  1. I'm sure you can fuck with guards on both sides. But to full on switch factions would be weird considering Ben Franklin and George Washington are two big allies of Connor
  2. Aren't big portions of Modern Warfare titles, and like the biggest heros, the brits?
  3. Just realized that by Ezio I meant Desmond. D'oh.
  4. I'm sure the Ezio storyline will end with ACIII and anything left might be... say his descendants fucking around with the animus. "YO BRO, LET'S GO TO ANCIENT JAPAN YO!"
  5. It's not like all presidents or all freemasons had to be templars, they werent synonyms until later. If all people on high power in america were templars, why did templars plan the assassination of JFK?
  6. When was George Washington outright called a Templar? You're gonna need evidence because I haven't played the game in a while and nowhere on the web can I see anybody else making that claim. This is all I can find on the wikia, besides the info stating he's linked to assassins and a friend of connor: Throughout human history, the Pieces of Eden had an extensive history of changing hands with historically notable figures, many of whom were either Templars or Assassins. Among these were Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, Mahatma Gandhi, Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Tsar Nicholas II, Winston Churchill, Henry Ford and Adolf Hitler.[1]
  7. America is cliched and overused in military shooters where you have to defend a city. The reason the "America, Fuck Yeah" argument gets thrown a lot is not because America is always the setting, it is because people want to see titles such as Grand Theft Auto, which have predominantly always been in a fictionalized America, go somewhere else. I wouldn't be against that, and I am like MANY here that fucking hate the idea of playing in yet another video game new york. But just like America is an overused setting, I also think japanese culture is overused in loads of games. Europeans title tend to focus on Europe or fantasy as far as I know. American developers tend to focus on their hometurf. Take Call of Duty. Even if you play as Americans, the setting of WWII Europe is just as fucking overused in video games as New York. Not to mention a lot of military shooters nowadays take place everywhere else. They might have an american cast. It also has to do with american movies tending to focus in America. Hollywood and the sort. That's what interests a big portion of the market, Guy Ritchie focuses on british culture 99% of the time. You focus on what you know and explore other areas. If other countries want a bigger focus on media that takes on other places, don't get mad when said media caters to their crowd. Japan isn't about to start making military shooters 24/7. And I'm pretty sure that the whole Free Masons HAVING to be templars is not a certainty. I think I've read somewhere that someone said that the freemasons were only a name in spirit back then and that the whole joining up with the knights templar wasn't done till later when entrepeneurs such as Ford and Edison joined up. Everything, even the ACWikia, seems to point out that George Washington was tied up with the Assassins and is a friend to Connor. Do I want the colonists/revolutionaries to all be painted in a good light? Heavens no. Racism and white-power hate was predominant across every european and the americas. I WANT them to show asshole colonists. But to suggest an American revolutionary such as Washington or Frankin be portrayed in a completely negative light? That is stretching it. Why do you kill-a the freaking pope with Ezio and fight religion? Because religion was largely fucking corrupt for a big portion of history. Fucking crusades, spanish inquisition, all that shit.
  8. Oh? A British man who has made it explicitly clear how he hates America and Britain is awesome is... disliking this? And no it's not a stupid stance. I would've preferred another unexplored european locale for sure, but please another america fuck yeah title? And give me a fucking break about stupid arguments when every European finds the need to use the phrase "America Fuck Yeah". 99% of the America Fuck Yeah titles are military first person shooters and NONE have explored such a rich period in history such as this. I'm hispanic. I used to hate America as much as any other country when I lived there. But guess what? I moved here. And it's fucking awesome. Oil motherfucker. OIL.
  9. I'm gonna assume people like Maritan are disappointed that Ubisoft did what was expected and made the Americans the overall good guys. What the fuck did you expect honesrtly? Sorry to tell you but when the US is such a big market for video games, like freaking 50% or so. And sorry to say but unless you're british, taxation without representation was a pretty dick thing to do.
  10. Yeah Atomsk. I was expecting it, and was actually trying to tell people who were REALLY optimistic that Bioware would do this radical thing like make everything count. But the Bioware that took risks is practically gone. Now we have a Bioware that makes solid action adventure scifi and fantasy games, but arguably not their most risk taking. I'll always love the ME franchise as one of my top of course. It just feels so "what the fuck" that they made the third one the one people should jump in into.
  11. So my friend messaged me yesterday at 3 am in facebook chat. Trying to tell me to not waste my money on ME3 because apparently the ending is REALLY bad. I don't want to spoil anything and I didn't hear what the spoiler was but he did tell me this [putting it in spoilers just in case but it was pretty much what I told you guys I was expecting].
  12. So the Muppets sequel is already on preproduction. James Bobins [director of flight of conchords, director of 2011 muppets] will cowrite it. Hopefully Bret comes back to write some songs. I can't wait. Also no Jason Segel, so you guys who didnt like him will be glad.

I am one such person. I am glad. More celebrities, more puppets, less character development please!

    3. TCP

      TCP

He's done how many seasons of that sitcom while being the only notable name (except NPH and to a lesser extent Willow) yet he won't come back to the Muppets? I don't get it.

It's not that he doesn't want to. He's tired. He spent a lot of effort and energy bringing back the Muppets and he's done his job. it was amicable he just needs a break from the muppets for a bit. No bigger fan than one that does his darndest to bring them back, and does so successfully

  13. damn i need to get this game. maybe during spring break.
  14. I know it's not much, but I felt so manly today when I took apart my laptop's keyboard and screen so I could replace the hinges.

How would you like to come over to arizona to feel SUPER manly and fix my laptop's screen hinges?

      Pojodin

Imo, that makes you just as manly as McBeeferton, wherever that guy has been hiding.

    4. TheMightyEthan

      TheMightyEthan

The only thing I'm willing to do in a laptop is swap out simple parts like RAM, HDD, or DVD-ROM. Anything else and I'm like "fuck it, buy a new one"

  15. Yeah that's really stretching it. The Templars always have the upper hand really in terms of resources and manpower. Revelations and Brotherhood are basically "the adventures of Ezio" where they may fight the templars and gain some power but gain the upperhand? No. What most likely happened is what the wikia says. To keep it short, big american industrialists (edison, ford) were templars. They sought for influence not control. They later established abstergo as a company to control capitalism. The true power that they have is influence and the power of economy. It doesn't mention the templars being revolutionaries. In fact everything points to the british being the templars as it makes sense. Probably their current "control" over America is the same control as a a multibillion dollar company has in US politics.
  16. While that makes sense, think about it. Who do you think has a higher chance of being templars? The Royalty and nobles [like in every freaking game so far] or the 'underpowered' rebels? The Americans only won many of the battles due to guerrilla warfare. Hiding, being sneaky, using terrain to their advantage.... what does that sound like? I don't want the americans to be painted in a beautiful light either. But making them the bad guys wouldnt make sense in comparisson to the other games. I would rather templars be amongst the americans, unnoticed but not necessarily in control. like loyalists and stuff like that.
  17. You know. I've always found that many trailers can be just as epic with a really soft emotional song that contrasts the action thats is being displayed on screen. Like for example the Battle LA trailer is brilliant in my book.
  18. Oh if they made it into a big conspiracy for the US gov, I'd love it.
  19. It's not that they can't realize it. And I'm sure plenty of gay men went around fucking women up to their 30's-40's and all of a sudden realized they're gay. But Shepard hasn't shown any kind of self-thought or struggle with sexuality. He's always been this hetero man, he's literally not shown any kind of desire for a fulfilling relationship or glanced at a man in a way intended as anything other than a man being friendly or professional. Plus this is Bioware. If one think they meant it as this deep psychological shit, then that's just cute. They wanted to shoe-horn this just like the supposed accessibility of ME3. Nothing else, nothing more. Their new mentality is to make money. I can't blame them, they're running a business. But I can't agree with this.
  20. That still strikes me as odd. It's like Bioware wants to make themselves more accessible with every new game they make. We'll eventually be playing Bioware facebook games
  21. I'm sorry but I gotta agree to an extent, and I'm a supporter of gay marriage. Shepard is only a blank slate to an extent, but it doesn't work with this. It worked with the generic character in DAO and Hawke in DA2 because the characters were never established as something beforehand. But Shepard has gone for 2 games showing no interest whatsoever in men. Sure you had the option to not fuck any of the women in the games, but he still had heterocentric answers/responses/dialogue options. He had PLENTY of chances to flirt with any of the male characters back then.
  22. The Lorax looks like yet another attempt at shoving a god damn message down my throat. I could ignore Wall-E's message because frankly, it needed to be said. But now this? Fuck you Despicable Me team. Stop shoving down messages down my throat, entertain me.

      Environmentalism isn't liberal - it's terrestrial.

Environmentalism is terrestial when done correctly. But this is the animated version of "An Inconvenient Truth"

    4. WTF

      WTF

A conversation would be carried on if there's a conversation being carried. I agree that this isn't ideal but it seems that besides a few happy birthdays here and there people carry on some interesting conversations here. One other reason could be that posting a reply on a topic takes more time than actually posting a status update.

  23. Ugh my curiosity is killing me I want to open Dean's big ending spoiler. But then I remember that I've waited a year or more, so a week won't kill me.
  24. Color me interested. And stay within the lines.
  25. I've got to be completely honest with you, even if it's set in america, I am not too excited and sticking with my original intent. I don't know if there were any landmarks by then but tall buildings are out of the question. I'm afraid this might end up becoming a cover shooter with small cabin climbings.. like red dead assassin. I would've preferred they kept it in the modern period. Part of me IS glad we get to play as a badass native american, Prey did it right and I love those guys. but still... I wanted more desmond.
