  1. I didn't say i hate the game or the series- you're misquoting me on that. I said I hated some aspects of the design. I said I resent the series even though I can enjoy it. I find the AC games broadly fun; my problem with it is that with minor adjustments it could be a billion times better. Ah, I see. Sorry about that. I think I'm just not very nitpicky with my games, or I just don't let it affect my enjoyment of the game that much. There are things I would fix in this game if I could, like in free running, I found that you get stuck on objects a lot due to Edward climbing on stuff you didn't want him climbing on. I say Edward because I think this problem was even more visible in AC4, being on a small ship most of the time with a lot of small things you could climb on. Holding the O/B button could minimize this as Edward would just vault over most of the stuff. I never thought of the free-running, especially on chase scenes, to be press x to win. It's all automatic as have been mentioned before, but the challenge is finding the better path to take. There are chase scenes that are on rails, where you just have to keep up (and if you do it perfectly, it looks really, really good!), but the chase scenes that occur in cities are better (which is why I drop everything and chase thieves in this game). You can stick to the road and just tackle him or get to higher ground and perform an air assassination (some require this to be 100% synced). The free-running button takes away the concern of you having to worry about manually timing your jumps and climbs. All you need to worry about is where to go next. And remember to avoid small objects because you will climb them even if you don't want to. Hopefully for the new game, this gets fixed and that the new descent button would improve chases, because currently you have to commit to the roofs if that's the path you chose, unless you see a haystack you can jump on. I hate stamina bars in all my games. It makes me feel very limited on what I can do and I feel it would be a disaster in this series.
  2. Yeah. The revolution plot of Revolution I think is standard fare post-apocalyptic stuff. Many nations rising after the figurative bomb fighting for control. The nanotech was kinda just in the background after season 1.
  3. So... Crouch button. I'm playing Tomb Raider right now, and Lara doesn't have a crouch button either, but she does it automatically. I wonder if that's better, and just use a "high profile" button (or the run button) like before if you don't want to be stealthy. IMO, it would be better than holding down a button while turning the camera around or whatever. And I hate toggles. Like in that demo, as long as Arno (should have been Arnault!) isn't seen by enemies yet, he could just crouch down by default or stick to walls. Isn't that what any normal people who don't want to be seen would do automatically? Again, in Tomb Raider, whenever you hear enemies approach, Lara crouches automatically (sometimes accompanied by gasps of surprise or fear). It's a cool visual cue that says "hey people are around, need to be careful".
  4. Just watching the last episodes of Revolution. Man, it sure sucks to be Charlie, or the actress who plays her for that matter. She was the lead. Then she got major hate in early season 1, toned down in the latter half, and now she's demoted to being the chick who gets to roll her eyes and judge people. Every damn episode. EDIT: Well that's that. I was hoping they were going to do something with the nano. But I guess they didn't have time to rewrite/re-shoot the final episodes. Oh well.
  5. Hmm... For me the combat fits the game. I would prefer this difficulty than having to constantly redo combat sequences, as it breaks up the pace of the game. And it's not button mashy, or worse than button mashy, at all. This is actually one of my favorite things in the game. I run around and stab 2 guards. Run around for a bit and get all those guards in 1 place and perform 5,6,7 kill combos. Then i run around and do it again. Honestly, it's super fun. I don't even "lose the guards" on chase sequences. I just kill them all because it's so satisfying. The parkour is automatic i agree but i wouldn't have it any other way. If i'd have to do mirror's edge perfectly timed jumps and wallruns then i'd have to give up the series. The shooting is supposed to be auto aimed, how else are you going to put guns in a combo. The stealth i would agree. I still found the system in AC4 fun, though. Anyway, it just feels weird to me that someone would say i hate this game, and yet they constantly play it. I guess I see what he could mean now. But to be honest, they could make all future games like AC4 and not add 1 single feature and I would buy them all, day one. Everything in this game just works for me.
  6. How come you say you hate it, yet you can't stop playing? The positives surely outweigh the negatives for you in this case. I don't know. It's just a weird stance that I don't understand.
  7. When they started talking about the PS4 being an entertainment center, I thought they were going to finally add external media playback support.
  8. I am not impressed about that The Order "gameplay" footage. That was an awful demo.

Looked good to me, pretty standard 3rd person shooter but I love general vibe and feelings the game is giving.

Every demo they've showed has been so cutscene- and quicktime-heavy that I really have no interest. Visually it's amazing though.

I think the gameplay parts on this demo was you kiting the enemy, and the other getting mauled no matter what you do. And QTE for taking out that necklace. :(. I would still probably check it out when it comes out and most likely buy it (assuming its decent enough) since I like 3rd person shooters.

Oh I found the enemy sniffing your blood (was it your blood? I wasn't paying enough attention) and tracking you cool. It's not just some mindless abomination.

  9. Yeah there was something off about that headshot being shown prominently like that. They showed it for like 5 seconds. It makes you think about it. OMG she just shot an arrow to his head! And then followed by "We become who we're meant to be..." I don't mind the title much. But yeah it feels a bit weird. I would change it to "Tomb Raider 2: Among Tombs".
  10. I can't get over the new animations! About time they improved it (well, some of it!). That and the new parkour abilities. There was another video at IGN where the protagonist jumped to lower (way lower) ledges. They made it as easier going down as it was easy going up. I guess that's how I should describe it. And the new animations!
  11. Hmm, it comes out on Xbox one too? I was surprised they mentioned that you'll be able to import your progress from PS3 AND 360 to the PS4. Do they mean just PS3 -> PS4 and XBox 360 - Xbox One?
  12. I don't see how exactly you tell it where to go. I assume you program it somehow by inputting directions... somewhere in there. Maybe it would have an app! Program the location and press the go button. Could you maybe tell it to go somewhere without you inside? Tell the car to go somewhere to pick someone up... The Google made video where they let old people, a mom and a son ride one feels a bit weird to me. They have a lot of good things to say, but the first thing I thought I'd hear before viewing that video is that someone would have some reservations about riding one. But they didn't. They didn't have anything negative to say at all, no concern about it whatsoever.
  13. Well, I work from home now, and it gets boring so I'm hitting up the site lately. Unfortunately it's also a bit slow, so most times I just give up. I know stuff is posted on the first post, but maybe a google doc sheet would be better? It's bookmark-able and it's a spreadsheet too so we can track lots of numbers and could use advanced functions like automatically summing up cells to come up with totals!! In any case, I made a donation and I hope it helps. I'm all for a faster site too... With E3 coming around, I know we all are going to have lots to say.
  14. So I've been neglecting my duty is a gamer to make sure my PS4 gets the attention it deserves . It's a super awesome machine, but I've been on a slump recently, for about 3 months now. I just can't be bothered to game again since finishing AC4. Man, that was a great game about pirates! I've always found, as I'm sure many others here too, that time period fascinating. And I love period pieces. Just like AC3 too. Connor was damn boring but that period, too, was really interesting. I not only like period pieces on my video games, but on my TV shows, too! I've been watching TV a LOT since I'm not currently playing video games. Which brings us to AMC's TURN (with a turned "N" for effect because you know, it's really clever!) Unfortunately, that is the only thing interesting about this show, well, that and the fact that's its a period piece on the American revolution. And that it's about spies! Wow. With all that, this has to be a good show, right? I am deeply saddened to report, my fellow TV loving gamer friends, that this show is a disappointment. I had high hopes for this show, because it's a period piece (my favorite kind of TV show!) and it's about spies! I even blindly recommended it to my friends because I trust that AMC turns out decent shows. But... now that I'm typing this, it wasn't really AMC I was thinking of. It was FX. They made Justified, and The Americans (which may become my favorite TV show of all time, replacing Lost). And Archer! But let me get back to Turn. The show is so boring that I would dare say, The Vampire Diaries could get you more excited per episode. Honestly, I must confess, I watched TVD due to Nina Dobrev being the lead, but I must say I have enjoyed the first Season of that show, and have continued watching it (through 5 seasons!!!) even if the quality of the show has declined. But I would still recommend that, over what this AMC show brings. The sets in TURN keep me watching till the end of each episode, even though nothing amazing or cool really happens in the middle. But what I could not take is that at every episode's end, it makes me say "Oh, it's done. Was that it?". It does not even attempt to try to make you stay tuned for next week. It's like at the end of each episode, they say "Well that's it for today. Today's Drama is wrapped up. But hey, maybe you could tune in next week, something really interesting could happen, but were not about to drop any clues here. Hope to see you next week!". Just this last episode that I watched, the last scene was the lead girl telling the lead guy "You should have killed him when you had the chance!" and the guy says "Well I couldn't, you heard what my father said!" and the girl goes "Duh! He was bluffing, he is your father and loves you and will do anything to protect you." Then they both put on their sad faces, rode on a wagon, and the credits roll. Good god, how boring was that. AMC has yet to renew or cancel the show. A part of me wishes they would, because as I said, I love period pieces, but a part of me also doesn't seem to care, because it's really not a good show. Maybe it'll get better though, over time, as right now they just seem to be setting up the spy ring, and a lot of boring shit need to get done before we get into the good parts. ---- TL;DR. I am bored out of my mind so I made this rant that is all over the place. TURN is NOT good. It looks cool, but it's not a good show, which makes me sad.
  15. Let's revisit! I just got the game. First of all, let me say, I accidentally killed Tharja (I 1 shot him with, well, me), instead of having Chrom talk to her. So she's gone. Apparently she's cool. Eh, maybe next time. Anyway, who are you pairing with who? I'm playing on Normal and on Chapter 12 grinding, so I'm pretty sure I can just have my main walk all over anything here. Right now, they aren't even hitting me. Anyway, I'm grinding to get supports up. Chrom kinda automatically married Sumia. I think that's what I was planning on anyway, but I didn't know about it so it caught me by surprise. I would have liked to try and pair her with Cordelia, given she's also pining for his Lordliness. So I'm marrying Olivia, I like the support dialogue with her the most. I think only Miriel and Sumia are left (but Sumia is taken! Damn you Chrom!) Then Frederick seems like a good match for Cordelia, given how they both are. Though that dialogue for support S I think hurt Frederick's feelings a bit until he surprised her with his thing in a box. Then, maybe Miriel and Stahl. I only have them at support level C, but it's looking good. That's all for now though. Still grinding...
  16. The Americans is my new favorite show that's currently running. I'm on episode 10, and with the finale on Wednesday (ep 13, I think)... can't wait! Though a bit sad it's gonna be another year again before more episodes come. I don't know how to describe it... it's painful watching these latest episodes, knowing stuff the Jennings don't know, watching all these events unfold. I love it! --- Anyone watched / is watching Crisis? I like this show a lot. Too bad it's cancelled. Hopefully this gets resolved, but based on the final episode's title, i think it would be.
  17. We have to manually save the video now, by pressing square after share? I kinda liked the old one where it auto saved on share. I mean, I think it would be A LOT better of the square button was used to delete the last video, with a prompt. I just lost a really cool Resogun video EDIT: So it's probably like this now, because it was buggy before, where it wasn't really saving your last 15 mins, sometimes it saves older videos. But this is not the way I would have fixed it. I mean, the original way was better, the PS4 was just lacking a better way to find and delete unwanted videos. I know there was a popup that says "Press [] to save video" the first time I saw this update, but I pressed "X" on a HK console, so it took me out of the menu instead of confirming the pop-up. I just pressed share again, and then square, and it just saved the last 3 seconds, since apparently I forfeited the last recording. That sucks. If it takes you to that menu, it SHOULD save it by default. I mean, you went to the menu anyway. What else would you wanna do? I am (kinda) mad because I wanna share that Resogun vid, and I can't beat the final stage again. I killed the final boss without dying (I couldn't believe what I was doing at the time). EDIT2: AAAAAARGH!
  18. I have two weeks vacation starting Monday. Too bad Watch_Dogs come out after that two weeks. Wrong timing. Right now, I really want to play ESO, or FFXIV. I just spent $15 on Child of Light, but haven't touched it again after about 15 mins of playtime. And the only thing I'm playing if I play at all, is Resogun.

  19. Why is Dark Souls named Dark Souls instead of Demon's Souls 2, and why is there a Dark Souls 2 instead of some new name? Is there a difference between Demon's Souls and Dark Souls?

Dark Souls 2 is a sequel to Dark Souls. Places may be different but there are similarities. If you bother with the lore, it'll be explained.

    3. toxicitizen

      toxicitizen

Pretty much what Cowboy said. They're too similar for Dark to even be called a spiritual successor, imho. That's why most people refer to all three games as the Souls series. All the differences with the title, lore, characters, stories, etc.. from Demon's to Dark are entirely for legal reasons (most likely because From wanted to go multiplat with the series). And even then, some minor characters do carry over from Demon's to Dark.

  21. I'm an Elder Scrolls fan, but not an MMO fan. My brother is an Elder Scrolls fan, and an MMO fan. He doesn't like it, he says it's buggy, buggier than the usual Elder scrolls games, so he's not playing it. The subscription is a factor to him not playing it. So, that means, I'm not inclined to play it too... Maybe when its released on the PS4. My console is hungry.

You guys know if the Start Screen will remain an option? I figure for tablets running Windows 8.1 it would be used. I'm hoping I could use it for the desktop too (it's the same windows anyway).

Didn't know about Comet. I guess there are two games after all!

So let me just rephrase here... Release 2 current gen games a year Ubi!

    4. TheMightyEthan

      TheMightyEthan

My hypothesis is still that Comet is just a last-gen version of Unity, but not a port. Like how Splinter Cell Double Agent had a Gen 6 version that was actually a different game but with the same premise.

  24. Well that's good to know. I guess I'll just push through.
  25. Thanks. I'm on the first day and i'm finding it hard to keep up with the time limit. I've used chronostasis, and I want to refill my EP bar but there are no enemies. Hmm.
