also what Patrick Stewart told me to do, and I don't think the captain of the Enterprise would lie to me. Besides, I've played that part of the game before, that's how I knew where Weynon Priory was even though I didn't have the active quest marker to tell me. It really looks more like the quest just doesn't exist... I'll probably start over from scratch later to see if it makes a difference.
  16. Okay, this is starting to suck. I installed a bunch of mods and started the game. The second I got out of the sewers, I immediately got a message about going to see Jauffre at the Weynon Priory (main quest) and another one about some DLC quest. The DLC quest was defaulted as my current active one, but the main quest is nowhere to be found in my journal. I even made my way to Weynon Priory and even when I talk to Jauffre I can't seem to start the quest. I figured maybe the DLC quest has bugged out the main quest or something, so I deactivated all the DLC and reloaded a save from before I left the sewers. Now I get the message about the main quest, but the red arrow pointing to Weynon Priory is nowhere to be found on my compass, I have no quests in my journal and even when I got to the Priory, that asshole still won't do anything other than give me the same speech about the blades, the priory and whatever other topics I can select when I talk to him. What the hell...
  17. Awesome, thanks. The download finished on Steam earlier so I guess I'll start installing mods now.
  18. Is there a mod that does that or is it something I need to do manually?
  19. So, for some reason the Skyrim promos finally got to me and I've decided to start Oblivion while I've still got a month left before going back to school. I was going to ask about which mods I should install, but that's pretty much already been covered. So instead I'll ask this: which classes I should stay away from? I remember hearing about (and experiencing) the game being pretty unbalanced for certain classes. For example, playing a fighter could make the game significantly easier. In these kind of games, I usually tend to favor a mix of magic and stealth, but the first time I tried the game when I first got my PS3, I remember after a while things got pretty rough and I found myself unable to finish some quests because my character was too weak. I was only working on guild quests, though, not the main story. And I don't remember what class I was playing but it's safe to assume that it was at least part thief.
  20. Ugh... headed to a party in a bit. Promised some friends I would go, and I was pretty pumped for it last night but today I'm just not feeling it...

Well, I went and it was somewhat boring but at least I got pretty wasted. Very surprised I'm not hungover.

  21. It was very foolish of me to start a game of Civ V so late at night.

Well, somehow I managed to pry myself away from it and get some 8 hours of sleep. But now I want to go back!

  22. Brilliant game indeed. I am seriously nervous about the new Hitman game living up to it. Blood Money seemed to have perfected the formula, and now they're shaking things up a bit. Hopefully, it'll all be for the best. But really, when does that ever happen?
  23. Holy crap! Got into the Battlefield 3 Alpha somehow. No idea how since I own none of the Battlefield games, but this is awesome! I guess they're doing random selection?

  24. Oh man, I only got around to beating Demon's Souls a couple of months ago even though I had it pre-ordered and have owned it since launch. On the one hand, I can now look forward to Dark Souls with a clean conscience. On the other, I fear it might be far too soon for me to experience such punishment again. But still, it comes out like a week before my birthday, so if I ask for it I'll only have one other game purchase to make that month: Arkham City. So that's nice. November is going to hurt like a bitch, though. New Assassin's Creed, new Uncharted, MGS Collection... And I'm sure there's one I'm forgetting. Thank God I bought Black Ops last year, though. I sure as shit am NOT going to make the mistake of buying a COD title at launch ever again. And I have no intention of buying Skyrim until I AT LEAST beat either Morrowind or Oblivion, so probably like the week after never.
  25. Hmm, forum's offline in firefox but is all up and shiny in Chrome. What. Even deleted my cookies and still nothing. Help?
