  1. I haven't used thunderbird, but the MS free version Windows Live Mail client is, IMHO, way better than Outlook. I don't think Outlook has kept up with the fact that internet emails very well at all.
  2. That is both awesome and scary. I know they said they've been testing it for years and it seems to have almost no side effects, but I don't know if I would trust it just yet. I don't trust those Y shaped things they put in a woman's cervix, they terrify me... especially when a side effect is they can penetrate the walls and need surgical removal!!!! No way Jose.
  3. My brother's kia has one of those, its an interesting way to drive. Considering that to change gears up you literally push the throw up instead of alternating up down up, it really throws me off. My brother's kia acts like the driver is dumb, which is a problem, so if I want to keep the car in the lower gears, the damn thing will eventually change for me. Its a problem that the car thinks that the driver doesn't know what they are doing, so the car will correct you in order to save you from destroying it. This is fine for people who are unaware of what they are doing, but for anyone who understands how rev's work and the damage they can create and is trying to do something specific (such as going down hill) its incredibly frustrating. @dean, in America, since we mostly drive automatic, those who do drive stick sometimes have this mentality that they are more understanding of a car and over all a better driver. This is untrue, my sister drives stick, and my brother did for a while, both of them don't know anything about cars and have had way more accidents than I. Its just a mentality that some people get because there are less people who know how than those that do. And, some vehicles in America, are getting rid of the stick all together. Mostly the bigger American only Trucks and SUVs, but some times you can't even get the option anymore. EDIT: Also, while we are on driving/cars, in America the traffic lights go Red to Green to Yellow to Red. We don't have a Yellow between Red and Green.
  4. In the US we don't require you to take your drivers test in a manual in order to be permitted to drive manual. So most people learn to drive automatic and just eventually learn to drive stick. I always wanted to learn to drive stick, so I did, and my dad being from the UK wanted all of us kids to learn stick, so my brother, sister and I learned. It worked out great because now that I work at an auto shop (for 1 more day after today) I get more things to do when the occasional stick shift comes in to the shop. I enjoy driving stick, when not in traffic, but America in the mid to early 50's marketed automatics for women so they could have an easier time driving. Well as it turns out, people weren't really ready to have two cars per household just yet (it took about 10 more years), so when someone was buying a car, they would typically purchase automatic because that's what they were told women like to drive. Fast forward 10 years when America had its muscle car and pony car boom, it was rather common to get a fast sporty car with an automatic. People just wanted it. Not to mention that in cars like my 65 mustang have a "Performance drive" option, which allowed the car to stay in first gear longer (and in some cases actually get the car to drive first gear at all, as in regular drive, my mustang only shifted once, 2nd to 3rd, never went to first). Over all Americans just found that automatics had advanced so much that the disadvantage to driving one over a stick was less, and it was so much easier to use, that it became the norm. As far as the stick being an anti-theft device, there is absolutely no surprise to me. I know more people that cannot drive stick than those that can. Especially in Southern California where our biggest tourist feature is our incredibly packed and non moving traffic.
  5. I read, and I don't remember where, that the PS4 was going to be able to pump out double the 1080p resolution so that 3D games could be displayed if full 1080p. Is that how 3D works?
  6. I also have a 17 inch laptop. If I could go back in time I would get a smaller one, but I got what I got, and so I want a kindle fire to browse when I'm on the couch and what not. The other reason I want the kindle fire because when I'm traveling (and I travel a lot) I can have some games or movies loaded up and watch those as I'm on an airplane/train. I'm waiting to see if a second generation Kindle Fire comes out at the same price with some better hard ware, but we'll see if Amazon goes that route. I have a kindle e-reader, and I love it. I love the service, I love the way it works, and everything about that kindle that I love makes me want to buy a second device from Amazon. So far I have a choice between another e-reader (which I don't need) or a tablet (which I don't need, but don't have one). Along with a $200 price tag, I can't really say that's out of my price range.
  7. I have their HDMI switcher and a toslink/optical switcher from there. Both are great. Where did you get the HDMI switcher? My dad has been looking for one at a reasonable price. HDMI switchers are just difficult to find, but decently priced ones that are good are even harder to find.
  8. Got my computer back today, seems to be working fine. We'll see if the issue is really fixed.

  9. I actually haven't heard much of Kickstarter before it got its gaming boom, but honestly I think its great. I haven't donated money, but its a great way to finance your own game/movie/whatever without having to sell your idea/intellectual property to a publisher in order to make it happen. I can't afford to make awesome movies, but I sure want to, and kick starter could allow me to make such movies where I might not otherwise be able to raise money for it. As for those who donate, that's their choice, and ultimately their risk. I know people who ask money from family and friends to help them start their own business and people do. It happens all the time, because people hope that they will make good on the business model presented and they actually want to see that person succeed. Kickstarter is basically the same idea, but asking people who are also fans of your business model/idea and want to see it become a reality.
  10. @bacon, when I fly an attack helicopter I keep the layout the same as default, but to strafe, you have to lightly tilt the pitch, and keep the chopper straight by slowly rotating the yaw in the direction needed, all the while alternating (when needed) between acceleration and deceleration. I'm no expert, but this seems to be the best way to do it. As far as hover goes, that one is trickier, I haven't mastered it, but I just watch the gauges on the HUD to make sure I'm not pitching in any direction and just slowly accelerate as I notice the altitude start to drop. The gauges are actually really helpful, but the problem is its hard to watch the gauges and whats going on outside the chopper at the same time. I find that strafing I've gotten so use to it that I don't need the gauges anymore, and hopefully that happens on hover too. @TN I like to blame the splash damage, but your right, I have no problem with the other shotguns (minus the jackhammer mk3a1) with the frag rounds. Those two guns are getting fixed to fire slowly, so maybe that will make enough of a difference to help me survive a quick encounter. I know that in real life frag rounds in an auto shotgun cleans a room instantly, but I also know that the guns in games are changed to help balance the game a bit more. I don't mind some guns being better than others, but its obvious that when a team is loosing big time, everybody pulls out the USAS or MK3A1 with frag rounds to help, which leads me to believe that those guns give a major advantage
  11. If I see them I can avoid them, the problem comes when a player and I come around the corner and start shooting. The USAS frag rounds will always win because they just have to shoot at my feet, or the wall behind me. The new patch is supposed to help the balance with that, which is, in my opinion, needed.
  12. I made the mistake of looking at the forums on battlelog. I searched for the USAS-12 and then read the forum posts. One person asked if the USAS with frag rounds is overpowered, to which almost everybody called anybody who agreed with him a noob, and that there were ways to fight against it, which were the following: 1) Don't get shot by it 2) Use the USAS with frag rounds. Now, I'm no expert but I play the game, my main goal is to not be shot, but its not entirely easy.
  13. Have you learned nothing from futurama? We keep our president's heads in jars and keep them alive for an eternity!
  14. Best Anti Air weapon? Tank with the guided shells, and a player in the third seat. My friend and I do this, take down everything within range in one hit. Nobody uses it either. Probably because I'm playing on the 360 and nobody actually talks strategy, they just bitch and moan.
  15. Actually, requiring internet at launch could be (not saying it is) deflected by saying that it just updates the neighboring cities (which are cities that other players created) so that their affect on your city is felt. Lets say someone built a coal mine on the boarder of your city last night, the game connects, see this, and puts the effects into your game until the next launch to see how things have changed. Still, I think its purely for DRM, but it could be the spore thing, player created content imported to your game.
  16. Just finished Darksiders. I've been meaning to get that one done for some time. I really enjoyed it. I have always compared it to God of War, mostly because I have no experience with the Zelda games. The combat is nowhere as deep as the combat in God of War, but the game makes up for it when you have the different weapons, skills and the seamless world. I really enjoyed the game and I am looking forward to the sequel. Although I would prefer to play as War again, I'll wait to see what Death can do. I did feel that the final boss fight was not as difficult as the few boss fights I had before, maybe I just got exponentially better?
  17. I wouldn't say mutation is any more acceptable as a plot device than aliens. I mean we have Green Lantern, Super-man, Captain Marvel (Marvel Comics). But for teenage humanoid turtles learning ninja arts in a sewer from a giant rat, in my opinion, have a better origin being on Earth than outside of Earth. So mutation makes more sense. Still, don't get me wrong, I prefer them to be the way I grew up with, which are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who skateboard, eat pizza and have a crush on the local news woman.
  18. I'm on your side. I'm in no way defending Bay at all. I am saying that the reason behind changing the turtles origin and taking out the Teenage Mutant part is pointless and silly. I'm also saying that you could make them from space and change very little about the story, but any reason to changing it would be pointless because making them aliens doesn't make them any more realistic.
  19. My favorite TMNT movie was the latest movie. The CGI one, Nolan North voices Raphael. It was really good
  20. I think its so funny that people are upset over this, especially because I'm also upset. I mean we are talking about human shaped and sized ninja turtles, it really doesn't matter where they came from, but that means that making them aliens is a pointless change. Why change something that will make no difference? Is humanoid ninja turtles from space any less outrageous than mutated ninja turtles? No it's not. It's Michael Bay, and he wants it to be his movie, not a movie made from a product that got popularity by a kids show to promote kids toys. For some reason though, he keeps making those kind of movies.
  21. The biggest issue I had with lock ons was my jet locking on, but no visual or no audio coming through with it, and there fore it resets its self. I've lost many kills that way, after chasing someone right after they release their flairs, then all of a sudden I have them locked on, but I can't fire my missles because the game didn't like keeping up with me.
  22. In the original AC I couldn't stand Desmond's story. To me, I saw it as a way of introducing the time period and everything. It was boring. Then AC2 came along and the same thing, that is until we started to see more of desmonds training/story. I started to enjoy the character, and by the end of Brotherhood I was more interested in Desmond than I was in Ezio. Ezio was still interesting, but Desmond's story had my attention. Especially the modern day climbing. (should that go spoiler? I'm trying to keep it vague) Going to give Revelations a try when it's cheap enough and I make a break in my backlog.

I let it sit for a bit, and it stopped, so it might have just been the disk sitting in it strange

So far I've had only one issue with the ps3 freezing, but that was within the first 3 months, I got it fixed through the warranty, but now I'm worried. Played it some more today, the noise is all gone. I dont know what is going on, but I'm worried that its the disk drive.
